Great guitar, great price

This is an excellent guitar for the price. The tone is amazing with minimal fretbuzz. Great lows, mids and highs. It will outplay some higher priced guitars from Taylor and Martin. For a first guitar or even for experienced players you can't go wrong with the GS430S!

Lovely Guitar w/Slight Nuances

I have owned this guitar for 6 months. I have strung it with both Elixirs and Martins and either way, the sound is very rich. The tones are almost piano-like. It is very easy to string because of the bridge design, it also tunes easily and stays in tune. Now...the nuances: For me, I found the string tension a little tight even with light 11s. And the neck is slightly narrower and thinner than what you'd find on similar martin/taylors making it more suitable for smaller hands, bar chords, and classical playing style. Big hands with wrap around playing style...forget it! If you fall somewhere in between, I think it's worth the slight extra effort because of the sound quality and the price.

Takimien GS430

The Takamine GS430 is deifnately a great deal for a guitar. It has a solid cedar top, whick produces a very rich, full sound. The action came extremelly low from the factory, so no set up was required. My only complaint is that the lack of a pickgaurd and the unpainted solid cedar top makes this guitar very prone to scratches. Other than that, you can't go wrong with this guitar.
