      Takamine G Jumbo EG523CDX Acoustic-Electric Guitar (106502156)
Availability:

When size matters, go for a jumbo.

Built on a jumbo design, the Takamine EG523CDX acoustic-electric guitar from the G series possesses the greatest internal air volume and delivers a sound that matches its name. The curvature of the top profile hints at the resulting tonality of this body design. The Takamine jumbo guitar's tonal spectrum is enhanced by its dynamic range. From aggressive chord comping to gentle finger passages, the jumbo responds well to the subtle, and not so subtle demands that might be made of it. The Takamine guitar's solid spruce top offers balanced tone, while the flamed maple body brings out full projection. The dovetail neck joint, rosewood bridge and fretboard, and maple neck offer plenty of sustain, and the asymmetrical neck and 1-5/8" nut width provide comfort for intricate fretboard movements.

At the heart of this Takamine guitar is an impressive electronics system, letting you amplify your sound with intuitive frequency controls. The CP-100 pickup is an innovative pickup arrangement instead of the conventional under the saddle piezo design. The Takamine guitar uses a U-shaped aluminum rail, securing the pickup and saddle for a snug fit and balanced response from the instrument, not just pressure on the strings. The Takamine TK40 preamplifier features volume control, bass, middle and treble frequency slider controls, EQ bypass, a notch filter, tuner and a mid contour switch.

The G jumbo's gold hardware, gold and amber pearl tuners, and gloss finish adds a striking touch to this already beautiful instrument.

  • wow

As reviewed by Ron Eimiller on 12/17/2010

I titled this wow, because that is all I can say after playing this guitar. I had been shopping for a guitar that would be in a class all of its own, and boy did I get that. I had been looking hard at the Taylor's and Martins , but both were missing that long high tone, they seem to give up on it too soon. This guitar loves to hold that tone , for a very long time, almost a full 30 secs after your done with the last note, now how is that for longevity. I did do one thing, I took off the strings it came with, they were coated, and coated stings are not what this guitar needs, it needs, martin 4100's , they sound so good on it , you will not want to put it down. If you are looking for that special tone out of a guitar, you need not look any further, this guitar has it all, the split saddle is a wonderful feature, takes the tension and really puts it to good use. The 1-5/8 neck is perfect for smaller hands, there just is not other guitar like this one. Playing this guitar is like floating over clouds, your hands just seem to float over the strings. I really want to point one thing out, about this guitar it plays "SO EASY" anyone would love it. I love this guitar and its style. The sunburst is so cool and bright at the same time. Everyone who has seen this guitar, does the ohhh and ahhhs .

  • Real good buy...

As reviewed by G.K. on 3/28/2011

I bought this as an upgrade to the two Takimine 523sc's i had in less than a month. Both returned due to electronic issues. I recieved this guitar in high hopes and was ledt down hard. The guitar was poorly packaged, the neck had a severe backbow, and after proper adjustment the action was a mile off the neck. After 5 short min of playing the "Honeyburst EG523CDX" i promptly repackaged it and sent it back. The only reason i didnt rate this guitar a complete zero was to the fact that its a pretty guitar. As far as sound quality and playability, its a flat ZERO. Low end junk at a higher price point. Just speaking the truth.I bought a Breedlove Atlas D25/SR for a hubndred dollars more and never looked back. I will never buy a Junkamine again.

  • Incredible.

As reviewed by Matt on 2/7/2011

I do not own this but, my friend recently bought one and I play it whenever I get the chance! The sound is so amazing and full, you'll play your first chord and look down wondering how it just came out of this guitar! However, the thing I find the most appealing about it is its action. It is by a longshot the easiest guitar to play that I have ever come across! It feels like you are playing an electric, you hardly have to put much pressure at all. If that doesn't convince you....scroll back up really quick and look at it again....i'll wait.......Yeah I know!! It looks freaking awesome!
