Massive tone pours from Takamine's new Pro Series P1JC cutaway jumbo. This, together with the guitar's smooth playability and state-of-the-art onboard electronics, makes for a deeply satisfying acoustic experience both onstage and off. Great warmth, balance and harmonic richness resound from its X-braced solid cedar top and sapele back and sides. An elegant Venetian cutaway offers optimum access to the upper registers. Other premium features include a mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlays. The unique Takamine split-saddle bone bridge provides faultless intonation and excellent acoustic coupling to the top. The P1JC also features chrome die-cast machine heads for superb tuning stability, a gloss naturalfinish top on satin back and sides, and the highly acclaimed CT4B II preamp system with three-band EQ, volume control and built-in tuner.

The Palathetic pickup
Using six individually shielded piezo-electric elements, one for each string, the Palathetic pickup is not a just a UST (under saddle pickup). In fact the Takamine design employs twelve times the element mass of the typical under saddle pickup. The six elements penetrate the bridge plate, soundboard and bridge to make direct contact with the saddle creating a sonic linkage with the string. The pickup casing is mechanically attached to the guitars top and bridge creating a sonic linkage with the soundboard. The result of this design is a signal that possesses the articulation of an isolated string signal and the rich harmonic content delivered by the resonating soundboard for a full, complete and accurate acoustic guitar tone at high sound pressure levels.

CT4B II Preamp Features
The CT4B II preamp is designed for ease of use and purity of tone. The CT4B II consists of 3 bands of graphic EQ tone control, a volume control slider and a built-in chromatic tuner.

The 3 band EQ provides control over the bass (LOW), midrange (MID) and treble (HIGH) frequency response. With the sliders set at the midpoint (0) the electric signal from the guitar is evenly balanced across the frequency range. The desired tone is then dialed in by using the sliders to add or subtract frequency response as desired. Each frequency control slider will raise or lower the band response by +/-5db.

The volume slider adjusts the output volume of the preamp.

The convenient built-in chromatic tuner is extremely accurate and very easy to use. The tuner is activated by pressing the TUNER POWER button. To tune your instrument, simply pluck any open string. The tuner will then display the name of the note that has the closest frequency of the string played. The amount of deviation from the note (higher or lower) is displayed by red arrows indicating sharp or flat. When only the green center light illuminates, the note indicated in red has reached precise tuning. When the guitar is unplugged, the TUNER POWER switch acts as on and off.

Your CT4B II tuner is also capable of being calibrated to frequencies other than standard A440. When the PITCH button is pressed, the frequency that is currently set will be shown by a flashing red light above the frequency number. While the reference light is flashing, press the Pitch repeatedly to set the desired reference pitch. With each press of the button, the reference pitch will increase by 1Hz increments from 440Hz to 445Hz. Once the pitch has reached 445Hz, the next press will decrease the pitch to 438Hz. When the button operation is stopped, the reference pitch is set and the tuner will stand by for tuning.

To facilitate silent on-stage tuning, the TUNER POWER button also acts as a mute switch when the guitar is played amplified. If you wish to be able to tune with your signal amplified, simply press the TUNER POWER a second time. Press a third time to shut off the tuner function. The tuner will shut off automatically when there is no signal for a couple of minutes.

Comments about Takamine Pro Series 1 Jumbo Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Been playing a quilted maple acoustic for the past 6 or 7 years and just never have I been happy about the way my voiced matched the guitar. I played a friends Taylor that had a cedar top with rosewood back and sides and really liked it and my voice worked well with it. This one has the cedar top with sapele back and sides which adds more warmth, which I like.
I knew I'd never be able to afford the same model guitar he had so I had to start looking for something in my price range and this girl fit the bill. I was leery about buying an acoustic without playing it first, but decided to go ahead and give it a shot since M.F. has a good return policy if not completely satisfied.
Well it arrived and I took it out of the case, tuned it up and was blown away. This thing will go unplugged or plugged in. Projects very well and the electronics sound great. Tuner works good and is accurate. The mahogany neck plays very well and with the satin finish you can move around quickly. Very happy with the match between this guitar and my voice.
Now I'm not gonna set here and tell you that it blows those high end Taylor's or Martins away, but it will hold it's own against them.
If you're looking for a great sounding no frills gigging mans guitar with a decent price tag then this big ole girl will get the job done. Barring fire, theft or an accident this guitar will be with me the rest of my days.

      Musician's Fiend is the BEST!

Comments about Takamine Pro Series 1 Jumbo Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This review is really about MUSICIAN'S FRIEND, however this TAKAMINE PRO SERIES 1 JUMBO CUTAWAY ACOUSTIC-ELECTRIC GUITAR is literally the best acoustic guitar I have ever played. Plugged in, this guitar is concert quality! I would not hesitate to play it at Carnegie Hall (if anyone would come). Unplugged,it has a rich sound because of the larger size, and the intonation is perfect all the way up and down the neck. The CT4B II preamp system is amazing, each string has a dedicated pick up that brings each string out in crisp detail, and the tuner is dead on. BUT, the main thing is that the TAKAMINE I bought was from MF's USED GUITAR section. MUSICIAN'S FRIEND rated it a CONDITION 3 which is supposed to be well used. Well, the guitar was almost perfect, the only thing wrong (now get this) was that it was 12 years old, never been played and the protective plastic on the pickguard and pick up controls had been on so long they were adhered, which took some time to remove. This guitar has a gold sticker inside that says it's a 50th anniversary model (did I say it had never been played?) It's now perfect with the plastic film gone. The guys at MF told me on the phone that it was a good guitar and they have always been great and straight with me. MUSICIAN'S FRIEND, I will go to you guys first EVERY TIME I need anything! The TAKAMINE PRO SERIES 1 JUMBO CUTAWAY ACOUSTIC-ELECTRIC GUITAR. It's true to it's name - just like MF, "PRO".

This Japanese beauty had me at hello.

Comments about Takamine Pro Series 1 Jumbo Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I first bought the G series jumbo which was gorgeous and sounded and played the same way,but it had a chip on the front soundboard so I sent it back.Should of went through Guitar Center instead of dealing with the freekn hassle of shipping it back, and then waiting for the bank stuff to right itself. If I went through GC it all would of been the same day.But back to this Guitar.Best Guitar Ive ever owned. The craftsmanship is off the charts. This model is the sleeper, hands down.Solid spruce top,Sapele (African mahogany)Sides and back. And the preamp is renowned and sounds awesome.I looked long and hard and none of the proven top end Guitar makers had these tone woods for this price.Go ahead, go search yourself.I recorded myself with a top of the line Yamaha that had good tone woods itself and it sounded real good. Then I did the same parts with this, and it was almost night and day.I could hear beautiful fundamentals and overtones that I never heard with the Yamaha.I cant say enough about this guitar.Rings out but not over bearing and plays smooth with the nice finnish.Cant wait for the wood to age a little.I wont be selling or trading this one.I ordered this a month ago and it was worth the wait.Thank you Takamine for taking pride in your guitars and Guitar Center for getting it here as soon as it came in,like you said.At the listed price, this is a STEAL.Last time I had this feeling was when my mom got me a dirt bike.:->
