  • I love it.

As reviewed by TakGirl on 1/3/2007

This is my second Takamine Guitar. I also own a six string EF325SRC that I played onstage for 10 years. I love both of my guitars, but it is truly a joy to play this twelve string. I can sit in a room full of musicians that are amplified and play it acoustically and still be heard, but when I plug it into my Trace Acoustic Amp..... that's heaven. I hang out with a lot of acomplished guitar players, and all of them have said the same thing after playing it... "sweet". The action is low, the tone is wonderful... it's just a top quality instrument all around. I recently used it in the studio, and the engineer is after me for full custody... I'm leaning towards supervised visitation. ;-)

  • a beautiful guitar

As reviewed by Dave Seyfert on 3/29/2010

I've been playing guitar for over 40 years - my main instrument is a 1968 Guild D-40 I bought new, although I use a Takamine G332 when playing for an audience so I can plug in. I play mostly folk, gospel, bluegrass and western styles, mostly for church related functions. I have always wanted a 12 string and have tried many. I finally bought this and couldn't be happier - it has a deep, rich tone; ample volume; comfortable action (bar chords are very manageable); and the spruce soundboard and flamed maple sides and back are gorgeous. I play mostly fingerpicking sytle and it reacts nicely to hammer ons/offs. And it is a bargain for the price - compares well to much higher priced guitars I tried. Once I pick it up, I can't put it down!

  • Great Stage Guitar

As reviewed by Gregg Case on 10/4/2009

I own a Tak FD series which I've played on stage for years and a Taylor 614 CE. Both are great guitars but when I went for the twelve string, the Tak sounded better acoustically and amplified. The SG523SC-12 actually played just as well as the Taylor after I adjusted the neck and you can't beat the price for what you get!
