I took this guitar off the wall at GC and didn't put it down for 2 hours. For the price this guitar really delivers: looks, playability and great electric sound. I was going in for the Martin or Taylor, but this guitar caught my eye and I never looked back. Sounds as well or better than higher priced models, nice bass tone and sweet stylings. It will work great for the home studio as well as stage performance. Try it before you look any further, you won't be disappointed.

I bought this as my first beginner guitar. It sounded absolutely fantastic, although one day I was fiddling around with all the notes and noticed the 12th fret had buzzing coming from all strings. I took it to my local GC and they noted the guitar was defective, so I replaced it with a Martin. So, I will not say this guitar is "bad" it's just mine was defective, and I'm sure you'll love it as much as I did, just make sure you check that 12th fret!

SO GOOD!

Comments about Takamine G Series EG363SC Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I just bought this guitar today from the local GC and while I was in the store playing the guitars, I knew that this was the one for me. not only is the tone amazing but it plays like butter and the electronics work great! I must say I could not have gotten a better guitar for that price. If I had to try and describe this guitar with one word it would be, gorgeous! Takamine got my vote with this one and I'll be keeping it for a while. take the time to try this one out cause you won't be disappointed!

Comments about Takamine G Series EG363SC Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

when i bought this guitar i was looking at a bunch of different brands and when i saw this one i just fell in love. sounds great with a set of elixr strings. the only down side is for some reason my guitar has a defect in the neck on the 13th fret. its almost like the wood has a bubble in it causing a frett buzz. im either gonna get it fixed or have this replaced with the same guitar. overall awesome!!

My next one

Comments about Takamine G Series EG363SC Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I played this guitar at GC this weekend and fell in love. I was looking at the "X-series" Martin's when the sales guy showed me this Tak. I had my mind set on a Martin but this Tak sounds as good as it looks. The mahogany G-series that is $200 more than this one sounds a bit mellower. I liked that one too. What I liked about both of them was the built in tuner. After 20 years of playing my hearing is a little off and the tuner allowed me to dial it in perfect. The EG363SC is my next buy.

Awesome

Comments about Takamine G Series EG363SC Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Love this guitar. I bought a Taylor 110E that was too bright and wanted something more well rounded. I tried this guitar and fell in love. It is better than the Taylor and costs much less. Plus it is more beautiful, built more solid, and sounds awesome unplugged and plugged. I couldn't be happier. My Taylor is going on Craigslist immediately.

Great value, great guitar

By Zachary Klein

Comments about Takamine G Series EG363SC Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar can hold it's own against many twice it's price - the combination of rosewood and maple add a richness to the tone, and the large spruce top gives plenty of volume & projection (as would be expected from a spruce dreadnought). This is also a simply beautiful instrument - not many guitars under 1k can cause an aesthetically-minded player to stop and stare, but this one can - the guy at my local GC were almost drooling over it when I checked it in. It's a lovely instrument, and it matches that with a powerful, rich and clear tone. Compared to my Mitchell dreadnought (solid spruce with mahogany back/sides), it was a much more distinct sound (as opposed to the softer, 'warm' sound of a mahogany back'd guitar), which makes sense given the use of hard (bright) maple and soft (dark) rosewood. This guitar should really stand out in a mix - keep in mind that that may not be what you want; I'd say that if I wanted my guitar to meld in the background of a mix I'd prefer a mahogany-back to this guitar - but if you want a dynamic, exciting sound then this guitar is a great pick.

Comments about Takamine G Series EG363SC Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

i bought this guitar yesterday at my local gc. luckily they had one in the back that was still in original box.so i got one that hasnt been played since leaving the takamine factory. for weeks ive been debating whether i wanted to get this guitar or my lifelong dream guitar, the gibson hummingbird. this guitar has a better sound, and perfect playing action right out of the box and costs $2500 less than the gibson,so that gives more money to upgrade my sound system.overall this is one of the best guitars there is!! i have no regrets with my purchase. the electonics are wonderful and easy to use and the built in tuner is always a plus. sounds amazing plugged or unplugged. i found its as easy to play as a high end taylor and sound just as good if not better. the appearance of this guitar is absolutly beautiful. cant wait to show it off to my band.YOUVE GOTTA SEE THIS ONE IN PERSON,PICTURES DO IT NO JUSTICE. WAY TO GO TAKAMINE

beautiful guitar

Comments about Takamine G Series EG363SC Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I just bought this guitar a month ago and I am very satisfied with the quality of the instrument. It plays great both plugged and unplugged. The only thing is that to me the string felt a bit high at first, but now that I have gotten used to it, I donۡt even think about it and it has helped me build strength in my hand. If you are thinking of buying a new guitar, this is a great option.

