The brilliant tone and appearance of a first-rate maple body.

With the Taylor 614-CE Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar the bold sounds of big leaf maple and Sitka spruce are enhanced by the Grand Auditorium body design. Together the woods create a bright, crystalline timbre with outstanding projection and warm overtones.

The bright tone of this Taylor guitar is further enhanced by the Grand Auditorium body style with its Venetian cutaway. Its sleek design yields a strong treble zing across the tonal spectrum and sharpens the definition of individual notes. The 614-CE Grand Auditorium is a strong fingerpicking guitar that also adapts well to medium strumming.

Appointments include an ebony headstock overlay, a beautiful abalone rosette, white binding, and artful abalone fretboard inlays.

Designed to faithfully reproduce your guitar's native tone, the Taylor Expression System utilizes patented Dynamic Sensors to capture top and string vibration like never before. Created in partnership with renowned audio pioneer, Mr. Rupert Neve, the Taylor ES is seamlessly integrated into the design of the guitar from the ground up. Onboard tone controls provide added flavor or set flat for an uncolored, exceptionally clean amplified sound.

The finish used to create this guitar's lustrous gloss top, back, and sides was developed at Taylor for maximum durability and resistance to cold-checking. This ultraviolet-cured finish is also more environmentally friendly than traditional lacquer finishes.

This is my absolute favorite guitar to date. The sound is unbelievable and it plays even better! I use it primarily for recording - every engineer has been totally impressed with the sound! I have tried and tried but it is impossible to find any flaws - the craftmanship is impeccable! It is a beautiful work of art - I love it!

  • Great guitar!

As reviewed by Randuman on 2/8/2007

As the title states, I think that this is a great guitar. It can be considered a bit pricey at $2500-$2900 USD, and this can be prohibitive considering you're almost into custom luthier guitar pricing. As for the guitar itself, it is a beauty to admire in both sound and build. The build detail is excellent with its beautiful inlays and its second-to-none playability. The action was perfect right out of the box. The tone is crisp, clean, and even from the lows to the highs. If you could swing one for around $1700-$2100, I completely recommend it, or if you have oodles of cash just laying around......buy it. You won't be disappointed. RS-San Diego

She's beautiful-the way she looks, plays and the tone of her voice. This guitar is bright, and the neck is the best of any acoustic I've played. She's great for finger picking and flat picking. But she's almost too good for strumming. I got her about 4 years ago, and every acoustic I have played leaves me wanting to play her more. The finish is exceptional. 4 yrs later and she looks new. The spruce top is starting to show its patina. Great case, too. I've flown with her allover the world with out a scratch. Fanastic guitar. I'd like to get a less expensive dreadnought for playing outside, or by a campfire cause I couldn't bare to ruin anything about this beauty.
