A brawny, maple-shelled snare for power drummers who refuse to sacrifice tonal quality for big sound.

The Tama S.L.P. G-Maple Snare is at the nexus of the snare drum universe. A fusion of boutique-style, select hardwoods and unique dimensions, it delivers a rich, thick tone with bright and surprising volume. With a thick 13-ply 10mm Maple shell, the generous dimensions and appearance of the drum make an immediate impression.

However, the innovations don't stop at the tone and appearance. Tama's work on identifying the ideal snare sound led them to develop the new hardware like the "Sound Arc" Hoops which add sustain, wider tuning range and a fuller frequency response. Hearty brass tube lugs will ensure a long lifespan for your tension rods, as well as your tune. And finally, the Starclassic Hi- Carbon Steel Snappy snares will emphasize needed punch and attack, as needed.

Tama S.L.P. G-Maple Snare Drum Features:

  • Shell: 13-ply/10mm, Maple shell with Tamo Ash outer ply
    Size: 13 x 7"
Finish: Satin Tamo Ash w/Chrome hardware
    Hoop: Die-Cast Hoop
    Lug: Brass Tube Lug
Snappy: 20 strand Starclassic Hi- Carbon Steel Snappy snares

  • A working drummer's best friend!

As reviewed by Rockwell Silas on 3/21/2012

This thing honestly blew me away! out of the box this thing sounded beautiful without any sort of adjustment whatsoever! I play mostly contemporary jazz, neo soul, gospel, r&b and Hip Hop and i was looking for the pop of a 3x13 but the body of a 6x14 and this thing delivers just that. it has the versatility to dial in just about any sound you can imagine with just the right pop if you need it and with its 7 inch depth, you get such beautiful body and mid range tones, in my opinion, this is THE snare you would ever need! Tama also does a wonderful job with the craftsmanship cause this thing looks as beautiful as it sounds. I would highly recommend this one!!

  • Amazing!

As reviewed by Timothy Puliz on 3/20/2013

I was looking to get a 13" snare and tried out several ranging from 200.00 to 1000.00 This one is by far the best one I played. For the price there is nothing better on the market. I was amazed how good this snare sounds. I used to use a Yamaha tour custom maple 14x6 snare that sounded really good. Since I bought the S.L.P It hasn't left my kit. This snare is a must have. The best investment Ive made for my kit. And wont break the bank.

  • Best Snare

As reviewed by Davian Prospere on 5/2/2013

This snare is phenomenal; it has a great tone and nice snare resonance. What I like about the snare is that it has two dials compared with other snares which can control the amount of sustain from the snare wires creating that dry crisp sound or loose resonance. Ring issue for me is not a problem because maple is dense enough to control ringing sustain. I give this snare 10/10.
