      Takamine G NEX Flame Maple EG440CS Acoustic-Electric Guitar (105632160)
Availability:

Flamed maple top, back, and sides give this strong NEX guitar a stunning appearance.

The Takamine G NEX EG440CS Acoustic-Electric Guitar has a flamed maple top and a pleasing, rounded profile that's narrow at the waist, yet broad behind the bridge. The Takamine signature NEX guitar design creates a soundboard that offers a balanced frequency response with deep bass, clear treble, and a sweet, round midrange that projects quite well.

The body carries the depth of a dreadnought to ensure a great level of volume. The guitar's cutaway provides plenty of range and comfort when accessing the upper-register frets. The flamed maple top, back, and sides offer full tone, clear projection, and a gorgeous look. The dovetail neck joint, rosewood bridge and fretboard, and mahogany neck offer plenty of sustain. An asymmetrical neck and 1-5/8" nut width provide comfort for intricate fretboard movements.

At the heart of the Takamine NEX guitar is an impressive electronics system amplifying your sound with intuitive frequency controls. The Takamine TP4T Preamplifier features a gain knob; tuner; active shelving system EQ with bass, middle, and treble frequency slider controls; and a low battery light. The preamp is switched on by plugging a standard 1/4" mono instrument cable into the endpin/strap pin jack. Unplugging the cable switches the preamplifier off. The TP4T Preamplifier is powered by a single 9 volt battery.

The G NEX flame maple's chrome hardware, chrome tuners, and gloss finish add a striking touch to the already beautiful Takamine EG440CS acoustic-electric.

  • Awesome Guitar at a Great Price!

As reviewed by Debo on 3/31/2010

I purchased this guitar two weeks ago at my local guitar center. I played several other guitars/brands in this price range and didn't even consider Takamine. I was waiting on a sales associated after I had made my selection (almost purchased another brand guitar) and picked this guitar up by chance. I was amazed at the feel and tone of this guitar. I quickly changed my mind an ended up with this beauty (red). The picture does not do this guitar justice. You have to see it person to truly appreciate its beauty and quality. The on-board tuner is a plus. The guitar was great out of the box, but I plan to have a professional setup done. I would definitely recommend this guitar!

  • Great guitar!

As reviewed by Isabel on 1/4/2011

I got this guitar for Christmas and so far I am very happy with it. I love the charcoal color, sometimes it looks almost purple! Of course just because I like the color a lot, that doesn't mean that's the only good thing about this guitar! I love the bright clean sound, and the feel of it. It sounds better than the red one I tried out two days ago, and the feel is amazing, as is the cutaway. It is very easy to get to the top frets. Now this guitar is also an electric, so let me talk about that... The controls are very easy, and the tuner is an extra plus. Even though I don't need a tuner to tune my guitars, it's nice to have one. It's an extra precaution, but it also lets me get my guitar almost perfectly tuned. When playing through an amp, it doesn't sound as clean and bright as playing acoustic, but it still sounds pretty damn good!!!! And as I said, it is very simple to control. There are the equalizers, and the gain. The gain is actually the volume. One thing about this guitar though, it doesn't come with a hard case, or even a gig bag. When you buy this guitar, be ready to also buy a case. I opted for the $40 roadrunner acoustic case. There is also a $50 one with extra pockets and better straps, but I would suggest getting the Takamine hard case. Overall, I would suggest this guitar to beginners and experienced players. Being an experienced player I can honestly say that. As maybe your first acoustic guitar or even you very first guitar. It is fantastic!!!!!!!! P.S. Just as en extra note, there is no twelfth fret marker on the players view, there is on the actual fretboard though. That means you don't see two dots, but your audience does.

  • Awesome Guitar. The End

As reviewed by Brandon on 2/19/2011

This Tak was amazing right out of the box. I ordered the Charcoal color since they didn't carry it in the store. Strange. But this guitar sounds great unplugged or plugged in. Super comfortable neck and fingerboard. Great action and just an unbelievable tone! You definitley get a great deal with this guitar. Also, the Takamine electronics are great. The tuner is a great feature to have on board. I've had this guitar for about a week and I'm super siked about her first gig next month!
