Great for garage or basement

By Gettinbetter

from near Chicago

I'm not a "serious" musician, but it's nice to have a 4-track in my garage to lay down ideas or to make myself a rhythm track to solo along with. The TASCAM Porta 02 MKII is easy to use, and does what I need it to do. You're not going to get professional sounding recordings, but this does provide you with a nice multitrack recorder at a reasonable price.

Great for capturing ideas

By Fuzzball

from Ida, MI

This is a simple to use 4 track recorder that records on cassette. The unit is built well and it should last a long time if used properly. Don?t expect to make a high quality recording with this unit, but you could make a demo, or use it to record ideas and band practices. The unit can record 2 tracks at the same time, so if you need more you may want a different recorder of you could get a small mixer. If you want a unit that you can record ideas with and you want a little more than the Tascam MFPO1 provides this may be the item for you.

TASCAM Porta 02 MKII Portastudio

By PiLamPunk

from Baltimore, MD

The TASCAM Porta 02 MKII Portastudio is a great device for capturing song ideas and trying to flush out song parts. I wouldnt recomend it for trying to cut a full band demo. Trying to record a solid drum sound with it was a nightmare, but as a tool for composing its great.

Tascam Porta 02 is for you!

By Hound Dog

from Michigan

This easy to use recorder is used in my studio to lay down my ideas for writing songs. 4 tracks allows me to do my own harmonies or add bass, drums and lead guitar work. A basic entry level recorder that is very high quality! An excellent buy! I highly recommend this product for the novice studio person!

THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY

By Jizzy

from st.louis

THE GOOD. It's a song sketchpad, and a pretty decent one at that, at this level, at this price, I dont think any of the other can come close. THE BAD. There is no E.Q. or neat stuff like that, whatever you want to do to your sound, you'd better do it before it goes down to the tape inside this thing. Plus, when tracking, the volume of the instrument being tracked can be "manipulated" by the volume of the recorded track. THE UGLY. You probably wont care about all that stuff!! If you're a half decent musician, you can capture stuff with this thing, that just may wind up on your actual finished CD!!
