Overview

The Takamine G NEX EG440CS Acoustic-Electric Guitar has a flamed maple top and a pleasing, rounded profile that's narrow at the waist, yet broad behind the bridge. The Takamine signature NEX guitar design creates a soundboard that offers a balanced frequency response with deep bass, clear treble, and a sweet, round midrange that projects quite well.

The body carries the depth of a dreadnought to ensure a great level of volume. The guitar's cutaway provides plenty of range and comfort when accessing the upper-register frets. The flamed maple top, back, and sides offer full tone, clear projection, and a gorgeous look. The dovetail neck joint, rosewood bridge and fretboard, and mahogany neck offer plenty of sustain. An asymmetrical neck and 1-5/8" nut width provide comfort for intricate fretboard movements.

At the heart of the Takamine NEX guitar is an impressive electronics system amplifying your sound with intuitive frequency controls. The Takamine TP4T Preamplifier features a gain knob; tuner; active shelving system EQ with bass, middle, and treble frequency slider controls; and a low battery light. The preamp is switched on by plugging a standard 1/4" mono instrument cable into the endpin/strap pin jack. Unplugging the cable switches the preamplifier off. The TP4T Preamplifier is powered by a single 9 volt battery.

The G NEX flame maple's chrome hardware, chrome tuners, and gloss finish add a striking touch to the already beautiful Takamine EG440CS acoustic-electric.

Awesome Guitar. The End

By Brandon

from Denton, TX

This Tak was amazing right out of the box. I ordered the Charcoal color since they didn't carry it in the store. Strange. But this guitar sounds great unplugged or plugged in. Super comfortable neck and fingerboard. Great action and just an unbelievable tone! You definitley get a great deal with this guitar. Also, the Takamine electronics are great. The tuner is a great feature to have on board. I've had this guitar for about a week and I'm super siked about her first gig next month!

Almost Bought It

By HipOldDude

from upstate NY

Wound up spending double. Don't regret it, but this fine specimen warrants another rave review for those searching. This is the best G series Tak I ever played, and I've played most of them. Has the most balanced, sensible sound of all. Beautiful clear highs, with enough low end to make it all fit. Better acoustically than any of those nice hardwood top Ibanez I've played. Maybe not as good as some solid spruce top Fenders, but those can be overdriven. If you strum really hard/loud, this will hold up better. Your lead lines will sparkle, and it strums nice. Neck's a little narrow for most to fingerstyle it. Your experience may vary. Quiet playing is rewarding as well. Some G Taks can be all over the place-undefined, kind of random, some even sound cheap. They all play easy, look great, and feel good. Just never found one that I actually wanted to buy 'til this one. I've owned and played some really nice guitars for benchmarks, including pro level Tak's, and I'm kind of picky. Although the price is always attractive, and they're gorgeous, something in the sound always seems to be missing in the G series to me. Not this one. This baby is bright, it's maple. Not stupid bright, or tinny by any means, just bright, and clear. Think Taylor's maple or sapele body offerings bright, than add a whisker. That's a good thing if you're going to plug in, you can dial in whatever you want (sounded awesome btw) and will record well too. Great note seperation, just the right amount of sustain for the purpose. Not too bassy, never muddy. Projects very well, and gives you a lot of resonance in your hands and against your body. Feels lively and fun. A very comfortable guitar to play, and as Debo says, looks much better than the pics. I bet if they offered one more (neutral) color choice that brought out that nice maple grain, they'd sell a lot more of these. This is not an all-arounder. It fits a niche. I passed for a more versatile axe with a wider fretboard. Looking for a stage/recording guitar on a budget? This beats the competitors and sounds terrific unplugged. True bang for the buck. Definately try this one out.

Awesome Guitar at a Great Price!

By Debo

from Dallas, TX

I purchased this guitar two weeks ago at my local guitar center. I played several other guitars/brands in this price range and didn't even consider Takamine. I was waiting on a sales associated after I had made my selection (almost purchased another brand guitar) and picked this guitar up by chance. I was amazed at the feel and tone of this guitar. I quickly changed my mind an ended up with this beauty (red). The picture does not do this guitar justice. You have to see it person to truly appreciate its beauty and quality. The on-board tuner is a plus. The guitar was great out of the box, but I plan to have a professional setup done. I would definitely recommend this guitar!
