Heavy production has never been more popular, but then again, neither has the singer and the song. Acoustic guitar and vocal presentation is like walking without a net, your music presented in its most exposed format, and your audience appreciates that. The natural companion for any modern singer-songwriter, TC Helicon's Play Acoustic combines all the things you need to make a live acoustic performance shine; lavish vocal sounds, perfect backing harmonies, best-selling guitar FX, and unique processing that makes your six-string sing - in perfect harmony with your voice.

What Every Singer Wants
Keep your vocals clean with a tight reverb or simple harmony - or go all out with tasty delays, thick doubles, edgy hardtuning, cool modulations, and raw distortions - the choice is yours. Best of all, we've improved the portamento and humanization of our renowned harmony effects, making your tireless two-singer backing group more realistic than ever. And don't worry about setting the key. Play Acoustic follows your guitar chords automatically for harmonies that stay in tune and in time. Equipped with the trademarked Adaptive Tone, Play Acoustic acts as your personal sound engineer providing the one feature no singer should be without: automatic intelligent control of Compression, EQ, De-essing, and Gating, giving your voice the impact and presence to always stand out in the mix.

Body Resonance
TC knows guitars as well they know electronics, and they understand that the sound of resonating wood is what gives an acoustic guitar its particular sonic allure, and this is where BodyRez comes in. New and unique to Play Acoustic, the BodyRez algorithm restores acoustic tone to guitars fitted with undersaddle pickups. Carefully placed filters and fast acting compression combine to reduce "piezo-quack", making your amplified guitar sound like the beautiful full-bodied instrument it is. Dial in as much or as little BodyRez as you need and use the handy EQ controls to fine-tune the dynamics of your sound.

Intuitive Controls and Dedicated I/O
Operating and navigating Play Acoustic is as straightforward as it gets. Use the Up/Down footswitches or central knob to easily browse factory presets, or use the GENRE button to find styles that you like. Dedicated VOCAL FX and GUITAR FX buttons let you access effects directly, and the intuitive user interface makes editing simple and fast. Create your own library of presets with the FAVORITE feature for easy "setlist" recall.
Separate mono XLR outputs for vocals and guitar makes it painless for any sound engineer to mix the levels perfectly for your audience, or you can set the output to Stereo and create your own custom panoramic stereo mix.

Comments about TC Helicon Play Acoustic Voice Processor for Acoustic Guitarists:

I do a solo act in various venues including restaurants, coffee houses, and bars. With just my guitar and voice, the Acoustic Voice gives me a wide range of vocal options to give me a big, rich sound regardless of the venue size. I highly recommend this product to anyone that sings. I know that I wouldn't think about stepping on stage without it.

Comments about TC Helicon Play Acoustic Voice Processor for Acoustic Guitarists:

Let me first say that I love this device, and I would recommend it highly. It will do exactly what it is billed to do.

This is a very capable, very good sounding product. You can pretty much tweak everything that you need to. I was able to dial this thing in to sound fantastic. The only downside is that I had to. If you intend to actually sound like a human being--or several human beings by employing harmony--don't even try the presets. All of the harmonies are too loud in comparison with the lead; and there is far, far too much reverb on every preset that I tried.

I know that reverb sounds--and more importantly--feels good to a lot of singers. It provides extra body to the sound, and can help to cover a number of vocal mistakes. But the reality is that more often than not, acoustic performers are playing in relatively small spaces--not large concert halls. As a listener, lots of reverb in a small club simply sounds incongruous, and a bit ridiculous.

Don't get me wrong, effects have their place; and manipulating effects is an art in popular music that can be just as challenging and impressive as vocal ability or musicianship. But I assumed that something called the 'Play Acoustic' would be most interested in natural sound. This unit will produce it, but you have to put in the effort.

Comments about TC Helicon Play Acoustic Voice Processor for Acoustic Guitarists:

I'm a hobbyist. Used to play professionally, now just do open mic nights and bedroom recording. I bought this to do live solo gigs and acoustic shows. This unit is very, very good at what it claims to do. The presets are tweakable via usb, the firmware is updateable, sound is pretty good. Someone at TC really, REALLY likes reverb. I had to turn the reverb WAY down on the presets I am using, it sounded like I was singing in a porcelain locker room.

Wow! It is just THAT good!

Comments about TC Helicon Play Acoustic Voice Processor for Acoustic Guitarists:

Ok, I?ve been living with the Voice Live Acoustic (VLA) for about three months. I gig with one other guy, Dan. He sings lead and I play the guitar and sing harmony. I have simply not had the time yet to search through ALL the presets and capabilities. I learn more and more, every time I work with it and each time, I am more and more amazed. Although I did not buy the VLA for its acoustic guitar processing, I did buy it at the same time I bought my Fishman Loudbox Artist. For years, I had been on a long and arduous search for an acoustic guitar sound that possessed that true flattop dreadnought sound on stage without having the coins that James Taylor or Alison Kraus has to spend to get everything perfect. I hate, hate, hate that piezo quack! BTW, I play a really old Alvarez Yairi with a Schertler Blue Stick in the saddle. So I was happy with the Fishman but then, I found the body rez feature on the VLA. I added that to the mix and OMG!! As far as harmonies are concerned, I have always had a difficult time, as a backup singer, finding a good third or fifth harmony. For some crazy reason, my mind always hears the melody and ONLY the melody and I have an extremely difficult time singing any other note. As such, I would be fired if I tried to work as a pro backup singer. But during the first rehearsal with the Voice Live Acoustic, I simply began singing the melody note that my mind heard and the VLA filled in the sound with so much fatness it honestly defied belief. Also, Dan is a very good singer, but he does have this bad tendency to over exaggerate his vibrato. It is not natural. I?m trying to break him of this habit. We found that when Dan?s forced vibrato is sung through the VLA, all the harmonies have the same stupid vibrato. This really makes the harmonies sound so synthetic that I call them ?plastic.? Again though, this is not the VLA's fault. It?s Dan?s. I say this because the VLA is not a substitute for poor singing. However, my backup vocals do not have this vibrato and so, the overall sound is really very good. When Dan interjects his fake vibrato, my vocals through the VLA still sound really natural. When Dan gets his vibrato correct, everything sounds even better. There is one weakness that I believe is probably due to the laws of physics. When our music requires that I play finger style patterns on the guitar, the Voice Live Acoustic cannot get enough of a reference from the guitar to make pleasing harmonies. We do a really nice cover of Scarborough Fair but sadly, we cannot use the Voice Live Acoustic to fatten the sound even more. There is just too much going on on the guitar for the VLA to know what harmonies to choose but it WILL produce harmonies ? just really bad ones. LOL! However, I am still giving this unit five stars because the Voice Live Acoustic is just that good! The bottom line is that the quality of the sound in our little two man show is so superior to the sound we had before the VLA that we went and bought a Voice Live Play for Dan.

    Great acoustic tone

    By Marty

    from Lincolnton, NC

Comments about TC Helicon Play Acoustic Voice Processor for Acoustic Guitarists:

Purchased this about a month ago. Used it live for the first time last week. Great acoustic tone and the vocal effects are the best. Better than any I can find in any DAW. Easy to operate and save presets. Left off one star since only the vocal effects can be saved separately. The guitar effects are the same (global as it's called) regardless of the vocal preset saved. Still - premium guitar and vocal effects. If you never had the opportunity to trial a vocal pedal with harmonies, this is a great one. Very natural sound. For a acoustic/ vocal solo artist, this is the pedal for you.
