Overview

The TASCAM CD-GT1mkII Portable CD Guitar Trainer is the ultimate training and jamming tool for guitarists, vocalists, and other musicians. Take any favorite CD, plug your guitar directly into the CD-GT1's 1/4" input, put on some headphones, set the volume, and start rocking! Vocalists can do the same with a mic.

The Slow Speed Audition feature lets you learn licks note-for-note by slowing down the CD up to 50% without changing the pitch. You can also increase the tempo in steps until you match the original performance. Added features include a guitar-cancelling function, built-in metronome, and oscillators for tuning, and split monitoring.

Advanced players can use the CD-GT1's pitch and speed controls to audition various keys and tempi for CDs they've burned of their own music.

The CD-GT1 has 57 great-sounding, customizable effects including distortion, delay, chorus, and more. There's also a nice selection of vocal reverbs and processed sounds so you can sing along with rockers, hip-hoppers, divas, and everything in-between!

You can set seamless in-out loop points with the CD-GT1 so that it plays the same passage over and over again so you can nail phrases. Use the footswitch input to start playing the CD from any designated point or to scroll through effects.

You can listen on headphones, or use its line output to plug in speakers. The CD-GT1 even provides a chromatic tuner and operates on batteries to take your show on the road. Optional AC power supply. (See accessory box on this page.)

very useful tool

Comments about TASCAM CD-GT1mkII Portable CD Guitar Trainer:

Great tool for guitar of any level. Any song on your favorite band can be slowed down without changing the pitch allowing you to nail your favorite guitarist licks! Also has a great tuner, not only is it a chromatic tuner with manual or automatic capabilities but it is a oscillator as well. You can also remove tracks i.e. the lead guitar track can be silenced so that you can play along with the band with your own guitar lead part, along with many other features. It is an incredible tool. The only reason I do not rate it at a 5 all across is that the effects are not the best in the world but you have to keep in mind that this isn't a recording tool (although you could use it for that) it is made to be a training tool and for the price you give for it the effects are not bad. The Trainer also has a metronome to help you with keeping a good tempo. There are two banks of presets each with five slots that you can easily program from 57 flanger, reverb, delay, phaser, exciter, pitch shift, chorus, tremolo, vibrato, auto-wah effects to your own liking. It comes with a easy to follow manual.

Timesaving Secret Weapon

By BluzWoman727

Comments about TASCAM CD-GT1mkII Portable CD Guitar Trainer:

Single best investment I ever made-very useful and lots of fun. I highly recommend it. I bought this CD-GT1mkII Portable CD Guitar Trainer to accurately learn an entire night of guitar leads in a short period of time. You can sample portions of the music and then loop it, slowing it down to 50% without changing the key, then increase incrementally-shaving hours off my preparation time for rehearsals. I took it on the road with me. Held up great, but be careful with the lid for the CD player. Don't lose the instruction booklet. It's helpful in controlling the banks of guitar effects. Buy the additional power source. This unit eats up batteries. This is also a marvelous learning tool.

THE BEST WAY TO PRACTICE

By Tyler NCC

from Texas

Comments about TASCAM CD-GT1mkII Portable CD Guitar Trainer:

I've been playing for 20 years and I've made more progress in my technique and dexterity in the few eweks I've had this thing than ever before. The loop feature is perfect for running riffs over and over and over. I've blown through hours of playing and never looked up to see the time fly by! Tones are decent enough. I wouldnt record with it, but thats not what its for anyway. The one thing I dont like is that when rewiding through a track it skips very far very fast after a certain point, which always seems to be right at the beginning of a solo or something. Other than that, this thing is perfect! I've already learned note for note a bunch of Moe stuff and now I'm working on Eric Johnson stuff, which I would not have been able to tackle before...get this thing if you want to be a better player!!!

Comments about TASCAM CD-GT1mkII Portable CD Guitar Trainer:

Any song that you have difficulty learning will become easer with this trainer! It slows the tempo down so you can learn difficult licks and transition of chords at your own learning speed. I own this product, and have never been disappointed! It constantly keeps up with my expectations, highly recommended!

WORKS VERY WELL

By drumdart

from Atlanta, GA

Comments about TASCAM CD-GT1mkII Portable CD Guitar Trainer:

If you have been in the market for a devise to slow down digital recordings, try this. I play drumset, and on complex passages this player works great. Setting your start and stop points for looping is easy, and slowing the tempo down and leaving the pitch alone is also easy. For less than $200 it's a great deal.

Buyers Beware

By Danslam54

Comments about TASCAM CD-GT1mkII Portable CD Guitar Trainer:

These guys are right. It does what they say and a little more. Electronically very neat little machine that I use daily. Mechanically it sucks. The pins on the main body which the CD lid on are very fragile. They are about the size of a tooth pick in diameter. Mine broke off very quickly with absolutely no abuse. The lid must be shut tightly or a "door open" sensor will get you. I use a fat rubber band to keep the lid down. I am still jamming but expected more. I am trying to get a RMA from them to get this really fixed.

Good, but could have been better.

By JoJotheRocknRollClown

from San Antonio, TX

Comments about TASCAM CD-GT1mkII Portable CD Guitar Trainer:

I use this everyday. I really like what it does conceptually. It has helped me improve dramatically. The effects are not so good though. There is alot of them, but it takes a long time to match up the tone to the cd you are playing with. The housing is very fragile too. I too broke the pins to the cd cover rather quickly. With a housing upgrade and a few common models as presets, this thing could be terrific.