Absolutely Incredible!!

By TJ

Comments about Takamine G Series EG363SC Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I went to GC looking to replace my old starter guitar. I had no preference on any brand and played them all. I must have played 25 different guitars before the employee pulled this one from the back. Played it for 45 minutes and knew I had to have it. Features: The Takamine Preamp is excellent and it's not complicated to use. The built-in tuner is chromatic, so if you haven't developed an ear yet you can tune any string to any pitch (very helpful if you're trying to tune into "open" tunings). The tuners are of very high quality, and the black satin peg covers feel great. The tuners are nice and tight feeling, so it ads confidence that the guitar will stay in tune. It already has great action, and a strap button drilled into the heel of the neck. Quality&Reliability: I feel extremely confident holding this guitar, the three piece back and rosewood sides feel sturdy. Strong wood could be used for some percussion, I feel confident that it would hold up. I tend to play across a large dynamic range and knowing that I can "hammer" down on this guitar and get it loud is a big plus. Look&Feel: The finish on this guitar is flawless. Nice Abalone inlays and rosette. The back is a three piece RW-Maple-RW back that is absolutely stunning, that alone almost sold me on the guitar. The gold hardware is gorgeous, and like I said earlier the action is nice and tight. It has a nice glossy finish that makes the wood really "pop". The color is lighter than in the picture but will age beautifully I'm sure. Overall this guitar is legit. I didn't play any high end guitars, but for what I paid I feel like I got an excellent guitar, I told the employee I was looking for anything between 400 and 600 bucks. This guitar has a nice deep bass response and plenty of highs to mix in. Well worth my money.

A nice bright sound, with stunning beauty!

By Stephen

Comments about Takamine G Series EG363SC Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Went in to Guitar Center with the pure intention to pick up an acoustic-electric. Was almost 100% set on getting an Ovation, but I knew to try a few others. I walked in to the room with the $2000 Martins/Taylors, and saw this sitting on the wall. I thought it was odd that a $500 guitar was in with all those, but after playing it, I figured it was in there for a good reason. This acoustic plays wonderfully. The action was set great for my playing, and the sound was crystal clear, and amazingly bright. Not too bright though, it sounded perfect to me. It has nearly zero fret "buzz," and sounds exactly what I was looking for in an acoustic. Not only does the sound quality blow me away, this acoustic is absolutely beautiful! The inlay at the 12th fret amazes me everytime. And the woodwork on the back is gorgeous! The gold hardware is a nice touch, as well. I have yet to plug her in yet, but I wouldn't comment on the sound from a high-gain amplifier anyway. My only complaint is lack of a pickguard, but I could probably easily slap one on.

SEXY!

By kent

from Los Angeles, CA

Comments about Takamine G Series EG363SC Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Building my own home studio so I needed a good acoustic/electric under $700 that I could play plugged and unplugged. Spent 3 days at GC comparing just about EVERY acoustic/electric in my price range and ultimately came home with the EG363. The 3pc back is the sexiest I've seen. It also uses the TP-4T preamp, standard on Takamine G series, which makes it sound even better plugged in. This dreadnought is as well-rounded as they come with warm low and mid ranges & clear bright tones without buzzing; string/fret action isn't as high as other G series I looked at, replace with low gauge strings for ease of use. Another con is the missing pick-guard but if you have to, throw one on yourself for less than $10. It sounds just as good as a Martin or mid-end Taylor & the detailed aesthetics are to die for! I'd expect any other brand to sell this beauty for $1000+ but I got it in-store for $499, throw in the Xmas Discount & Pro Coverage? Best investment EVER.

Planning to make this one mine

By Wit

from Alexandria, Virginia

Comments about Takamine G Series EG363SC Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've played this guitar a few times since Guitar Center started carrying it. First let me tell you the photos on this website don't do it justice. The details, inlay, tuners and bindings make this one very sexy, good looking guitar. For the price you not only get a lot out of the looks but sound too which is where it counts. Being a dreadnaught body you can get some really big sound out of this guitar - even unplugged! The neck is silky smooth and over all has a great feel to it with lots of playability. For the money you might be paying more for a beginners guitar but it's worth it with this guitar. This model could easily be an excellent intermediate or advanced players guitar, hell even standing out in the hands of a pro! I have a straight acoustic Takamine and I plan to bring it in to trade up for this model very soon if they have any left on the wall after Christmas. Try this guitar out you won't be disappointed and you'll be wanting to take one home too.
