Nice Guitar But......

This Taylor guitar is really nice! Mahogany back and sides, Sitka spruce top. The tuners are top notch, and the fit and finish of this instrument is what you'd expect from Taylor. My partner in our band plays this one. Comes with a great hardshelled case. This guitar is rather quiet though, I guess to be expected with the mahogany body. Not a very big bottom end. Somewhat thin top end. What makes up for this is the built-in pickup and preamp. You can dial in just about any sound you'd like, and this makes up for it's shortcomings. If you're looking for something more open acoustically, I'd look around. But a great value nontheless.

One of My Favorites

This Taylor, the 310-CE, is one of the most playable acoustic guitars i have had the pleasure of utilizing. The neck is slender and the action relatively low, giving the guitar a sort of electric feel to it. The fret wire is low and smooth feeling, adding to this facade. The mahogany body produces a warm albeit quite tone; the guitar is really just a pleasure to play. Overall, its a fantastic guitar to play.

For people who like the Taylor sound, there really isn't any substitute, and this guitar is one of the most affordable ways to get that sound. I've used my guitar for countless gigs and recording projects, and it's never let me down. The pickups are top-notch, the size of the body gives it great amplification, and the sound has only gotten sweeter as it has aged. I'm particularly a fan of its low action. Being a lower-end Taylor, this axe doesn't have some of the cosmetic stuff as some of the higher-end models - the inlays are pretty simple, the woods not overly exotic looking, and the binding not as ornate. The back and sides also have a satin finish which tends to wear a bit easier - some areas near the binding of my guitar have begun to chip off. You'll also notice as you own it that your arms will wear parts of the finish smooth. But in terms of sound and quality, it's all Taylor - bright, loud, articulate tone, low action, quality tuners and electronics. The wood used is totally quality - a really nicely figured top, with a solid black ebony fretboard and mahogany sides that have straight, narrow grain. So, while this guitar may not be as fancy as some higher-end Taylors, it sounds amazing, plays great, and, very simply, feels like a solid, luxury guitar. I'm sure that I'll be playing mine for years to come.

I'M HAPPY WITH IT

Well this is my first Taylor, and I can't be Happier. This guitar makes any Begining Player a Master. The ES is great live and also recording. I have use it to play many different kinds of music like Blues, Country, Soft rock, Pop, etc, etc. I think this guitar sounds like a really "Acoustic" should sound. Altough it doesn't need a Direct Box, I prefer to use it. I think it sounds better with it.
