Awe Struck

I've only used it once so far but the sound and clarity was great.I play guitar for my church choir.I placed the recorder under my amp which sits on a stand.I pointed the head of the recorder towards our bass and keyboard players amps.It picked up everyone crystal clear with no distortion. The balance of the instruments was a little off due to my placement of the recorder, but everthing was super clean. Our drummer sits behind plexi-glass and even he was picked up well. There might be other hand held recorders with more bells and whistles, but for just straight ahead recording I am more than pleased with the Dr-07. The only down side I see is the battery use. They go quick or maybe I was doing something wrong.Buying the power adapter should fix that.

Effective, small, and powerful.

I bought this without knowing what type of sound quality I would get. Considering its so small, lightweight, and feels like a small toy I didn't expect much. I practice in a small basement space with drums, guitar, bass and vocals on PA system. We have some carpeting down and the room is full of books and insulation which also absorb sound. We play at almost full volume and because of the Tascam's limiter there is no distortion. The recording quality is right where it needs to be for our jam sessions. I highly recommend this to any band who needs it as a notetaker. Uploading the songs to our PC is quick and I am considering using it with a mic to do some tracking. Best investment of my musical life.

Excellent compact portable recording platform!

I bought this little recorder to capture new song ideas as they come. Perfect for that purpose, very good sound quality of the recordings, and a great device for the money. Controls are simple to navigate and I already recorded a song without having to break open the manual. This recorder is nice and compact, though feels solidy constructed. I keep it in my guitar case with my tuner, some batteries, etc., and there is still room for more stuff.

Super Little Recorder!

I've owned the Tascam four tracks that recorded on cassette in the past which worked well. Sound quality wasn't over the top, but they worked. This DR07 is the trick! The ease of use is great and the sound quality is over the top!! I took the recorder to a live big band concert last night. I just cut it on and laid it on a chair. It was a CD quality recording. The only thing I'll do different next time is use the LMT funtion to keep it from clipping (my fault for not doing it, but this gives you a heads up. GREAT RECORDER!!!

Awesome, From A Different Point Of View!

Okay, let me start by saying that I'm not a musician. I do own a couple of blues harps that I hope to someday be able to just play the blues scale smoothly on though. lol! What I am experienced at though is paranormal investigations. I bought this wonderful little recorder to try to capture EVP's(electronic voice phenomena). It's replacing a standard Olympus digital voice recorder. You can't even comparethe two. The condenser mic is amazing. I have a Blue Snowball usb condenser mic but I have to lug around a laptop to use it. With this recorder I have absolutely nothing tying me down. I can go anywhere with it. We've only used it 3 or 4 times so far on investigations but have already had very positive results. In fact, we've captured possibly our best EVP to date with this Tascam. It's clarity makes it so much easier to recognize different sounds in a busy, noisy environment. The fact that you can listen to what your recording in real-time with headphones is also an advantage in paranormal investigations. I also love the gain control on the side of the unit. It comes in very handy when moving around in an environment that has varying levels of sound. I know most people reading this probably won't be using this recorder for the same purpose that I am but if you are, it's totally worth the money. I would highly recommend it. Oh, one piece of advice though. Maybe the batteries that came with it were old, I don't know, but they died very quickly. I replaced them with a pair of NIMH, rechargeable, Eveready batteries and they last much longer.
