  I have small hands and this guitar is great. I love the mellow warm sound to the guitar. Not to mention, the looks of the guitar. Its beautiful. This guitar is well priced for what you get especially compared to higher names. If you are on a budget like i was but want the biggest bang for your buck, this is it!

• VERY PLEASED WITH MY TAKAMINE EF740SGN ACOUSTIC-ELECTRIC

  I am a beginner adult guitar player. I've owned 2 guitars prior to purchasing the Takamine EF740SGN. Rather than regurgitate this guitar's first class specifications which are clearly stated for all to see in numerous other places including the Takamine website, I will focus my review on what matters most to me. Here are my very favorable impressions of this instrument's sound and play-ability and overall aesthetic appeal: After a fire in my home destroyed the guitar I had been using for lessons, I went shopping for a replacement. While at the store, I listened to a young kid (perhaps 12-14 yrs. old & a much better player than me), test-playing several guitars. He played this model Takamine and several other decent quality, brand name instruments - all in the same general price range +/- $400. After hearing this kid expertly pick and strum most of the similar in-stock guitars for several minutes each, I was in awe at just how much richer, brighter and bolder this Takamine sounded in comparison to ANY OTHER guitar this kid played - regardless of price. After a while I asked him, of all the guitars he had played that afternoon, which was his favorite? Without ANY hesitation, he instantly pointed to the Takamine EF740SGN. Again, I'm a novice, and the price (although very reasonable compared to many I had heard played that afternoon) exceeded the "lesson guitar" budget I had set for myself by ~ 100%. However, after the side by side demonstration I had just witnessed, I knew I wouldn't be satisfied with ANY OTHER guitar but that Takamine. So I purchased it - along with the recommended Takamine guitar case - by far the most beautiful & sturdy case I've EVER seen. It's perhaps a bit big & bulky & heavy, but it's absolutely perfect for maximum protection of my investment within it's well padded interior. After spending a few minutes alone with my new treasure, I quickly overcame any buyer's remorse at the price I had paid as I found myself TRULY WANTING to pick up this beauty and play it. Or at least attempt to play it, since even with my rusty beginner's hacking this guitar made my practice of scales, etc., sound absolutely rich and bright. It is light-years beyond any other guitar I have owned. I simply couldn't wait to get a hold of it and practice longer and with more focus and desire to learn. My desire to learn to play this instrument has not subsided one iota in the almost two years I have owned it. But perhaps the most satisfying aspect of owning this guitar is the "Guitar Envy" comments I have heard from all of my friends - particularly those who are experienced players. Everyone who has seen it (including those who DON'T play) think it is an absolutely BEAUTIFUL instrument with it's unique wood finish. But of the players, each one - whether playing it unplugged or amp'ed - has independently called it one of the best guitars they have ever played; and they often have a hard time putting it down. Even my guitar instructor - a 25 year player / 15-year professional teacher who teaches several other stringed instruments and piano has called my Takemine "the finest INSTRUMENT I have ever played - regardless of the type, brand or price". Bottom Line: I absolutely LOVE this instrument. My playing has improved many fold since purchasing it. My friends all consider it AWESOME in both looks and sound. Even my most experienced and accomplished (professional musician, band member) buddies are very impressed with the sound and play-ability of my Takemine EF740 SGN - unplugged or amp'ed. I would recommend this instrument to anyone.
