Tama drums are very good drums and hardware. I been playing them for 20 years now. They are very good never heard of problems with them but. If you were having problems with your Kit you should contact Guitar Center or Tama. They have warranty on their drums shell and hardware they will take care of you good luck I hope you enjoy your Tama Kits like I do for many years to come
For the price I like this set a lot. I have had this set for about a month and can't stop playing it. I have been playing for 15 years and this is the best set I've played on. If you buy this kit make sure you get all the hardware. It did not come with legs for either of the floor toms. No problems so far.
The Silverstar is an acceptable beginner set. It has a very nice finish and a nice arrangement of drums. However, my concerns are many. The hardware (tom mounts, bass drum legs, floor tom legs, etc.) is very flimsy and lightweight. The rims are extremely thin. The rim on the 10" tom lost its shape the very first time I tuned the drum. I didn't bother tuning the balance of the toms. The shells are thin as well. Sometimes a thinner shell will produce a more vibrant tone. This was not the case. The tone of the drums (I only tuned the 10" and Bass Drums) was poor. In a side by side comparison test with my practice kit (a very inexpensive kit of similar size and specs), the Tama Silverstar lost hands down. This drum kit was returned to the store.
