Overview

This Iron Cobra Power Glide chain-drive double kick pedal features Tama's Cobra Coil. Power Glide off-set cam pedals are typically chosen by players who want a steady, powerful and speedy action. Tama's innovative Cobra Coil pedal spring accelerates the return of the footboard to its original position, resulting in an unbelievably effortless action that sets the already smooth Iron Cobra apart from all other pedals on the market.

Power Glide Cam
This Power Glide model features double-chained offset cams, which increase power and speed as the beaters reach the end of their strokes.

Cobra Coil
Until now, the only way to adjust your beater stroke action was to tighten the pedal spring. Sometimes that did the job. More often, the action just felt sluggish and heavier. Tama's latest innovation, the Cobra Coil, simply and easily solves the problem. A steel spring quickly returns the footboard to its original position, so the feel of the Iron Cobra is exceptional. The Cobra Coil can also be adjusted to different positions on the new Iron Cobra footboard base plate.

Cobra pedal housing
Iron Cobra pedals come equipped with nylon insulators for the bearing housings inside the pedal frame. The insulators keep the bearings centered in place and secured in the most stable position. This ensures proper bearing support for the drive shaft without unnecessary stress. The end result of these improvements is the smoothest pedal action possible.

Speedo-Ring
Tama eliminated another source of friction by replacing the traditional nylon rocker cam with the Speedo-Ring, a rocker cam with a high quality built-in ball bearing rocker.

Oiles bearing hinge
Offering even less friction than standard ball bearings, Oiles bearings also eliminate side-to-side motion and provide superior durability which is why they're used in the aerospace industry.

Spring Tight
Twisting springs severely reduce pedal smoothness. Spring Tight, a clever half-moon shaped spring tension rod, keeps the spring from twisting, so there's never any loss of power transmission.

Iron Cobra beater
The Iron Cobra beater adjusts the beater head angle to guarantee a flat hit to the bass drum head every time, translating your strike into maximum power. In addition, it's easy to obtain different bass drum sounds simply by changing the beater head.

Vari-Pitch beater holder
Vari-Pitch beater angle adjustments are completely independent of footboard angle. The Speedo-Ring allows you to adjust the angle of the footboard link independently of the beater angle. And with the combination of the Speedo-Ring and the Vari-Pitch, you can achieve any kind of stroke and also enjoy improved playability.

Para-Clamp II
Para-Clamp keeps your pedal flat on the floor no matter what your bass drum angle is. The Para-Clamp is tightened from the side, so you never have to insert your finger under the footboard. And since you can clamp your pedal to hoops up to 14mm (9/16") in thickness, Iron Cobra will fit just about any bass drum on the market.

Tight Lock
Tight Lock makes sure the beater shaft stays put by fixing and locking the square head bolt, which fixes the beater shaft.

Pedal Anchor
To keep left-side double pedals from walking, a special stabilizer is mounted to the outside frame. This augments the stability of the floor anchor bolts.

Connecting Rod
The aluminum-made connecting rod has made the light weight and smooth adjustment possible. Instead of the screws fixing the inner rod directly, the small plate inside spreads the pressure appropriately, so it can be tightened more securely without damaging the rod. This new design prevents the separation of the inner and outer rods when adjusting the length, which reduces the trouble during setup and teardown.

Quick-Hook
Quick-Hook not only allows rapid spring attachment and reattachment for rapid set up and tear down, it also eliminates wobbling and allows maximum power transmission to the Speedo-Ring. Plus, you never have to worry about it slipping off during performance.

Carrying Case
You know what pedals go through night after night. After being stomped on over and over, they get thrown in bags and road cases where there's more hard rock 'n' roll than during the gig itself.

That's why precision instruments like Tama's Iron Cobras come with a specially designed protective carrying case. It's amazing that no one thought of it before.

In the past I've used Pearl eliminators, Gibraltars, IC Jr and other pedals [got pretty dissapointed with the demon drive]. I purchased my Cobras this week and after a while of tweaking the settings I know there's no going back, those are the smoothest, fastest, lightest pedals i know, the cobra coil can make them feel a little too light in the beggining, but just adding the extra weights makes them just perfect, its like there's no pedal at all, what you play is what you get. I wouldn't change them for any other pedal i know!

This pedal is good and all, but it's way too light. Drummers wanna go faster so they get a lighter pedal, but in the end are very disappointed with it. The IC is that way. Too much slack in the chain causes the pedal to be sluggish and unresponsive, and it gets very annoying. The Cobra Coil doesn't help that problem at all either. If i were you, I'd save up for the DW 9000s. They are insanely good!!! That's what I'm switching to as soon as I can get some extra cash.

