Awesome with Logic & Mac Book Pro

By John McLellan

from Helena, Montana

Comments about TASCAM US-2000 USB Audio Interface:

This unit has been great with my 4 year old Mac Book Pro while using Logic Pro, running Mac OS 10.5.8. It has "clicks/popping" noises when I'm editing with more than 4 or 5 tracks (which is pretty much all of the time) but I've read I need to upgrade my RAM from 2GB to 4GB and that problem will go away. However, all I have to do is turn down the master volume a few db and the clicks/popping go away. It tracks clean, it's portable, and works like a charm for me. I hope this review helps if you have a similar computer set up.

I can't wait

By Gear Freak

from Music City, Missouri

Comments about TASCAM US-2000 USB Audio Interface:

I just got off the phone with Tascam and they're some really nice people. Anyhow, the W-7 64 bit driver is soon to be released and they assure me that it is undergoing extensive testing, something that some of these other people need to do. The six mic inputs can be used for line level inputs if the phantom power is turned off. It also has channel inserts for the front all-purpose inputs for compressors or the like. It doesn't have MIDI ports but most devices are USB anyway. Speaking of that, my experience has taught me that USB Audio IO's are the way to go; less problems and 80 clicks faster than Firewire 400. I will be buying one soon. It sounds like a really nice IO.

tascam 2000 review

By Mark

Comments about TASCAM US-2000 USB Audio Interface:

Hello I recently purchased the tascam 2000 and matched it up to a brand new windows 7 64 bit computer 8 gigs of ram latest duel core processor blah blah blah. I am new to the whole recording at home scene and this unit was made for dummies like me. It was easy to install and with the updated drivers it works great. Im in a 5 piece band and was able to record 8-10 songs in one night together with no problems. We use mixcraft to mix and chop and we couldnt be happier. We tried the m audio 2626 first because of the firewire, however it is a pain in the a-- and never really worked right. This is the one to buy and get the extended warranty....

A Great Interface For The Little Extra $.

By Jordan O. James

from Albuquerque, New Mexico

Comments about TASCAM US-2000 USB Audio Interface:

When i was looking to upgrade my recording interface from a firewire 400 decive to a USB 2.0 device, i had looked at all the different models available, and i have to say, that this US-2000 device is by far the best. Besides interfacing really well with my Logic Pro application on my iMac the interface itself has some great little features, its got the little dust flaps for the top XLR inputs which are great to have since i live out here in the desert of New Mexico where dust is a huge problem. The graphic display has REALLY helped to eliminate any clipping issues when im setting the input or monitoring the output to my monitors and headphones. I would highly recommend this device to anyone who wants to put in the few extra bucks compared to the slightly cheaper units, if you would like to hear the device in action check out jordanojames on the web. Cheers.

Great Interface for the Money

By Bryan Wheeler

from Waunakee, WI

Comments about TASCAM US-2000 USB Audio Interface:

I purchased the US-2000 two years ago for my home studio. I have recorded clients with it and Cubase 5 and have had great results. The XLR's are of very good quality and the extra 1/4" inputs are great or DI'ing bass and guitar for tracking drums. The latencies are good and could be better, but it does not limit me in any way. If you want examples of my recordings using the Tascam US-2000, go to and listen to the song samples. All the songs recorded at Vicarious Studios used the Tascam US-2000. I have gotten great compliments on the sound and the ease of use is great. Definitely worth the money for the semi-professional home studios.

TASCAM US2000 Findings - Watch 64-bit Windows 7 Driver Signature Challenges

By John Harney

from Rochester MI

Comments about TASCAM US-2000 USB Audio Interface:

I bought the unit brand new and so far things are going well. I did have a challenge with the driver for 64-bit Win 7. When I boot into the system by seleting disable signature verifications, the driver worked flawlessly. Be careful if you install driver on 64-bit Windows 7 and watch for driver signature problems. You can get around them by booting with the options I mentioned. Do not use the install CD if you have Win 7 because he drivers are not included. Make sure you go to the TASCAM site and download the Win 7 64-bit drivers from there. Other than this I am looking forward to productive sessions. For the price, you can't beat it. I am using a Lenovo T500 ThinkPad with dual core, 8 GB RAM on Win 7 64-bit with Cakewalk Sonar X1 Studio. So far so good. Also make sure you use ASIO settings for sound in Cakewalk. Have Fun! ;-)

Stable, nice sound, robust

By Helder Reiji Matsui

from Miami, FL

Comments about TASCAM US-2000 USB Audio Interface:

This is my first digital interface and so far I am very satisfied and surprised with the quality of the device. I was looking for a 16 input interface with XLR connectors, compatible with Sonar. The whole chassis is very well constructed and strong. Using it with W7 x64, driver installation is very easy. I have been using it with Sonar X1 and had no compatibility issues. Sound quality is very good, of course not an state of the art quality but for the price I am very surprised after I recorded 12 tracks in 24 bit 96kHz simultaneously. Had some BSOD issues initially but I realized the cause was a CPU overheating (when mastering), since I am using it with a Core i7 notebook, so it is highly recommended to use with a desktop computer.
