this guitar is awesome!!!

By greggster

Comments about Takamine GS330S Acoustic Guitar:

ok, so i went to my local guitarcenter wanting to buy a nice acoustic guitar for under 900 dollars. so i found the martin dm, and i was soo excited i thought it played great and it was a martin. so i had my heart pretty much set. then i saw this guitar, and just to blow some time i picked it up and started to play. OMG i was amazed! it was louder, had a great tone, it was amazing! and i still hadnt even looked at the price. so while im playing this, in my head im comparing it to a 800 dollar martin. this guitar sounded soo much better! so im thinking well this takamine must caust like 1500 bucks or sumtin. wen i looked, i swear my jaw dropped. this guitar is in my oppinion better than a 800 dollar martin. this is a great guitar. buy it!

More Praise

Comments about Takamine GS330S Acoustic Guitar:

I played probably every sub $500 dollar guitar I could get my hands on before making this purchase and have not been disappointed. It's hard to believe the sound quality you get from such a moderately priced guitar. I highly recommend this model to anyone shopping the sub 500 category.

A superb sounding guitar for the price!

By plateau1999

from Virginia Beach, VA

Comments about Takamine GS330S Acoustic Guitar:

For less than $300 the sound and feel of this guitar rivals those of say, Seagull, Martin, or even Taylor brands. The sound resonating from the cedar top gives a slightly warmer sound that is perfect for finger picking or strumming. Not as bassy as some Yamahas or Ovations, but a perfect balance for mic recordings or just picking up and playing for the heck of it. This guitar will satisfy even the most consummate of players. Before your spend $1500 or even upwards of $2000 for a guitar give the GS330S a try. The salesperson I spoke to about this guitar recommended it and I am not disappointed by my decision about this marvelous sounding instrument.

the reviews say it all

By Trey-Page

Comments about Takamine GS330S Acoustic Guitar:

This is my first guitar, I am thrilled about it. Best buy in the store for $300. Read the reviews on guitars in $200-300 range. I narrowed it down to three guitars, showed the guy at the store the list. He automaticly says I'll prob walk out with the Takamine, well'll see... A true testimate to all the other reviews is the sound. The bass sounds are amazing, the resination is awesome and the high end is very clean. The Ibanez I tryed out sounded like an electric, it was a very articulate sound. I like the rich warm sound of the Takamine. Go buy one...they could easily mark this thing up to 450 IMO.

Comments about Takamine GS330S Acoustic Guitar:

Buy now this guitar! It's really amazing the sound like Everybody said on all reviews. Believe me, This is the best guitar at GC! The only thing is not eletric but I'm going to buy the fishman rare earth pickup to play at gigs. So stop spend thousands in instruments like martins and taylors and start to spend more time studying in a good guitar. Actually instrument is not all about but a good instrument helps to express your music.

Stunning... Especially for the price!

By Bob Allen

from Oskaloosa, Iowa

Comments about Takamine GS330S Acoustic Guitar:

I bought this guitar at the West Des Moines Guitar Center, where, by the way, the staff is tops. Very knowledgeable & helpful. I directly compared this guitar to many Martins, Guilds, Seagulls, Taylors, and other Takamines, and I must say this one compares to the best guitars in the $1000 price range. The neck was set up perfectly. It's ridiculously easy to play for an acoustic, with a thinner neck profile than most others. The frets were well-finished, and the fingerboard is silky-smooth. From the first chord I strummed, I was gobsmacked. I was sure the price tag was a typo. The volume is huge, and the tone leans toward the bright side, (which I prefer) and lively, with a good balance in all frequency ranges. The highs shimmer on this guitar, and the sustain is excellent. The tone was actually slightly bigger and louder than the big grand auditorium Takamine I tried. The tuners are petite, but high-quality. They operate smoothly, and hold their tune very well. I also love the unique string-through bridge that eliminates fussing with pegs when changing strings. All acoustic guitars should be made this way. The appearance of this guitar is downright spartan. There's no neck inlays, no pickguard, and minimal cosmetic touches. But it's the sound and the action that matter, and that's where this guitar shines. I haven't played a sub-$1000 acoustic from any maker that can touch it. If you're looking for a killer deal on a great acoustic, you owe it to yourself to check out the Takamine GS330S. You'll be very surprised.

Amazing for the price!!!

