Comments about Tama Nickel-Plated Snare Drum:

I know that musicians preffer wood ply on snares but ths kind of snare do anything i needwith out a microphone. I use this at mu church and the sound is enough good at all. The way of how it is made, is diferent than others snare but times change and this is revolucionary at all too. Evans heads even make this snare one of the best to buy and the price..... very low to belive. I recommend this one to you that read this review, trust me, you gonna love this snare. Am a TAMA user at drums sets.

      Gnarly Metal Drum

Comments about Tama Nickel-Plated Snare Drum:

Fantastic Drum!!! much better than my Yamaha snare that came with my setup. Only pickle I have with it is that the drum had a dent in it when it was shipped but it seems to not effect the quality of the sound so I guess that's OK. You can't beat the price I paid when it was on sale so no worries there.

Comments about Tama Nickel-Plated Snare Drum:

This snare drum is great! Once I put new heads on it (coated Remo Emperor X batter, clear Diplomat snare side) it tuned up nicely. Best suited for medium to medium-high tension. Tuned up tight this drum delivers a nice sharp crack that will cut through most any high volume situations. At a medium to medium-high tuning, however is where it really shines. Big sound with just the right amount of ringing from the steel shell. This snare drum is an affordable alternative if you are looking for that Ludwig Supraphonic "John Bonham" type of tone. Sounds as good as many snares twice its price.

Comments about Tama Nickel-Plated Snare Drum:

Honestly, I thought this wasn't going to be a good drum, but boy was I wrong. It has a really nice sound and the drum overall had a really good feel to it. The only thing I would recommend is to get another snare head. The black chrome is great, but there are better heads. The black chrome head did work well on my toms.

I recently purchase the Tama 6.5X14 Nickel Plated snare as a back-up for live sessions, it feels great and sounds deep and with little bounce, they way I like my snare to sound during live performances, great sound with the Evans Black Chrome head as well

              Great snare for low/medium tone

              By Pedro

              from Phoenix, AZ

Comments about Tama Nickel-Plated Snare Drum:

i was able to try this snare before i bought it ($174), and i put this snare against a DW snare it was on sale for $300 (was$500), but right off the bat the tama sounded better. I don't like high tuned snares and the DW was to high pitched. I even tried tuning it down but still was to high. and had to much ring. THE TAMA does not have a long ring after you hit it sounds awesome. Good For low/Medium tuning

Nice drum...I play in a hard rock band and I'm a hard hitter...drum holds up...a little to much ring but a piece of moon gel helps..not a bad drum for the money

              Definitely worth the buy

              By Chris

              from Chicago, IL

Comments about Tama Nickel-Plated Snare Drum:

For only $199 I was able to upgrade to this snare from my stock 13" by 5" stock snare. I am able to get that "fat" sound that I was looking for. The downside is that the nickel plating starts to chip away with every rim shot that you do, or with normal travel wear and tear. It was great that it came with an Evans Black Chrome drumhead. I was able to bring it home and play on it right away and feel good about my purchase.
