The Takamine EG523SC Acoustic-Electric Guitar has outstanding sound by itself or plugged in. The jumbo body style provides cool profile and comfortable playing with a huge solid spruce soundboard for big volume and titanic tone. Glowing, gorgeous flamed maple back and sides plus an abalone rosette make it flash in the stage lights. Active electronics with onboard EQ translate all that tone into the electrical world with total fidelity.

This is a very good looking guitar and very good lines. I purchased this used from guitar center and it has only angel hair scratches on the pick guard, which is normal. They buffed out with a little polish. The tones are deep and rich from the spuce/maple body and the action on the board is fast. Especially after a good set-up. This has more of a electric guitar slim feeling of a neck but thats what I prefer. Very, very good deal of a guitar for the money. Highly recommend !!
I bought this guitar approx 3 years ago when I was looking for something different than my dreadnought. I own the natural color. Its looks really stand out with the inlay on the fretboard and the shape of the pickguard. The color of the wood is also impressive. As with most guitars made of maple, this guitar has a brighter sound which some may consider to be tinny. It doesn't have the deeper tone that normally comes with other guitar shapes such as a dreadnought. However, I am a strummer who also sings and I just like the sound of this guitar for live performance more than any of the other guitars that I own. I liked it so much that I also bought the 12 string version of the same guitar in the burst color rather than the natural. On board tuner and electronics are good too. If you are looking for an instrument to compliment your standard dreadnought, you can't go wrong here. The price is right also.
I consider myself a beginner (used to play but haven't touched a guitar in over 30 years). I decided to take it up again and went out to buy a guitar. Well, the first one (a Fender) just wasn't right for me. The action was high and neck too big. I have smaller hands and a touch of arthritis. Well, I traded the Fender in on a Yamaha. The action and neck were much better but the sound quality was just not there. Being that I was under the 30 day return policy, I took the Yamaha back and bought the Takamine EG523SC Acoustic-Electric Guitar. I have to tell you the quality workmanship, ease of playing, the sound and the beauty are exceptional. Not to mention, the patience and helpfulness of Randy, the Manager of the Coconut Creek, Florida Guitar Center is what customer service should always be. I highly recommend this Tak and esepcially recommend Randy and Guitar Center. You will not be dissapointed!
I bought this guitar a year and a half ago, and am still in love with it! I had to mess around with which strings sound best on it, but decided the D'addarios that came on it were the best. Very well made guitar. Needed to raise the bridge a little, but once that was done, it simply sang. Amazing guitar for the price!
I spent almost 4 hours in the store the day I got this guitar. I play over and over between this and many Taylor, Gibson and other high ends. I was also playing a takamine tan16. Which also was very nice with its tube preamp inside. But after hours of going back and forth I kept deciding on this one...the action was stellar. No fret but. I was really stemming and picking in it hard finger and pick. And it sounded much better than any of the $2000+ Gibson or Martins and Taylor's...kinda sad really...its made in Korea and the craftmanship is superior to any of the American guitars. And sound was superiors also...couldn't be happier with this guitar...its my new favorite over all my other guitars.
I bought this, used from GC, for my work leading music in church on Sunday mornings. It's my "workhorse." Besides being visually beautiful, the jumbo size adds resonance, volume and depth to the tone. The electronics and cutaway are features I now consider standard for acoustic guitars. Unlike some other acoustic-electric guitars, I never get feedback. Takamine makes great instruments!
I've had this guitar for about 6 months now. Best acoustic investment I've made to date! I got it on a great deal without having played it first, so I was a little scared, but this guitar BLEW ME AWAY! this guitar sounds and plays like someone took a Taylor and a Gibson and smashed them together into one guitar! It has the greatness of both! I loved the D'Adarrios that came w/ it, but switched to elixirs, and it became my favorite acoustic I've ever played! I'm not saying don't go buy your dream Taylor, Martin or Gibson, but certainly check this one out first. It might save u a couple hundred(or thousand) bucks!
i am trying to get back into guitar playing after an extended absence. i was going to spend big $$ on a taylor or martin, but decided to ease back into it instead i purchase this takmine jumbo. the sound is pretty good for an inexpensive guitar. i was concerned with the high action compared with taylor, however i got use to it. if i can improve and stay with it i will probably spend the big $$ for a taylor or martin. for the price, i think this is an excellent choice.
My father bought me this guitar for christmas.. We went to the store and i played it. I couldn't get out of that store without that guitar... When we finished, my father told me he wouldnt buy because its expensive... But he would buy it in jaunuary... Then, i went upstairs in the store to play a gibson sj-200. While that, my father bought the guitar, and with the help of the security guard of the store, he could hide the guitar in the car.. When we arrived home, i was sad and angry with him.. Then he gave me the guitar at night.. It was the best surprise ever!!! I can't describe the awesomeness of this guitar.... I love this guitar and its funny story!!
Although i bought this at another place, i played a $5000 Gibson that was absolutely amazing, so right off the bat i was easily pointing out flaws in other guitars until i picked up this one. This guitar instantly felt right to me. The thinner neck was great for comfort and playability and the sound wasn't even a notch below the Gibson i played. best guitar for the price! Stunning.
