I was looking to get a 13" snare and tried out several ranging from 200.00 to 1000.00 This one is by far the best one I played. For the price there is nothing better on the market. I was amazed how good this snare sounds. I used to use a Yamaha tour custom maple 14x6 snare that sounded really good. Since I bought the S.L.P It hasn't left my kit. This snare is a must have. The best investment Ive made for my kit. And wont break the bank.
"After reading and listening and coveting the new SLP G-Maple Snare for the last 3 months, I finally grabbed one from GuitarCenter locally. My initial hesitation was just that I had never played a 13X7 size and was worried it might be to drastic for how and what I play, which is R&B, Classic Rock and Blues. Damn! This drum is superb. I replaced the factory Evans head with an Evans Genera HD Dry Batter head and WHAM! I can tune it up for CRACK or down a little for BEEF and either way, I am blown away by the sound. It is rich fat and full! I could not be happier. Thank you, Tama. It works right into my StarClassic Birch kit."
I purchased this snare on the look until I heard the sound. Until I got it home was when I realized the jewel that I found in the ruff. Tama really shined on this snare series and I must say that it is one of their best kept secrets. With its 13 plies and very high end but plate and throw off, it is definitely a looker. The sound is to die for! Up against any other maple snare on the market (unless you are bias to Tama)this wins hands down. Versatile, durable and deep and warm; this snare will stand out!