Iron Cobra Double Pedal

By Moses

from Weslaco, Tx

This pedal is the best pedal out of all the ones i have owned, it beats the pearl eliminator, DW 5000, it even beated my DW 9000, this pedal has been my favorite, fast response, less pricier than the DW 9000 but if you want the speed this is the pedal of your dreams! you wont regret it!!!

IC PowerGlide

By Spike

from Calera, AL

This pedal is amazing! The best on the market! The adjustments are unlimited, and it's like your not playing a pedal at all! Though, I was disappointed with the Cobra Coil. The spring causes the pedal to return too quickly no matter what setting you have it on, so the best thing to do would be to take them off. Other than the Cobra Coil, the pedal is amazing! I would bye another to replace it if i needed to!

Iron Cobra Power Glide

By Alex Orlando

from Troy MI

In my 4 years of drumming i have played numerous pedals..from DW 7000s, 000s, to multiple Axis pedals and pearl Eliminators. Bu these are by far my favorite pedal. The features are just so amazing! There are so many settings to get the right feel--its incredible. The smoothness is top notch too. It's so easy to use and so easy to adjust. With the cobras it literally feels like you're kicking air. Trust me--don't waste your money on those hyped up Demon Drive pedals. Nearly 1/2 the price you can get amazing pedals from an amazing companies with just as good quality. Don't look anywhere else--buy the cobras!

Excellent pedal.

By Billy R

from Fort Worth, TX

Very nice pedal here. I upgraded from a PDP DP402 double bass pedal. This extremely smooth and extremely versatile. Can adjust it many ways to fit your liking. Adjusting the beater angle and the foot-board and not conflicting each other is amazing. Purchase this pedal! You will not be disappointed!

good but not my thing

By Evan C.

from monrovia, ca

the pedals are great! dont get me wrong. they are super light and fast but maybe to light. since theyre super light they react slow because there isnt as much tension on the chain if they had been made heavier. this can be changed by switching out the beater. all in all, they are great pedals. but there are just to many adjustments you can make and in the end you wish there was a restore to default button on them. so play them first and then try the DW 5000's which are what i now play after i traded in the iron cobras

Very good pedal

By Brian

from Glendora, CA

These are great pedals. Very fast and light. Beaters tend to be much lighter than most pedals but adding extra beater weights help a bunch. Super smooth and much easier to adjust than the DW's. Only complaint is they don't seem as sturdy as the DW's. Highly recommend.

AMAZING!

By Asylum

from Plymouth MN

I went to my local Guitar Center today to look at some double pedals, I wasn't impressed with any especially the DW 9002's. They were actually so bad which was weird cause soo many people like them so it might have been just that one im not sure. I sat down at a Yamaha electric kit(which was pretty awesome too) and they had the new Pearl Demon Drive. They felt amazing! I was going soo fast. So i was thinking "Hey, this are awesome! Plus they look sweet too." I was trying those until someone who was using the new Roland electric kit(best electric kit on the market no doubt) had to leave and told me about that kit so I went and tried it not thinking about the pedals it might have on it. I sat down and as soon as I got a great metal beat going I notice my feet were just flying, I was going so fast. I looked down and I saw these! I keep up different fast beats for quite a while and I didn't get tired nearly as fast as any other pedals there, even the new Tama Speed Cobra Iron Cobras(which weren't bad at all). I looked at the price . I couldn't believe it! They were about half the price of the Demon Drive, but waaay better. This is all my opinion, I hope I convinced you to go buy these. But its all personal preference, the only way to tell if these are right for you is to try them yourself. Thanks for reading! :) -Asylum

its all personal preference

By paistedrummer1234

from Jesup GA

dont get me wrong these are great pedals, but they are a little too light. these pedals feel cheap to me and just dont pack a punch. all i can say is switch the beaters with heavier ones. The best part about these pedals though is they are very fast which is a huge factor if you play metal. the adjustments has its pros and cons but in my opinion theres just too many. These would be alot better pedals if they made the beaters heavier and didnt make everything so light. personally i like dw 5000 better. they hit a alot harder and are much smoother in my opinion and dont feel cheap at all. thats just my opinion. when purchasing a pedal consider: the type of music you play, the feel, and how smooth they are. just remember the best pedal is the one you like the best, go by personal preference not brand loyalty. overall very good pedals these are one of the top five i would recommend.
