Great tonewoods and amazing electronics on Taylor’s most popular body.

Providing access to the upper registers of the fingerboard, the soft Venetian cutaway on the Taylor 414ce Ovangkol/Spruce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar is both practical and attractive, while the Taylor Expression System™ allows you to share your music with the world.

Ovangkol back and sides lend exotic flare to the Taylor 410ce Acoustic-Electric with a tone many find reminiscent of rosewood. The sitka spruce top gives a punch to the tone, together they create a rich, tonal tapestry.

Grand Auditorium (GA)
The GA is Taylor’s most versatile and popular shape, excelling at light-touch fingerstyle and strumming. Great for miking and recording, the GA’s balanced mid-range and bright tone exemplify the Taylor voice.

Expression System
Using proprietary pickup technology developed at Taylor, the Expression System amplifies your guitar with a natural live sound. Onboard tone controls provide added flavor, or set flat for an uncolored, exceptionally-clean amplified sound. It’s your tone, amplified.

  • I Didn't Go To Get A Taylor, But...

As reviewed by Daniel Arturi on 12/9/2013

I walked out with one and it has proven to be an excellent decision. I tried this guitar head to head against every acoustic electric in the room, both plugged and unplugged, and didn't find a finer sounding instrument until I hit the $4000 level. Martins, Gibsons, Fenders... this sounded and played better and smoother than any comparable model AND the next models up in the competitive lines. I play a lot of fingerstyle with strumming mixed in and this guitar is butter to play. The neck is smooth and feels silky in your hands. The guitar is very responsive and incredibly well intoned. It does make me sound like a better player than I am. It's light and short but can stand up in a group arrangement both acoustic or plugged in. Great bass tone. Electronic pickup is second to none, clean and quiet. High tones are bright and clear. I've had it for about 6 months now and was very surprised to see how well it stayed in tune as the seasons changed; there is some special engineering in the Taylor neck that make it so, as I read, and as I cased my Martins up this fall (they are notoriously susceptible to dryness) and monitored the declining humidity, I saw no change in the Taylor neck, it hangs on my wall and it's in tune every time I pick it up within 1/8 step. You cannot go wrong with this wonderful sounding, beautiful looking cutaway.

Bought this guitar used. Such a great decision; the best guitar sound I've owned yet. Will be keeping this guitar til I die.

  • Great instrument !

As reviewed by ROBERT on 7/16/2014

This is by far one of the best guitar on the market in my opinion I have tried the martin gpcpa4 and found the sound to be too muffled when not amplified and tried the 214ce taylor too bright and the neck was too narrow for my fingers but this 414ce is just the right size as far as the body and the neck size is just right you can slide up and down the neck with ease I almost feel like my fingers are gliding on ice and as far as the sound goes this has the right balance not too bassy and not too trebly sounds great unplugged or plugged this has the expression 1 system which I think is better than the 2 which I tried and that system makes the guitar sound more unnatural and just too loud I guess because they put the pickup on the saddle, so I am very happy with my 414ce with the expression 1 and will have it for a long long time and thanks to the guys at GC especially Peter for his great service and attention to detail with all his customers.
