Black wood binding, ebony fretboard and distinctive Taylor bridge, Indian rosewood headstock veneer, and high gloss top finish with satin sides and back make it a splendiferous sight onstage. Expression System electronics with tone controls capture top and string vibration perfectly. Solid Sapele back and sides take the edge off the tone while still providing high definition.
If you're in the market for a decent 12, just make sure you play this guitar before buying anything else. I became drawn to 12's when doing solo shows for obvious reasons, and needed to find something to get the job done. After playing the few good 12's available (Taylor, Guild, Breedlove,) it was NO contest. Believe me, this guitar has lower action, a quicker neck, and better overall playability than most 6 strings I've played. Upon plugging in, you find that the expression system really does produce an amplified acoustic tone that is unmatched. When put through a Bose PA, you hear the exact same sound as when playing unplugged, but loud enough to be heard over 100 yapping drunks. Finally, there really is something to be said for the tone of an all solid wood guitar (something that I couldn't even find among other 12 makers.) I'm not good with those descriptions, but I'll just say that it sounds much more "alive."
