A tool for efficient, effective practice

The MP-BT1 is an MP3 player designed for the bass . Modeled on the award-winning CD-GT1mkII guitar trainer, this MP3 version is a fantastic learning tool. The MP-BT1 has enough memory to store up to 240 songs. Bass parts can be slowed down, looped, and even eliminated to help you learn new riffs. Variable Speed Audition lets you slow tempo without changing pitch. Sections of songs can be seamlessly looped for efficient work on tricky passages. Songs can even be pitched up or down so you don't have to re-tune for every song.

The bass input lets you rock along with thick overdrive and multi-effects, and a bass canceller removes recorded bass parts allowing you to be the bassist for your favorite bands. A tuner, metronome, and rechargeable battery are also built-in. All of this is packed into a stompbox size device smaller than a stomp box, so can stuff it your gig bag and go.

The MP-BT1 uses a high-speed USB connection to load up MP3s and charge the built-in battery. Zip through your MP3 collection using a data wheel, dedicated buttons and a graphical LCD display. A rechargeable 9-hour lithium ion battery is built into the unit, and an optional power supply is also available.

With our Guaranteed Lowest Price, you can be assured of complete satisfaction and the lowest available price, or your money back!

The best way to practice

Man, I wish they had this back in my day when I practiced 4 hours a day. My family may still be sane!! I am sure I drove them nuts listening to BOOM, BOOM, root, fifth for hours on end. The Tascam unit is great, it is a little picky about the mp3 files it can play, they can’t be too compressed – I record rehearsals then edit the recordings to practice to, to get enough ‘bits’ I have to save to WMA then convert to MP3 – but once I learned the drill…. no big deal. I found that the Sennheiser cordless headphone are the way to go for practicing with this unit, they are light, open ear, with perfect response range for bass – they sound like by Ampeg B-15 amp. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this product

Excellent Tool

Of course the MP-BT1 has MANY more features than most bassists will EVER utilize, but it performs well in the ways in which I need. Excellent for use in learning tunes "by ear." My preference would be to reduce the number of little-used "effects" and such and to increase the storeage capacity to a couple of gig. OR...simply add a slot for a memory card (of whatever size) so you can upsize as needed and also catalog your files. Another worthy feature would be to add the ability to charge and play simultaneously (although that MAY be possible with the AC adapter...not sure).

TASCAM MP-BT1 Portable MP3 Bass Trainer -- On the Go.

The BT1, is a portable studio system, with adjustable speed playback for practice. Pick songs you'd like to learn, listen, loop, repeat. Overall it has a decent setup for effects; with all the adjustments you'd find on normal pedals. It has a loud enough output to hear music in parks or while sitting in airports. The battery lasts about 8 hours. It can be recharged from a laptop or wall adaptor. One drawback, because of recording quality, is playback distortion. When listening at very low speeds distortion can be heard. This is not the fault of Tascam. Try recording MP3s with a better quality selection in your music library. I Love mine. It has gone all the way around the world. It's tough. It has a decent quality. It is portable enough to put in your pocket.

Worth the Investment

I am very pleased with this product. It works like advertised, its buttons and features are very intuitive and easy to learn. As has become expected from japanese products (although made in China), it has a high quality feel and is well engineered. Although you can charge it through the USB connection to your PC, I am glad I got the AC adaptor. I wish it had an integrated bass tuning feature. A little bit on the expensive side, but I think I got what I paid for.

Good Tool For Practicing

This is a nice compact unit that is great for practicing or learning new songs. I have only been playing for about two months and I find the metronome very helpful, especially since you can accent the first beat of each measure. A great 3 mode tuner is also built in along with a headphone amp. You can also enhance or nearly eliminate the bass lines from any songs you want to learn and speed up or slow down the tempo of a song without changing the pitch. I would change a few things about the design if I were making this unit. I would change the output jack from an 1/8” to a 1/4” jack, it seems like there is a lot of stress when you use an adapter to plug the output of the unit into your amplifier. A better way would be to use an adapter for headphones. Also it would be ultra convenient to be able to plug this directly into the guitar without the need of a cable. I think I would give this five stars if those two improvements were made.

Tascam MP BT1

This is my first MP bass trainer,I have used the CD trainer's for years. Tascam has came up with the most crucial practice tool to date. Metronome, Tuner, Effects, Playback, and the ability to slow the song and focus on a riff.If you ever wonder how people learn great songs and say to yourself, I wonder where they got tab for that? This tool takes that wonder out of your head and puts the ability to learn it at an elementary level. If you don't buy this product your going to lose valuble time.
