      Taylor 814ce Rosewood/Spruce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar (H79691)
Availability:

Gorgeous appointments with the complex timbre of solid spruce and rosewood.

The Taylor 814ce Rosewood/Spruce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar gives you amazingly warm, deep sound. Solid Indian rosewood back and sides sharpen the rich overtones and dark humors of the solid Sitka spruce top for a tonal palette of stunning breadth. The model brings new mother-of-pearl inlays on the bound ebony fretboard, as well as the familar abalone rosette, 5-ply purfling with maple binding, abalone peg inlays, and gold-plated Taylor tuners with gold buttons that impart luxurious visual splendor. Expression System electronics are on board for peerless stage performance.

Indian Rosewood/Sitka
Indian rosewood seems as if it was created to be on a guitar. The clarity, balance, sustain, excellent bass response, and wonderful coloration and figure are without equal. Paired with Sitka spruce, it is an unstoppable combination.

Grand Auditorium (GA)
The GA is Taylor’s most versatile and popular shape, excelling at light-touch fingerstyle to full-blown strumming. Great for mic’ing and recording, the GA’s balanced mid-range and bright tone exemplify the Taylor voice.

Expression System®
Using proprietary pickup technology developed at Taylor, the Expression System amplifies your guitar with an unrivaled, natural live sound. Onboard tone controls provide added flavor, or set flat for an uncolored, exceptionally-clean amplified sound. It’s your tone. Amplified.

Gloss
The finish used to create this guitar's lustrous gloss top, back, and sides was developed at Taylor for maximum durability and resistance to cold checking. This ultraviolet-cured finish is also more environmentally friendly than traditional lacquer finishes. Available in natural finish.

  • Taylors Flagship Model.. For a reason!

As reviewed by Sam Lung on 5/16/2012

I'm an active musician who needed a new high-end guitar to record and gig with. After playing a few Martins and Gibsons, nothing came close to the tone range and playability of the Taylor 814ce. The Taylor 814ce is a very popular high-end acoustic guitar for very many reasons. The solid sitka spruce top combined with the rosewood sides gives it the iconic clear, and crisp "Taylor" tone. The bass is smooth, ringing, and pairs great with the highs the guitar produces, and the it gets even better with Taylors expression system. These sensors give you amazing tone and clarity when playing live or just picking around. The Taylor 814ce also features luxurious crown inlays paired with Maple binding for elegant looks. Easily a favorite.

  • Awaiting delivery

As reviewed by GLENN PELLERIN on 4/23/2014

I was Playing at a pool party in Florida Sat night Just a duet singing southern rock, country, and island songs you know beach music (that's what they like in Florida) Having such a bad 2014 winter in the north east the snow birds were really enjoying the music, heck just being outside was great for them something us Floridians take for granted. Anyway, we were both playing acoustic electrics me a tackamine and my friend a ovation when the tackamine preamp electric pick up gave out, we finished up just fine with the ovation, a harmonica, and a tamporine. I had to get another guitar right away for our next gig was the following Saturday and it will take a week to get my tackamine's new electronics. Now this Tackamine has had my back for about 5 years and it plays and sounds great so what kind of guitar was I to get? I went over to Guitar center and played just about everything they had. I wanted a quality Guitar and had my eyes on either a Martin, Gibson, Taylor etc, I remembered playing the 814 Grand auditorium in a Guitar Center about 1 year ago while I played a gig in Orlando and thought I could never afford that $3000.00 and why spend that much. Times were better now and we were getting more and more gigs so I was thinking maybe I should. I played the Martin, very nice, nice sound but they did not have any electric acoustic's that was American made. The Mexican made one actually was pretty nice at $999.00 But I want the American Made because they hold their value and I want to support America. Played the Gibson, Beedlove, then the 110 Taylor, Nice sound, then the 200 Serirs even better the 3,4,6,even nicer but the price was going up and up Then I Played this guitar the 814ce grand auditorium. WOW! This is the one I played in Orlando about a year ago. So smooth, the sound of the setica top and rosewood one piece sides and back was unbelieveable This is a cutaway which some people say take away from the sound but I play a little lead and need the cut away and I don't think it takes away from the sound much at all. I could hear such a difference in the low end, mid strings and highs. Then I plugged it in and oh my gosh I felt like Garth Brooks. Not sure what he plays but the sound was increadible so even across the whole range of strings. warm but punchy, I had to have it, but $3395.00? A little steep. I left and was determined to get that guitar so I looked on Guitar center web site and found this one. And if I used their credit card I would get 15% off and no interest for 18 months. I called guitar center to order it and they said they were sold out and the alternative is the $3300.00 one well the guy at guitar center called around and found a new one in the box in Oregon, the last of 2 left. If I was to spend this kind of money I want it to be new not a demo and I want to be the first one to play it. Well after calling the shop in Oregon I purchased it and the total price was @2600.00 + tax I was estatic. this is around the cost of a 400 series taylor, I should get it on Wed, Plenty of time for my next gig I cant wait, I think it will enhance my performance and my confidence a whole lot, I am dreaming of playing one of the best guitars in the world. I know this is not quite a complete review because I don't have it yet, but I know it will be spectacular and I will let you know more after I play a few gigs. Untill later thank you signed Truck Jensen.
