i have resently bought this item, but i have had some minor troubles with it, the headphone jack is not reciving the signals, there for you can olny hear your recording out of one headphone. also you cannot record 4 tracks to the casset and put the casset into a tape deck, it doesnt work. you can olny hear the first 2 tracks.
when i bought this recorder i started recording my full lenght album includind drums and my album actually sold more than 3 million copies!!i really thibnk this little machine can make better jobs tha a professional studio.
I've had this unit for a few years, and found it to be very useful at times. Like everyone else says, "it's great for beginners", but if you are looking for something to begin serious recording this isn't for you. Let me tell you why... First off, when you press play, the volume is okay. But when you hit record and, let's say you have headphones on, the dynamics of the plugged in instrument or mic will be amplified 10 fold, which is very hard to record with, especially since you can barely hear the other tracks you are recording ontop of. It also adds some distortion and hi-mids and highs. I must admit, it did serve me well for awhile and still serves well as a "last resort" pre-amp. But those of you in which know you can get your hands on a flash/hard disk drive/CD-RW recorder, I highly advise to do so even if it takes a few paychecks later to do so. Also, if you want something to grow with you as a musician, skip this recorder. If you need something very tempermental and to record scratch, buy this!
This product is a great way to gather ideas. All though my band didn't record our album on it, this was the perfect tool to get our ideas together. It has 4 tracks, 2 for overdubibg guitars, 1 for drums and 1 for bass. It really helps out alot before laying down tracks in the studio. Very easy to use and not bad for under $100. If your band is ready to start recording, buy this 4 track first, put it to use by gathering ideas and then hit the studio. Practice makes perfect!
I purchased this recorder a few months ago when I wanted to start recording some of my song ideas. I've already recorded a few tracks and while this recorder gets the job done, do not expect studio quality recordings. This is a great unit for budding songwriters to express their ideas. The MF-P01 is a great buy! Pick yourself up one today and may your musical ambitions become reality!
This is a good unit to record scratch tracks so that you can store your ideas. My guitarist uses this unit to record his ideas so that he can bring them to the band for review. The unit records on a cassette tape so it will not provide a high quality recording, but that is not really the purpose of this item. This unit is a great way to record ideas so that you can retrieve or share them later. This unit is very simple to use and it is built well, so if you need something to store ideas this may be the item for you.
I bought this recorder for a couple of reasons. The main one was I wanted something lightweight to bring to practice to keep blooming ideas fresh in my mind. It is very user friendly and is easy to use even if you have no experience. Also the price is hard to beat. A 4-track, analog recording, decent vocal mic, and a cable with XLR on one end and a 1/4 jack on the other for under 100.00. Springsteen did a lot of his work on a 4 track, but we cant all be him. If you are serious about your recordings, save your money though, you'll outgrow it right quick. All in all, the MF P01 is a good starter piece for aspiring musicians.
The Tascam 4-Track Portastudio is a good tool for getting your ideas down before they fly out of your head. The recording quality is acceptable for what it is, but you would never want to use it for anything other than quickly recording ideas. The machine is easy and intuitive to use and tapes are cheap, if you can find them. I've also used it occasionally as a mixer/preamp for running into the sound card on my computer. It's a quick way to record things to your hard drive.
This recorder is a greater starter kit for the beginner, and serves as a perfect song writing tool for the professional. Definately worth the price, it's easy to use right out of the box. Just plug in a guitar/mic/bass, and play.
