Taylor 800 Series 816ce Grand Symphony Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar (104845979)
Availability:

This grand symphony has it all - quality, beauty, and unsurpassed tone.

The Taylor 816ce Grand Symphony is a cutaway acoustic-electric guitar that features the classic Sitka top and Indian rosewood back and sides that produce clarity, balance, sustain, excellent bass response, and wonderful coloration. The Taylor 816ce Grand Symphony is adorned with mother-of-pearl 800 series fingerboard inlays, maple binding, and an abalone rosette. Equipped with Taylor Expression System electronics and a Venetian cutaway that gives full fretboard access, the 816ce guitar has the tools to shine in any music venue.

Though you might see similarities to a Grand Auditorium, the Grand Symphony guitar is unique in both sound and shape. Significant changes in its geometry yield a deeper more piano-like bass. A wider lower bout and higher, wider waist return ample volume and low-end sustain in symphony with fuller mids and balanced highs.

Designed to faithfully reproduce your guitar's native tone, the Expression System utilizes patented Dynamic Sensors to capture top and string vibration like never before. Created in partnership with renowned audio pioneer, Rupert Neve, the Taylor ES is seamlessly integrated into the design of the guitar from the ground up. Onboard tone controls provide added flavor, or set flat for an uncolored, exceptionally clean amplified sound.

The finish used to create the Taylor 816ce guitar's lustrous gloss top, back, and sides was developed at Taylor for maximum durability and resistance to cold-checking. This ultraviolet-cured finish is also more environmentally friendly than traditional lacquer finishes.

  • Amazing Guitar!

As reviewed by Steve on 4/16/2010

I purchased my 816ce in December of 2009. I had tried many guitars and did extensive research before deciding on the Taylor 816ce. I had played a 816ce at another shop and fell in love with it. They would not work with me on price so I ordered one from GC. When it arrived I went down to pick it up and prayed that it would sound and play as nice as the one I had previously played. Within 5 minutes of playing I found it played and sounded even better then the one I had played. To my ear this has to be one of the most beautiful sounding guitars I have ever played. With 40 plus years of playing I have played my fair share of guitars and have to say this one is truly the best! It is hard to describe the sound. Lush and balanced come to mind. It has piano like highs and rich deep lows that are amazing. The action and playability on this guitar are nothing short of unbelievable! I have found that the 816ce can handle any style of music I choose to play. The build quality is of the highest caliber. I get compliments everywhere I play on how beautiful my guitar looks. I would highly recommend this beautiful instrument.

  • Angelic

As reviewed by Gaz on 4/2/2010

I picked up this guitar and the neck was so smooth and easy to move my fingers around. Then you start playing it and it sounds like a muse. This guitar is single handedly one of the greatest recording guitars AND playing guitars in history. It has beautiful tone, crafted gorgeously and is one of the greatest acoustic guitars of all time.

  • The best guitar i've played

As reviewed by Zach on 6/26/2010

I've been looking for a guitar that shines in a recording and has that big full professional tone. Well you know the old adage "you get what you pay for" this guitar exemplifies that. after a quick saddle sanding the string height was perfect and plays flawlessly. the tone is wonderful right from the factory and can only get better over time. i've mic'ed this with everything and i can't make it sound bad. the built in electronics are awesome and sound good by themselves. if you need a guitar that sounds like it's meant for professionally hollywood/nashville produced music then this is the absolute no brainer. i've played guitars costing twice this and didn't sound as good.
