Few pedals have ever been as instantly popular as Tama's Speed Cobra. In the world of bass drum pedal design, speed and power had long been contrary qualities. One could not be accomplished without compromising the other. Speed Cobra was the first to break those boundaries, delivering both aggressive power and lightning fast speed!
The Speed Cobra HP910LN is a single kick pedal for the serious player. Its extra long, smooth surface footboard provides added leverage that minimizes player effort, and encourages a wide variety of foot-slide techniques. The pedals solid foundation can be attributed to its Super Stabilizer design that incorporates a wider baseplate and frame for absolute stability. At the pedals heel, the specially designed 3-piece Hinge Guard Block provides a more durable hinge point and slightly lengthens the footboard for enhanced speed and control.
At the heart of the Speed Cobra HP910LN is its recessed setting feature, which positions the top of the footboard back and away from the cam, resulting in a more natural and easy motion than conventional designs. The unique LiteSprocket Rolling Glide symmetrical cam incorporates a double-chain, which together with the HP910LNs longer footboard provides maximum speed and power throughout the entire cycle of the pedals stroke. The Speedo-Ring rocker cam is yet another example of streamlining, eliminating spring friction with a high-quality, built-in ball bearing rocker. The HP910LNs Quick-Hook spring attachment eliminates wobbling, provides maximum power transmission to the Speedo-Ring, and helps facilitate quicker setup. To further improve speed and beater stroke action, the adjustable Cobra Coil spring-return constantly works to push the footboard back to its original position, tightening the relationship between players foot and the pedal.
Perhaps one of the most ingenious developments of the Speed Cobra HP910LN is its Swivel Spring Tight tension locking mechanism, which are designed to rock or swivel, allowing freer spring movement and a smoother overall feel. The smartly redesigned Accu-Strike Cobra Beater provides a powerful precise strike, which produces a sharper, more explosive sound on contact. Finally, the Speed Cobra brings an end to makeshift methods of trying to protect the bass drum hoop: the Para-Clamp II Pro holds the pedal securely to the bass drum hoop without scratching it or slipping, thanks to an enlarged rubber padded clamp piece.
The Speed Cobra HP910LN includes a custom hardshell carrying case for safe transport.

Comments about Tama Speed Cobra 910 Single Bass Drum Pedal:
I have a double bass set and I bought two of these beauties to go along with my setup. Once I got them, I took them out and hooked them onto the bass drums right away. I instantly fell in love with these pedals, smooth, wicked fast, easily adjustable, and very comfortable. After a few days I decided to move the Cobra Coil back for harder action, made it even better. The beater is also very nice, lots of power and punch. Recommend this for experienced players who are looking for a higher-end, smooth, fast, and great quality pedal. This pedal is unique and one of a kind, the best I have ever played!
Comments about Tama Speed Cobra 910 Single Bass Drum Pedal:
For me, this is a 5 star product, not only for very high quality and value, but also because I have big feet! Size 15-16 W. I've played for over 50 years and upgraded from a 1970's Pearl to Pearl's Demon Drive direct drive pedal which is super adjustable and fast, and the top of their line. I love it, and still have them both. But I prefer to play heel down and my heel was always on the floor, even in the "extended" set up so the Speed Cobra was a natural progression.
They never tell you, but it may help to know that the footplate measures 13-1/4" from tip at the chain to the end of the heel plate ("max"), and is 3-1/2" at the widest point. BTW, the DD is 11-1/4x3, and the '72 is 13-1/8x4.
This version of the SC allows for independent adjustments of the pedal and beater which was a must have for me since the DD. These features function as expected and adjust to anyone's preferences and I'm still working on my sweet spot but this will get you there for sure. So far the Cobra Coil is un-noticeable but can also be adjusted for more recoil. It has a sturdy top spring but it's hard to get under there to work with it but the settings are secure once you do.
This comes with the best beater head I've used over the years and here I've experimented with many types. This beater has excellent balance and weight and again it is adjustable not only by length but you can align the beater surface to match your drumhead for 100% contact. The pedal allows for separate setting of the beater distance and if you don't have that feature-get it! I've put fluffy wool jazz beaters and old school felt as well as "weird stuff" like rods and elliptical beaters and they all work but the stock beater is worth buying on its own!
Overall very happy with this purchase!