By Sean Olds

from Kansas City, MO

Comments about Takamine GS330S Acoustic Guitar:

I have been searching for a new acoustic for about 3 months now and today I brought this home. I was in the GC room checking out all the Martins and Taylors but I couldn't find anything that projected well or had enough bass to it (under $900). So as I'm walking out of the "look but don't touch" room I noticed this Takamine and decided to pick it up. I've always been partial to satin or unfinished guitars and this one is a beauty (much better looking than the picture above). Needless to say I was astonished at the sound and projection. Plenty of bass and highs. The only complaints I have is that the strings that come on it aren't quite right for the guitar and mine are already dead after 2 hrs of playing. But that's not Takamine's fault. Also that there isn't another pin for the strap on the neck side of the body, but thats not that big of a deal. All in all.........AMAZING!

Comments about Takamine GS330S Acoustic Guitar:

I recently bought this guitar and it is amazing. It has a very full tone to it and the bass sounds are incredible. It is by far one of the best acoustics out there for this price. It's hard to find a good guitar for this amount of money, but boy do I tell you, when you try this one you will be hooked just like I was.

Surprise!

By Dave

from Tucson, AZ

Comments about Takamine GS330S Acoustic Guitar:

I wasn't really shopping, just hanging around between guitar shops, and played 40 or more guitars because I did need a new steel string. I had never heard of this model, and just picked it up because I loved the way it looked -- a G-series Natural? And then I played it, and kept going back to it, and finally decided to put it on layaway and checked the price. And just bought the thing and took it home. I can't say it was the best sounding guitar I played that day -- but it was definitely the best sounding and playing guitar under a grand I played, and that's saying something, considering how many stores and guitars I spent time with. I play it for a couple of hours every day, and teach with it. Awesome, gorgeous sound, great feel. The satin finish on the neck is polished shiny now -- just be aware of that.

Takamine GS330S Acoustic Guitar

By Beezy

from WA

Comments about Takamine GS330S Acoustic Guitar:

This guitar is amazing! And for the price, nothing else that I have played compares. My previous acoustic was a cheaper epiphone which was ok starting ok, but the better I got at playing, the more I didn't like the way it sounded. Luckily, it broke during a drunken night which made me go guitar shopping the next morning. I really wanted a Martin but i did not have 1500 dollars to spend on the one I wanted. So I played the lower end martins and almost bought one when one of the sales people at GC told me to try the Takamine out. 400 dollars less than the lower end martin, and had a much better sound! There were a few guitars in between 800-1000 that sounded a little better, but not enough to justify spening that much more money when a 300 dollar guitar does the job perfectly. Go to GC and try it out!

Nothing Better for the Price!

By Dan

from Fort Myers, FL

Comments about Takamine GS330S Acoustic Guitar:

I just purchased the GS330S today from my local Guitar Center in Fort Myers, FL. The solid cedar top on this guitar is provides an amazing balance in tone. The nice thing about cedar as opposed to spruce is, it takes longer for spruce to break in than cedar. With cedar you get that "broken in" tone without the wait. Also, the satin finish is the best for cedar because cedar is softer than spruce and it needs to "breathe" to have the best tone. Even the higher end Takamine AN-10 has the satin finish for the cedar top. To me, this guitar sounds as good as all of the guitars that are similar and more in price from the competition. This guitar even has a "growling" bass! I love bass. I also love treble and this guitar has such nice crisp and clean treble too. The tonal balance really is striking. This guitar really does live up to the reviews!

What a great guitar!

By bshpmark

Comments about Takamine GS330S Acoustic Guitar:

I just purchased the GS330S and all I can say is WOW!! It sounds awesome. It has excellent volume. The action was near perfect making this so easy to play. It came with D'Addario light strings. The guitar is very lightweight making it easy to hold. I played a Martin DX1 when I bought this and was going to buy the DX1 until I played the GS330S. The GS330S won hands down over the Martin DX1. It sounds so much richer and louder and as one reviewer said, it really sounds sweet. The satin finish is beautiful, much darker than the photo here shows. It has beautiful grain to it. I did add a pick guard. I like the fact that this guitar does not have bridge pins. The strings run through the bridge. You won't go wrong buying this guitar!

Astounding guitar, incredible price.

