Take it to the stage with the excellence of Taylor's Expression Electronics System.

Small-bodied but not small-voiced, the redesigned Taylor 812ce rosewood grand concert packs an acoustic-electric wallop in a compact size. The figured maple binding is a gorgeous upgrade that complements the beautiful hues of rosewood and the sparkling inlay work. The Indian Rosewood used on the back and sides of this instrument seems like it was created to be on a guitar with its clarity, balance, sustain, and excellent bass response. When paired with Sitka spruce, it is an unstoppable combination. Other features of this guitar include a bound neck, an Indian rosewood headstock overlay, 800 series fingerboard inlays, gold-plated Taylor tuners, and an abalone rosette. The Taylor grand concert body style defines intimacy in its size and sound. The grand concert is dynamically responsive to a lighter touch and is well suited to fingerpicking. With clarity and balance, it's also perfect for miking and home recording. With the addition of the Taylor Expression Electronic System and a Venetian cutaway, the 812ce guitar exhibits the rich tone, playability, and versatility needed for live performances.Using proprietary pickup technology developed at Taylor, the Expression System amplifies your guitar with an unrivaled natural live sound. On-board tone controls provide added flavor, or set for an uncolored exceptionally clean amplified sound. The Taylor Expression System provides the perfect conduit for amplifying this Grand Concert's intimate yet full sound. Plugged in or not, this rosewood guitar will fill the room with strong bass response and amazing projection.

  • Nothing Better

As reviewed by Matt Sumner on 6/6/2010

I have owned a Taylor 812c for several years and it is still nothing short of amazing, particularly for the fingerstyle player. I have owned and played dozens of guitars over the past 45 years, but this is as good as it gets. The small body creates an intimate feel between player and guitar, but the projection of the tonewoods (Sitka Spruce and Indian Rosewood)produces a clarity that is unsurpassed at live performances. Small touches such as the pearl neck and sound-hole inlays exude class and professionalism, and are not gaudy. Keep it in its hardshell case with a guitar humidifier and it should last forever. Save your money up for this one...you will not be disappointed.

  • AMAZING

As reviewed by Daniel on 6/7/2010

This guitar is definitely one of the best. And hence the price. But if you can afford it, know that every penny is worth it. From the unplugged sound to plugged in through whether it be an amp or a PA system, this guitar simply sings beautifully. Usually I like it plugged in because, due to its small size, it isn't loud enough for my purposes. And even aesthetically it is beautiful!

  • Top notch guitar

As reviewed by Ron McFarland on 5/18/2010

I play fingerstyle. The Taylor 12 series is perfect for this. The body size is perfect for sitting and playing while fingerpicking. Good projection on this guitar. Taylor uses top notch woods for the 812 and does a great job with the build. You can't go wrong with a Taylor.
