      Takamine G Jumbo EG523SC Acoustic-Electric Guitar (583235)
Availability:

Big, meaty chords, plenty of volume, and outstanding balance, in a stunning spalted maple appearance.

The Takamine G Jumbo EG523SC Acoustic-Electric Guitar is endowed with great internal air volume to deliver sound that matches its name. The top profile curves hint at the pleasing tonality delivered by the jumbo guitar design. The Takamine EG523SC jumbo's tonal spectrum is enhanced by its dynamic range. From aggressive chord comping to gentle finger passages, the G jumbo responds well to the subtle, and not so subtle demands that might be made of it. The guitar's spalted maple top back and sides offer balanced tone full projection and a killer appearance. The dovetail neck joint, and rosewood bridge and fretboard offer plenty of sustain. An asymmetrical neck and 1-5/8" nut width provide comfort for intricate fretboard movements. At the heart of the Takamine G Jumbo is an impressive electronics system for amplifying your sound with intuitive frequency controls. The CP-100 pickup is an innovative pickup arrangement with a U-shaped aluminum rail securing the pickup and saddle for a snug fit and balanced response from the guitar—not just pressure on the strings. The Takamine TK40 preamplifier is equipped with volume control, bass, middle and treble frequency slider controls, EQ bypass, a notch filter, tuner and a mid contour switch. The G Jumbo's chrome hardware, chrome tuners, and natural gloss finish add a striking touch to the already beautiful Takamine EG523SC guitar.

  • Low action Great Sound

As reviewed by Jennifer Joy on 6/6/2010

It took me some time to find this guitar. I am used to playing a small Gianini classic guitar and always hated how electric accoustic guitars hurt your fingers and made that buzz sound. I am a performer and I needed a guitar with versatility, great sound plugged in or out, and that had low action. This is that guitar. I bought the 12 string version of this guitar and haven't put it down since. It has a nice wide neck and low action so my fingers aren't hurting. The sound is fantastic, round and whole, and sounds great unplugged and plugged in. I love my Takamine. I cannot review the electronics as I am not really sure how to use them. However the tuner is handy. The finish on this guitar is beautiful and the marble inlays on the neck really enhance this beauty. This was a great buy!

  • Great guitar at a great price

As reviewed by Kris on 6/7/2010

Before you plug it in this guitar is stunning not just in looks but it sounds great. For the price this value cannot be beat. It sounds better than guitars that are twice the price.

  • Great guitar

As reviewed by Rex Ward on 12/6/2011

I bought this used from GC and have enjoyed it from the outset. After I had had it for a while, the bridge started pulling away from the sound board and the sound board cracked from the bridge to the bottom and I had to have it repaired. These issues were probably caused more by the arid climate here in the West than by anything else, which is why I still gave the guitar five stars. I now humidify all of my acoustics. I still have it and enjoy its wonderful sound.
