Wow!

Comments about Tama S.L.P. G-Bubinga Snare Drum:

You have to see this drum in person to appreciate the three dimensional quality of the wood contrasted by the black nickel. It's flat gorgeous. But we buy drums for sound, not just looks, and the Bubinga has the attack and full bodied tone I was looking for. It's a fat, round sound with extended decay. Think of it as the antithesis of a steel snare. Huge volume for cannon rim shots or dial in a relaxed tone for ghost notes. It's extremely tuneable so have at it. Great hardware too with a very smooth throwoff and adjustable butt plate. I've been searching for years to replicate the tone of my old Artstar Rosewood that I foolishly sold years ago. The bubinga is the successor.

Comments about Tama S.L.P. G-Bubinga Snare Drum:

This snare is one of the best sounding snares in its class. First the quality of the built in out of this world. I am not a big tama fan but when I sampled this snare at the store, I had to have it. Tight, Punchy really clean sound with just enough resonance, but not to much to overwhelm. Also its very adjustable from a low pitch to High. It is awesome. It is also beautiful and will stand out with any kit. If you are thinking about getting this snare, stop thinking and do.

SLP G Bubinga

By

Comments about Tama S.L.P. G-Bubinga Snare Drum:

It's patently obvious that Tama did it's homework when developing the S.L.P. line of snares. First of all, pictures do this drum NO justice. It is absolutly STUNNING! A true visual masterpiece that will stand out regardless of what kit it is played with. Thw quality of this drum is amazing! The lugs, shell, strainer, butt and hoops are all Starclassic quality. As a matter of fact, many parts were lifted from the Starclassic bin. Lastly, the sound! WOW! This snare has an amazing tuning range. Low, high or anywhere in the middle, this thing sings! Ghost notes are well articulated as are the power strokes. The 12 ply shell combined with the triple-flanged hoops allow the perfect amount of resonance. Moongels or die-cast hoops really choke the sound. The number of snare drums on the market today is staggering, bordering on silly. Prices seem to be moving in that direction too! Do yourself a favor and check out this snare. It offers the perfect combination of looks, sound, build quality and price. The S.L.P line of sanre drums is just another reason why TAMA is the "Strongest Name in Drums".

Money well spent!

Comments about Tama S.L.P. G-Bubinga Snare Drum:

After seeing the video and hearing this snare, I was intrigued. I'm used to maple, brass and aluminum shells. This one has a very unique sound. It's very sensitive, powerful and still has a naturally lower resonant note. Ghost notes are well articulated and rim shots are like gun shots. However, it's the center where it really speaks it's voice. Sharp yet full and woody. Just drop an Evans genera dry on this baby and let 'er rip!

WoW Can you say Punchy !

By

Comments about Tama S.L.P. G-Bubinga Snare Drum:

Hey all, I own the Tama Starphonic Limited edition steel snare drum and I thought it was the loudest punchiest snare I ever heard until I played this! I baught it right there on the spot after playing it a bit. First off this snare has a wide tuning range so it will certainly fit in any genre of music you may play ! Saying its loud is an understatement, Rim shots are deafaning and these hoops work so well in getting everything the shell can give, No need for any damping at all and it would be a shame to do that with this drum, its a fairly dry drum that doesnt exibit overly ringy tones and works perfect left as it without tape or moon gel stuck on it, let it sing ! Dont worry yourself about this drun cutting though a wall of guitars, it can hold its own. It has a very nice rich and deep tone perfect for those classic rock backbeats of the 80s which is what I use it for. Its a stunning drum to look at, just a gorgeous finish and then photo does not do the snare justice. Tama has impresed me as of late with there snare drum lines! The Starphonic series are amazing unique snare drums and these new SLP are just as nice, Its a no brainer and its obvious to me Tama has honed its skills at becoming the best at making snare drums in my humble opinion! Tama has become the only snare I will play these are akin to custom snare drums, My main Kit is a Pearl but my workhorse are tama snares, these are simply amazing, do not hesitate one bit in buying one, nothing out there comes close and the price is worth every penny ! Thanks again Tama for giving us yet another awesome choice in snare drums, They do there homework and come out with great products, either way Starphonic or this SLP you simply cannot go wrong! Heads, I swaped out the stock G1 For a remo coated CS with dot, Im using the stock hazy 300 snare side and tama snappy wire. The remo head helps a tad in warming us the sound but thats just my personal preferance. Go get this drum and enjoy it, its amazing!
