  • Great Studio and Performance Guitar

As reviewed by Chris Hall on 3/1/2010

I took this guitar off the wall at GC and didn't put it down for 2 hours. For the price this guitar really delivers: looks, playability and great electric sound. I was going in for the Martin or Taylor, but this guitar caught my eye and I never looked back. Sounds as well or better than higher priced models, nice bass tone and sweet stylings. It will work great for the home studio as well as stage performance. Try it before you look any further, you won't be disappointed.

  • awesome guitar

As reviewed by Kyle on 12/2/2009

when i bought this guitar i was looking at a bunch of different brands and when i saw this one i just fell in love. sounds great with a set of elixr strings. the only down side is for some reason my guitar has a defect in the neck on the 13th fret. its almost like the wood has a bubble in it causing a frett buzz. im either gonna get it fixed or have this replaced with the same guitar. overall awesome!!

  • Absolutely Incredible!!

As reviewed by TJ on 12/26/2010

I went to GC looking to replace my old starter guitar. I had no preference on any brand and played them all. I must have played 25 different guitars before the employee pulled this one from the back. Played it for 45 minutes and knew I had to have it. Features: The Takamine Preamp is excellent and it's not complicated to use. The built-in tuner is chromatic, so if you haven't developed an ear yet you can tune any string to any pitch (very helpful if you're trying to tune into "open" tunings). The tuners are of very high quality, and the black satin peg covers feel great. The tuners are nice and tight feeling, so it ads confidence that the guitar will stay in tune. It already has great action, and a strap button drilled into the heel of the neck. Quality&Reliability: I feel extremely confident holding this guitar, the three piece back and rosewood sides feel sturdy. Strong wood could be used for some percussion, I feel confident that it would hold up. I tend to play across a large dynamic range and knowing that I can "hammer" down on this guitar and get it loud is a big plus. Look&Feel: The finish on this guitar is flawless. Nice Abalone inlays and rosette. The back is a three piece RW-Maple-RW back that is absolutely stunning, that alone almost sold me on the guitar. The gold hardware is gorgeous, and like I said earlier the action is nice and tight. It has a nice glossy finish that makes the wood really "pop". The color is lighter than in the picture but will age beautifully I'm sure. Overall this guitar is legit. I didn't play any high end guitars, but for what I paid I feel like I got an excellent guitar, I told the employee I was looking for anything between 400 and 600 bucks. This guitar has a nice deep bass response and plenty of highs to mix in. Well worth my money.
