TASCAM's DP-004 Digital Pocketstudio Ltd Edition is based on 30 years of easy-to-use cassette Portastudios, updated with four tracks of CD-quality digital recording. Like those groundbreaking Portastudios, a row of knobs set levels and pan instead of a list of menus. This Limited Edition model comes in an cool black chrome finish at the same great price.

The DP-004 can record two sources at once to the included 1GB SD Card. A built-in stereo condenser microphone makes it simple to record anywhere you go, perfect for concerts, rehearsals and songwriting inspirations. A pair of 1/4" jacks on the rear panel let you to connect your own microphones or sources. You can even switch the inputs to guitar level for recording.

The DP-004 allows you to build up your arrangement until you've filled up all four tracks. The Bounce feature allows you to consolidate tracks and make room for more overdub layers. Track editing and undo is also available.

Mixing is also built into the Digital Pocketstudio. Once you set levels and pan, record your mix onto a dedicated stereo master track. You're able to transfer your tracks and mixes to a computer over USB 2 for CD burning and sharing online.

Despite its go-anywhere compact design “ smaller than a paperback book “ the DP-004 is simple enough for students, songwriters and musicians who want to keep their recording process simple and creative.

perfection in a box

from Cedarburg

When i first went to pick this up from GC i was suprised at its small size. when i got home and got this thing working i was ripping off songs one after another. it only took about an hour of reading and trial and error to figure out everything there is to know about this thing. even though it is only four tracks (two simultaneously) the bouncing feature lets you have more than just four tracks. in the end if you want a multitrack recorder with only four tracks and for low money the tascam dp004 is your choice.

Portable and Practicle

By Steven Faulkner

from Hillsboro, Oregon

I bought this Multi-Tracker from GC about a month ago, I am amazed at it's portability and features. I bought this unit for songwriting, I wanted something simple and small to work out lyric and rhythm ideas and found that it works splendedly for that purpose. I have had many years of multi-tracking experience so it was pretty simple to get it up and running and recording something within a half hour. I plugged my acoustic guitar into one of the 1/4 inch inputs and used the built in mics for the vocals, it sounds great through my home stereo. This recorder is perfect for what I bought it for, I was intending to buy the 8 track with built in CD burner but after looking at both decided this would simply fit my needs better. I am very impressed with this little unit. The only cons I have at this point are: It does not come with the 110 volt power adapter and the screen is not backlit (though it is easy to see). If you need something portable, simple and practicle I would highly recommend this unit.

worth the money

By jack partain

from topeka kansas

this works very well,if you are a serious writer.there is no mixer inside, you have to come with that yourself.but the sound is great it does what it is supposed to do .and the batteries have a life if you are smart enough to conserve them. this is actually a VERY COOL LITTLE MACHINE,it's worth the dough!!!!!
