This cutaway model puts a twist on the usual dreadnought sound with a beautiful solid cedar top, precision-scalloped bracing, and a solid rosewood back for a distinct tonal difference. The rosewood fingerboard is inlay-free for a very clean look. The simple appearance is tastefully enhanced by a skillfully inlaid abalone rosette and gold tuners with amber pearl buttons. The Cool Tube Preamp (CTP-1) utilizes a 12AU7 tube for a touch of tube sparkle and magic. The Cool Tube runs at very low voltages; therefore the tube does not produce high levels of heat (2-3° above ambient).

Love This Guitar!

I am a beginner. I did not want to buy a low priced guitar and I did not want to invest in a top end expensive guitar, as I was not sure that I would take to playing. What I did want was a quality instrument, reasonably priced that would inspire me to play and to learn. I have found it with this beauty! In addition, the on-board tuner is really handy and great for me being new to the sounds. I love the electric option with the on-board Cool Tube Preamp. The electronics motivate me even more to get to the point that I can really enjoy those options. I am leaning quickly. I attribute much of my progress to the enjoyment I get from playing this guitar and really looking forward to my time spent practicing. I am not qualified to compare this guitar with others, however, I know what I know, and I know this guitar is a winner and that I am very pleased with it. In addition to all the guitar offers, it also comes with a great hard shell case that is well built to protect the guitar. I recommend trying this guitar. I think you will be very happy with it.

A not so gentle crystal sound

Takamine has already sounded to me like traditional sound, good quality, but really standardized product ... until I own one ! The guitar is shipped in a robust hardcase, well designed to protect it. When playing unplug, the instrument work as design and give what you can expect from a such high quality guitar. No more, no less.. but this is already OK. This is when you plug in the beauty that you'll se the beast !! After some tuning, I can easily get rid of the hiss effect I heard and can start playing with all the buttons and parameters available. The multi band EQ offer allow to shear the sound to get a large panel of sound. But the most interestant parameter is the cool tube level which enhance everything by giving a warm texture to the sound. So, after a few weeks of tests, I feel really happy with that instrument and I give an overall rate of 4.5
