Overview

The Takamine 12-String G Jumbo EG523CDX12 Acoustic-Electric Guitar delivers big, punchy sound. The G Jumbo Takamine is a great guitar for for hard-driving country and bluegrass strumming, while it also fits in perfectly with more intimate fingerstyle picking.

Takamine build the EG523CDX12 with a solid spruce top and a flamed maple body to provide plenty of balanced projection for the full, 12-string sound. The guitar's asymmetrical maple neck, 25-5/16" scale, 1-3/4" nut width, and flat radius keep the EG523CDX12 comfortable for your fret hand. A dovetail neck joint and rosewood bridge and fretboard provide clear and lasting sustain. Gold tuners keep the jumbo guitar in tune from song to song. Other appointments include gold hardware and a gloss finish, adding a shining appearance to this beautifully constructed Takamine guitar.

At the heart of this 12-string Takamine is its cutting edge electronics system. A CP-100 pickup, and a TK40 preamp faithfully amplify the beautiful Takamine tone so you can play anywhere—in intimate settings or at center stage. The Takamine TK40 Preamplifier boasts volume control, bass, middle and treble frequency slider controls, EQ bypass, a Notch Filter, Tuner and a Mid Contour Switch.

The preamp's EQ Bypass push button enables you to engage or defeat the EQ section. The Notch Filter is a specialized EQ, an extremely narrow and deep cut of an audio frequency band. By activating the Mid Contour button, you select a pre-shaped EQ that emphasizes the frequencies normally found to be desirable in an acoustic guitar (400 Hz). The TK40 preamp's tuner is fully chromatic and automatic.

12 String Beauty

By

Comments about Takamine G Jumbo EG523CDX12 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought the 6 string version of this guitar before I bought the 12 string. The 6 string is one of my favorite guitars, if you like a brighter sound. Since I liked the 6 string so much, I decided to buy the 12 string, but wanted the sunburst rather than the natural color since my 6 string is natural color. The guitar is visually striking with its beautiful sunburst, trim, gold hardware and pearl tuners. It also plays great. I love doing bass runs on it because they really ring out. I have average to small hands and I notice that my wrist will sometimes get tired because of the wider neck, but that is to be expected with a 12 string. Whenever I bring the guitar to my class, everyone wants to play it. I am also very happy with the sound of the guitar. I cannot compare it to any other 12 string guitars, though I was looking at a Guild 12 string before I bought this one. Try out this guitar. I think you will be happy. I am!

New kid on the block

Comments about Takamine G Jumbo EG523CDX12 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

In the market for a new acoustic, I was drawn to his unique look of the guitar. To me, every guitar that I play (as long as they are correctly setup) sound the same. It just comes down to the look. I think it looks better than a Gibson and it's a 12 stringer. It is very pricey though...That's why we have credit cards. Go try it!

Comments about Takamine G Jumbo EG523CDX12 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This is a great guitar for a great price. This guitar puts out a great tone and lasts forever. I purchased mine about six years ago and I won't even think about buying a new one I love it that much.

Comments about Takamine G Jumbo EG523CDX12 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Great guitar to get into 12 strings with. Feels a little cheap while playing it though. But, like they say, no 2 guitars are the same, could have just played a bad one. I give it credit for the sound and playability though.

More than I expected

Comments about Takamine G Jumbo EG523CDX12 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have been playing six string acoustic guitars for about 20 years now, and this is the first 12 string that I have owned. After playing this guitar every day for a couple of weeks, I highly recommend it to anyone interested in a 12 string. The sound of this guitar is so incredibly lush and full. I haven't experienced any fret buzzing at all, anywhere on the neck. The cutaway allows for easy access to the upper frets. Very comfortable guitar. I have larger than average hands, and I'm able to finger pick this guitar with ease. The built in tuner is a very convenient feature too, although in my experience, this guitar stays in tune extremely well. The guitar is sold, well made, and beautiful. It's a Takamine - what else can I say?
