Based on the super accurate bearing used in PC hard drives, ABS systems in automobiles, and so on. This ultra-precise machined technology produces highly accurate revolving movement and high durability in even the toughest environment.
Tama adopted a true round-shaped "LiteSprocket" for a natural feel and smooth action. Compared with Iron Cobra's sprocket, this version decreases its weight by 40%. It revolves naturally and smoothly, providing a lighter feel.
Specially designed for Speed Cobra to give the bass drum more sound projection and rich resonance. The convex shaped head focuses the power generated by the beater stroke's action to the smaller surface area. This angle gives you a more focused attack and punchy sonic penetration. Rotate the beater head for larger surface contact and get a fatter sound with extremely powerful volume.
The newly developed Super Spring needs less momentum in the beginning of pedal action. When the beater rebounds from the bass drum head, you can easily feel a quicker response, and by adjusting the Cobra Coil underneath the footboard you can acquire a smoother feel.

Over the past 50 years, I've used dozens of brands of pedal, from my old Ludwig Speed King to Ghost pedals and models from Yamaha, DW, and Gibraltar, among many others. And this Speed Cobra is by far the best pedal for me I've come across. The promotional material talks about how they found a way to combine speed with power--qualities that couldn't coexist. I'm usually skeptical of manufacturers claims, and I tried this one not expecting much, but it really does manage to be both blazingly quick and have plenty of power. More importantly for me, that combination means that the pedal is extremely dynamic. I can play large gradations in volume and punch from one note to the next. That means my playing can be more expressive and more propulsive. For the longest time, I was feeling frustrated by situations where I would hear a part in my head and go to play it as part of some combination with other drums, and it wouldn't come off. I thought it must be my technique wasn't good enough--a feeling that was reinforced when I tried every kind of adjustment on my pedals. And as a result, I had to edit my playing, staying away from those trickier parts. But after an hour playing the Speed Cobra, I now know that my technique is just fine. In fact, the real problem was that my technique was running ahead of those other pedals' ability to keep up. But with the Speed Cobra, there's nothing between the idea and the sound--anything I think of, I can play. And knowing that means that I no longer have to edit myself. My musical imagination and inspiration can have free reign. It's like somebody removed a veil between me and the things I want to play. It also means my rhythm is tighter. Everything is better with this pedal. And I've only just begun to explore the various settings.
I was looking for a pedal that was a little easier to play. I never had a problem with my technique with other pedals but, I was tired of feeling over worked by pedals after practicing, rehearsing or performing for long periods of time. So I tried to look for a professional quality pedal at an afford price. I've heard some good things about the speed cobra. After talking about it with a guy in drums I decided to get it. It?s such a great pedal right out the box. It looks fresh, it has all the necessary adjustable features, and most importantly the play-ability of this pedal is almost too good to be true. I never owed a dw 9000 pedal but, I have performed with them quite a few times in church and I would say that the speed cobra is just as good if not better. It?s also a lot faster, lighter, and quicker than the regular iron cobra. It?s a very smooth, an extremely responsive pedal, it has a light yet solid feel, and has plenty power behind. It?s built very sturdy and it?s very durable. This pedal is effortless and you don?t have to work as hard to get power you want even with doubles. The longer footboard is also a plus; I wear size 13 in shoe so I?m also very pleased with the footboard. Overall I give it a 10/10. It?s made for the modern drummer and for any style; Gospel, RnB, Jazz, Latin, Rock, Metal etc. Now stop reading this review and go buy one right NOW!
These pedals have been amazing to me. I have two of these pedals on my Tama Rockstar kit and have been using them for the past year. I have to say I was really wanting Axis pedals, but Tama was more affordable at the time and I knew that they were reliable. These pedals have never let me down. They're rock-solid and let you slam your skins as hard as you want. I use to have the Power-Glide version and I must say, this was a huge step up. I no longer have to use as much energy as I was before. I've tried many adjustments on this pedal, and I've found that the factory setting is my favorite, the only difference is that I tightened the springs almost all the way. The only problem with this pedal is the beater. I like the design of it, I just wish it was made out of rubber/plastic like the Iron Cobra one. This pedal, in my opinion, is the best chain-driven pedal on the market. (Wish it was made in America)
I purchased this pedal a day before I had a show. It seemed great but all of the screws were not tightened to handle the vibrations. So when I play the show half way in the set it stopped kicking. I couldn't use one but after the show I found some screw under the beater and tightened it up. Now it works great so far. Best pedal I ever used. Just for advice to anyone. Make sure you understand all of the functions and gadgets and make sure everything is tightened. GREAT PEDAL. IF NOT BEST!
I have played on about every pro pedal from the 9000, pearl eliminator, Iron cobra, and the Axis A2, and none compare to price, speed, and power of the Speed cobra. I did lots of research and finally bought me one and its so awesome. The best pedal i ever owned. You have to get you one, the lightest pedal ever. Plus the hard shell carrying case it comes with is very sturdy and reliable. Pick up yours today
This has to be the most responsive pedal I've ever owned! I've used it for a couple gigs now and it performed beyond expectations. The smoothness of the bearings and the helpfulness of the Cobra Coil make it easy to get those fast pedal strokes needed....VERY FAST. If anyone were to ask me if they should get one...my answer would be "Stop talking, get in the vehicle and go the store now...GO! And don't even think about it, just go!" You won't regret it!
For the price, this pedal is GREAT! I have played an Iron Cobra for years and it was a great pedal. The Iron Cobra's are built like a tank and I never had one problem with it. That being said, this new Speed Cobra leaves the Iron Cobra in the dust. This thing is light, responsive, and fast. Totally different feel than the Iron Cobra...the Speed Cobra feels a lot lighter, more responsive, and longer under your foot. After about an hour of adjusting the beater, foot board height, and spring tension I got this thing dialed in! Took me a bit of tweaking from the factory settings but wow, plays like a dream now! Doubles and triples are no problem. I can feather the bass drum, or stomp it for a straight ahead groove. The DW 9000 is also a great feeling pedal, but at 299 not worth the price difference. Adjustments are super easy to make with the provided multi-tool. Best Tama pedal I have tried, BY FAR!
I was very skeptical about buying the Tama speed cobra pedal. Mainly because I have heard about the Tama iron cobras to be more sensitive. I wanted a pedal that has good speed, and not overly sensitive. I am in love with this pedal. There are so many settings on it to adjust it to your style of play. You can even adjust the angle of the beater head to be any angle you want. I wear a size 12 shoe and have always had to play with half my foot on the pedal, with this pedal you can comfortably get your entire foot with the extended foot board. Easy to get some double bass heal-toe action because of it. Highly recommend. Very smooth pedal.
Everyone trade your pedals in this is the one. This is a smooth filling pedal an quick to.The long foot board i love it for my big shoe.Well balance pedal TAMA they have out do themselve with this SPEEDCOBRA get today. You will tell a friend.
I just picked this pedal up 2 weeks ago and i am in love with it!!! I have been searching for the pefect pedal well here it is. I have an IC power glide and its great but this speed cobra blows it away. I am very picky when it comes to psdals and this one my friends is the BEST PEDAL EVER!!!!
