  • Best 12-String for the Price

As reviewed by Mark Adams on 6/21/2011

I have played for over 30 years and have gigged many times. The pros I've played with call me a "semi-pro" b/c I don't do it for the money. I don't play much 12-string, but I like the 12-string sound for certain songs. I had a Yamaha 12 but didn't like it b/c the neck was too wide (I have relatively small hands). I played Guild 12's and Martin 12's. Loved them, but they were pricey. This 12-string is perfect for the price. I was thinking about a Martin 12-string that had been marked down because of a flaw in the top (which had been nicely repaired). The Martin sounded awesome, but this guitar (though not a solid top) also sounds great -- and the killer point is that this guitar has some really good built-in electronics, including a very good tuner. I would have had to put another couple hundred into the Martin to plug it in, whereas this guitar is gig-ready and sounds basically just as good. It had great (low) action right out of the crate! It was obviously set up by someone who knows what a player wants. It came with a truss-rod allen wrench, but I didn't need it. This is a keeper for the price. I only wish they would have put another strap button at the base of the neck. I don't like having to tie a shoelace above the nut. I installed my own strap button at the base of the neck, so now it's not a problem. Great guitar for the price!

  • great value for $$$

As reviewed by bigchoice on 5/3/2011

I just purchased this guitar the other day and have to say..WOW. I played a few 12 strings in this price range (ibanez, dean, ovation, etc) before buying and all i can say is this beauty pumps out some serious sound. I played it for a few minutes and knew right away this was the one. I'm mostly a hobbyist but know a great sounding guitar when i hear one. I have two ibanez acoustics already and wanted to try a different brand. The Takamine name speaks for itself. They've been around a longtime and all they produce is acoustic guitars. You would think they know a thing or two about it. I am not disappointed at all with this purchase and don't think you will be either. The bottom line is if for your locked into this price range, you cannot go wrong with this guitar.

  • Nice Guitar at a Nice Price

As reviewed by Bob Martin on 4/15/2010

I was in the market for a 12 string and saw this beauty on guitarcenter.com. I already own a Takamine 6 string acoustic/electric that I like so I figured I'd take a chance and order it without ever even playing it. To my surprise it arrived in just 2 days, took it out of the box a did some tuning using the convenient built in tuner. It actually plays and sounds amazing and is very beautiful. For the price it's a great deal and the quality and workmanship is excellent, I definitely recommend this product to anyone looking to buy a 12 string.