By Bob Allen

from Oskaloosa, Iowa

Comments about Takamine GS330S Acoustic Guitar:

I've been playing semi-professionally for 25+ years, and have owned many guitars over the years from Gibson, Fender, Gretsch, and many other respected makers. This is one of the best playing, best sounding acoustics I have ever played. I compared this guitar to every under-$2000 Taylor, Martin, Breedlove, and Epiphone Master-Built acoustic the West Des Moines Guitar Center had, and this humble Takamine was the overall winner. Some of the others played as well, but didn't sound as good. Others sounded close to the Takamine but weren't as easy to play. This Takamine was the double-whammy of playability and stellar tone quality. It also records beautifully. It is the easiest playing acoustic I've ever played. The tone is loud, clear, and bold, with sparkling highs and great sustain. the bass is warm, but not boomy. The tone is extremely well-balanced and among the best I've heard from any acoustic guitar, regardless of price. Many guitars come with cheap strings installed, but the Takamines come with D'Addarios. A nice touch. Build quality is very good, and fit and finish were excellent. The only tweaking I did was to tighten the nuts on the tuners. Cosmetically, it's very spartan with no bling. Not a showy guitar, this one is made to play. Since it's finish is matte, it's not as well protected from scratches as a hard gloss finish, but unless you abuse it, it shouldn't be a problem. Before picking this one up, I would have laughed off the notion that a $300 guitar could equal or even best a $2000 Martin or Taylor in the tone & playability department. But this one does. It's a great guitar, and not just "for the money". I'd recommend it for anyone from beginner to seasoned pro.

Best Sounding Cheap Guitar

By Paul Gaschler

from Imperial, Nebraska

Comments about Takamine GS330S Acoustic Guitar:

This is a great sounding guitar for the price. i have had one for a year now and just love the sound, and have played many others in various guitar stores, and thought the same. The secret is the cedar top that has such a warmer tone than spruce tops in this price range The neck is slim, and the satin finish is really beautiful. It does scratch pretty easily, especially the back and sides, but that just adds character. The action was fine on mine, but obviously you should expect to adjust that on any new guitar. One of the best unknown features on this guitar is the string in bridge, no bridge pins = no hassle. The picture shown above is not quite what it looks like, like i said it has a string in bridge, unlike the picture shown. Also, it has very, very good tuners for this price range and stays in tune quite well. Would make a great starter acoustic for someone who wants a cheaper, quality instrument and wants the best sound for the price range.

The Best Guitar Ever

By Nick Burkel

from Sayville, New York

Comments about Takamine GS330S Acoustic Guitar:

This Takamine is the best guitar without spending tons of cash. What is nice is it is a very loud guitar. There is also no gloss I hate when guitars have that because If you play for a while your hand sticks to the neck. In my opinion the neck is very comfortable . I also think that this guitar would look horrible with a pickguard. The guitar is beautiful and is the best guitar you will get for your money. Overall I think you are crazy if you don't buy this guitar.

Perfect!!

By chris

from Hawaii

Comments about Takamine GS330S Acoustic Guitar:

After reading a lot of reviews I decided to purchase this guitar. It arrived in no time and was in perfect condition. I tuned it quickly and let her rip. The sound quality is as good as others have stated. I've owned several guitars all in this price range and am happiest with this one based on sound and appearance. I've never played expensive guitars and couldn't compare this to any of them. The guitar has a very soft satin finish and the back and sides are much darker than pictured (I'm glad). In the long run durability might be a question as the wood is soft without the heavy laminate. If it upsets me then, I'll pick up a new one. At this price I think it is a fantastic guitar.

Nothing better for the money

By John

from Findlay, Ohio

Comments about Takamine GS330S Acoustic Guitar:

This guitar is a no-frills guitar. There is no pick guard, no neck inlays, no shiny finish. All you pay for is a high quality instrument that plays easily, stays in tune and sounds great. I'm glad I went to a GC to get it rather than buying it on line and messing with a delivery guy coming while I'm at work. If you have $300, drive to a Guitar Center and ask where they hang this guitar. (A good, quality strap is cheaper on line though)

Can't be beat for the price

By rincon1840

from Indiana

Comments about Takamine GS330S Acoustic Guitar:

I've had this for about 4 months now. You really can't beat it for the price. I'm a beginner and I can't see myself replacing this for a long time. Every now and then I wander back into the GC acoustic room just to compare it, and my decision to purchase this is reinforced every time. It came down to this, the low-end Martins, or G780 Yamaha. This guitar had a noticably different sound. And it looks much better in person.
