The 1" titanium WideBand high-frequency unit is seamlessly matched to a 6.5" long throw, low distortion bass unit by a precision low-loss crossover network. Distortion has been reduced by introducing flux control rings and copper caps into the magnet system to make the voice coil inductance linear as it moves in and out of the magnetic air gap--otherwise a source of nasty third harmonic distortion. WideBand technology extends the high frequency response to 35kHz and beyond--although frequencies higher than 20kHz are inaudible in all but a few human beings--to correct the phase response within the audible band up to 20kHz. Both drive units are mounted on a massive 40mm thick baffle, curved to minimize diffraction and creating the loudspeaker's distinctive styling. The drive units are magnetically shielded to reduce stray magnetic fields and allow the system to be used close to video monitors.
From the front:
40mm MDF sculpted baffle--stiff, heavy and rigid and minimizes diffraction
Recessed drive units flush with the baffle surface--minimizes diffraction
Wide band design tweeter extends the amplitude response to 50kHz to correct the phase response from 8kHz to 20kHz within the audible band
Smooth tweeter faceplate contours prevent diffraction and cavity effects
10 point fixing maximizes contact between drive unit and baffle
Aluminum flux control rings around the voice coils and copper caps on the pole pieces on the bass units
Bass unit development using Klippell analysis equipment to minimize offsets and make linear the suspension components
From the side:
18mm MDF cabinet construction provides stiffness and minimizes coloration
Internal construction ensures fast tight bass response and clear midrange
Front baffle and rear panel tongued and grooved into the cabinet
From the rear:
Simple foolproof gold-plated terminal panel. No degradation due to bi-wire links in the HF signal path
OmniMount-friendly fixing points for wall mounting
Construction: MDF cabinet and front baffle, tongue and groove front and back
Finish: grey cabinet, maroon painted baffle
