The G406S New Yorker Acoustic Guitar offers the smallest body profile Takamine makes. The New Yorker has a traditional old-time guitar shape that produces an immediate, clear, full-bodied tone evoking old 78-rpm records of the '40s.
The Takamine New Yorker guitar's strumming voice is sharp and airy. When played finger-style it sings with sweetness and character that make you want to dig a little deeper into the roots of American music.
The Takamine G406S combines the craftsmanship and materials that have made traditionally styled guitars so desirable: a solid spruce top and a gorgeous 3-piece rosewood and quilted maple back, mahogany neck, and rosewood fretboard. New Yorker guitar appointments include wood body binding and heelcap, an abalone rosette, and gold tuning keys.

Pros: Slender, fast-playing full-scale neck with nice fretwork, excellent finish, comfortable small body, bright-but-full tone. Not a dreadnought or even grand auditorium sound - it's a parlor guitar. Nonetheless excellent for songwriting sessions and recording. I am totally satisfied with this guitar and value the comfort of the neck greatly, being more of an electric player than a purist acoustic player. Great bang-for-buck. Crisp flattop tone is very satisfying for strumming, single-note playing, and finger-picking. If you enjoy small guitars, this one is an excellent choice. Great build quality at this price in the instrument I received.
Cons: None, really - perhaps too much "bling" factor for some - the abalone and wood inlaying is incredible for something in this price range. It's flashy but beautiful. Not a problem when you're playing it!
a great guitar, almost classical size. it's beautifully made and well appointed. bought about a year ago and only gets better.a guitar well suited for a studio and easy to write new songs with. check this new yorker out, you'll want one. dennis
One of my young students recently asked my opinion on buying this guitar. Besides being beautiful with all the abalone inlays and quilted maple insert on the back, it sounds great, is accurately fretted, and is set-up well right out of the box. You can't go wrong with a rosewood body and spruce top. I bought one for myself!
