This snare drum is definately LOUD, with nice crack, attack and ring,if you tune it too high it will sound like gunshots but i recommend you to tune the batter side about medium-tight or lower and the snare side tight, i find it as a very versatile snare drum because you can play any genre with it including metal and jazz, the stock heads are:
Batter side Evans/Tama G1 Coated
Snare side Tama/Evans Hazy 300 (if you want a more focused/controlled sound i recommend you to change it to the original Evans Hazy 300 because the original Evans Hazy 300 will reduce overtones and the snare buzz).
This is the least "ringy" snare drum from the starphonic's series for me, the other ones ring more than this one, the most ringy snare drum from the starphonic's series is the aluminum although is great and a must have it wasn't my favorite and i like aluminum snare drum but i found the S. Aluminum too ringy for my liking.The Starphonic Bubinga is definately a really new weapon in your arsenal and a must have. You should definately buy it.
