Anyone researching this product on the web quickly discoverers how happy people are with it, so I'll focus on something a little different.

My group has a professional sound man, and our fans enjoy my voice as-is, so I didn't really need the pedal when I bought it. A couple weeks later we played a light acoustic gig without the big board and this unit provided all the sound shaping needed to make my vocal sound good plugged straight into a powered speaker. For good measure, I added a touch of pitch correction and the result sounded natural and, well, better! After that, we started rehearsing with the same setup and things are much simpler, convenient and the sound coming out of that single speaker is awesome!

Lately, I've been practicing at home with this pedal plugged into my DAW while wearing headphones. When practicing like that, I like to crank the pitch correction a little past 12 o'clock to hear it kick in and show when pitch could be better. I'm really liking this as a teaching tool, and I've raised the bar enough in live shows that my band-mates tell me I've improved lately. :-)

So my experience might be a little different, but I'm sharing to add a few positive things about this sweet tool that others haven't said yet.

Buy this pedal

By curt beasley

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceTone Mic Mechanic Reverb, Delay, & Pitch Correction Pedal:

I wanted a pitch correction pedal that was transparent. This is it. I wanted something without a million parameters and little bells and whistles. Just give me pitch correction. This pedal does is. As an added bonus, you get the eq and conpression which makes the quality of your voice better. Basically, this pedal makes a mediocre hillbilly singer like me sound like a really good singer. Takes 5 minutes to set up. Buy the thing.

Just what I needed

By Thomas Hankins

from Merrimac, MA

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceTone Mic Mechanic Reverb, Delay, & Pitch Correction Pedal:

As a lead vocalist in two rock bands that do not have a sound engineer the TC Helicon Mic MEchanic is just what is needed. The Situation: Both bands have PA systems, one basic, one elaborate, but neither has a dedicated sound technician. As a past audio and lighting technician myself, I usually end up doing an initial setup, minor tweak during a sound check and all but leaving the system alone thereafter, aside from overall volume adjustment. Both systems have effects, without the easy means to bypass during speaking. Generally speaking, to get a decent vocal for live gigs you need some compression, gating, equalization, reverb and delay. What you get in the Mic Mechanic: The unit essentially gives you the essentials any sound technician would use. The "Tone" button engages a present of compression, gating and equalization that enhances the signal for more clarity and consistency. It is a singular collection of signal modifications that is not adjustable, simply on or off. If the sound of the Pa is good, then feel free to forego the "Tone" feature. As for the other effects, the next most useful is a bank of reverb and delay presets, with adjustable delay feedback (a combination of tone buttton and effect level knob), delay tempo (footswitch tap rempo) and combined overall effect level, "dry to wet" knob. These are useful and user friendly, requiring minimal experience of learning to operate. The final effect is pitch correction. This utilizes a chromatic, not adjustable for key, circuit that modifies your actual pitch to the nearest half step in pitch. The amount of modified pitch is "blended into the original signal via the correction knob. Set at half way the effrect can be discernable, but not overwhelming. More of the effected signal can impart a mild robotic effect (hard-tune). As an experienced vocalist that has few pitch issues, I eventually decided to shut it off. So decide for yourself on that feature. What you do not get: I also looked at offerings from Digitech, Boss (Roland) and of course TC for floor operated pedals/systems. Most of the other systems were more elaborate in features, effects types and adjustability, but not necessarily "better" in useability, durability or value. For many systems, I found myself favoring a limited set of effects and using maybe a handful of presets, factory or personally made. Final comments: Overall the unit is well made, very quiet, user friendly and all too easy to operate for live gigs. The effect quality is very good and useable. In essence it does what it claims and does so quite well. Not a single negative complaing was received by band mates or the audience. For that it deserves all five stars. That aside, the only additional feature I wish the Mic Mechanic had was independent effect level adjustment for reverb and delay, rather than a single overall "dry to wet" adjustment that modified both effect's levels (wetness) at the same time.

Confidence Boosting Pedal

By Eric Leland

from Cumming, GA

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceTone Mic Mechanic Reverb, Delay, & Pitch Correction Pedal:

I am new to being a co-lead singer in a band. I've been the bassist and maybe sang one or two or had some back ups. Now I am singing 70% of the set and playing bass. It's a lot to handle and tough to concentrate on both equally. The other singer in my band picked up one of these and brought it to practice and it blew me away. Now all I could think was "I don't want him sounding better than me!" so I picked one up on the way to a gig at a festival, with a club gig later than night (tough on vocals, one outside in the cold, one inside in the smoke). Plugged it in next to the harmony pedal and into the PA. Instantly I sounded better than I ever had before. As soon as it "felt" right, my confidence went up and I really got into the singing part. The recordings don't lie. We sounded better than the other bands as far as vocal tone and clarity. We were also very in tune the whole night. I particularly liked the compression, I didn't have to strain to hold longer notes.

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceTone Mic Mechanic Reverb, Delay, & Pitch Correction Pedal:

I bought one of these on a whim because I was getting over being sick and thought I needed a little help standby incase I started losing my voice again. I've kind of gotten use to it now though I was completely opposed to them no long ago.
In my use, I use it just about a hair on, only enough to tune my voice after I have been on the note for a little while. I use to think it was for singers that couldn't sing but now I look at it as a fretboard for my voice.
I don't use it heavily or for an effect so what I get out of it is a solid landing on long notes. For my own voice, I notice a little waver, like most people have, and what this does is waits until my expression has slid onto the note and then it sort of locks me in.
Vocal pitch correction has been around for a long time now and I see this as a great way to be able to float a better expression out there without having to worry as much about flopping a note. BUT - if you hit a note that is far off, you'll get a completely wrong note locked in and that goes triple if you over use this thing. If you can't sing and want to fix that, you need something with a lot more features like the key sensitive units. This one just listens to your voice and puts it to the closest note in a A440 chromatic world.
One more thing to mention is that you better have your instruments tuned to A440 or you're going to sound like the worst singer since Milli Vanilli!

    Mic Mechanic

    By flap jaw

    from new york city

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceTone Mic Mechanic Reverb, Delay, & Pitch Correction Pedal:

I was skeptical about this pedal when I purchased it but I did not want to lug a rack of gear to rehearsal. This pedal went beyond my expectations. It provides a nice mic pre, a tone switch that turns on the adaptive eq/compression, a knob for reverb and delay settings and another knob for the amount of pitch correction desired. Delay time and feedback are adjustable. Delay time can be tapped in. The foot button turns the effects on and off and sets the tap delay. It is very simple, not noisy and it is built well. I run this directly into my powered floor monitor and it sounds great.

    Great Buy

    By Dustin Mahaffey

    from Newport Beach, CA

Comments about TC Helicon VoiceTone Mic Mechanic Reverb, Delay, & Pitch Correction Pedal:

This is very easy to use. The compression & pitch correction really smooth out your vocals. It is easy to dial in a effect that you like and gives your voice a better live sound. I didn't want a large board with a thousand tones I would never use so this is perfect. All the effect you need with some light compression.
