      Takamine G Dreadnought EG530SC Solid Top Acoustic-Electric Guitar (101751766)
Availability:

The fullness of a quality dreadnought for a great price.

Built on the popular dreadnought design, the Takamine EG530SC acoustic-electric guitar from the G series is a louder, more powerful-sounding instrument. The dreadnought has been the most popular and widely recognized acoustic guitar since its creation in the 1920s. Its broad top and deep body create a large resonant chamber that emphasizes bass response and provides a great deal of volume. This design excels in ensemble playing and is heavily favored by flat pick players. The solid spruce top offers balanced tone, while the sapele back and sides bring out plenty of projection. The dovetail neck joint, rosewood bridge and fretboard, and mahogany neck offer plenty of sustain, and the asymmetrical neck and 1-5/8" nut width provide comfort for intricate fretboard movements.

At the heart of this Takamine guitar is an impressive electronics system, letting you amplify your sound with intuitive frequency controls. The CP-100 pickup is an innovative pickup design over the conventional under the saddle piezo design. It uses a U-shaped aluminum rail, securing the pickup and saddle for a snug fit and balanced response from the instrument, not just pressure on the strings. The Takamine TK40 preamplifier features volume control, bass, middle and treble frequency slider controls, EQ bypass, a notch filter, tuner and a mid contour switch.

The Takamine EG530SC guitar's chrome hardware, chrome tuners, and gloss finish adds a striking touch to this already beautiful instrument.

  • Great Guitar

As reviewed by Takamine Fan on 6/6/2010

I've had this guitar for years now and it still plays great. The wood looks great and the neck feels great. The electronic system produces a great tone when plugged in. I've used it for recording and performing and it always delivers a great tone. Great guitar for value.

  • I Love My G Series Tak!

As reviewed by Thomas on 6/6/2010

I have owned my Takamine for almost 2 years and Love it! A friend has one, and also Loves it! This is my first acoustic with the built in preamp, the 3 band EQ, and on board tuner are great. The notch filter is useful to reduce feedback in some live situations, but I have not had any feedback troubles so far. The finish and fretboard are very nice. The action was perfect for me, right out of the box. The solid spruce top sings out loud and true. A friend described it as almost sounding like a 12 string! Another friend purchased a more expensive brand and paid 4 times as much. He has very pretty inlays etc, but the sound difference is hardly noticeable, and not worth the extra price!

  • Love my Tak!

As reviewed by Tak-man on 6/25/2011

I've owned the Takamine EG530SC for about 4 years now and absolutely love it. As an acoustic, it has held its own against Taylors, Martins and even a classic Gibson. I've used it for live performances and open mic sessions and always get compliments on the sound and looks of the instrument. For amplification, I play it through a Mackie SRM150 three channel personal monitor. Our gigs are all small venue affairs and we don't need a huge PA system. I add a touch of reverb from my old BOSS processer and use the on board EQ (set for mids) and I'm able to produce the most realistic acoustic sound I've ever heard from a plugged in A/E guitar. The only way I've gotten a better sound was by using a mic. My recorded tones are not quite as good as a mic'd guitar, but since my recordings are for practice purposes, the tone doesn't really matter. It still sounds great and for all but the most discerning artists, is fine for direct in recording. If you're in the market for a sub $1000 A/E guitar, take a good look at this Takamine. It's well worth the money.
