TC Helicon VoiceLive Play GTX Guitar/Vocal Harmony and Effects Pedal (H80581)

The first ever combination of complete vocal and guitar processing

TC-Helicon VoiceLive Play GTX takes everything that VoiceLive Play gives to singers and adds award-winning TC Electronic guitar effects and AmpTones. Artist presets offer signature vocal and guitar sounds while full editing ability allows you to define your unique style. Pro or practicing, acoustic or electric, VoiceLive Play GTX is the singing guitarist’s dream machine.

Producers spend more time on perfecting vocals than any other instrument, and the number of layered vocal tracks on a studio recording often runs well into the double-digits. Now the same care for creating vocals live or at home is available to everyone.
VoiceLive Play GTX gives singers the opportunity to experience the sound they know and love from their favorite songs with ease. Featuring automatic backing harmonies, vocal double tracking, pristine EQ and compression, lush reverbs, hard-tuned robo-voice – all the goose-bumps-on-your-arm effects that make today’s Billboard hit vocals pop.

VLOOP performance looper allows you to create a complete performance while turning effects on and off. You can loop your vocals, guitar or both at the same time. Embedded stereo RoomSense mics can control your harmonies from instruments nearby, replace the cabled mic for headphone practice or add ambience to your headphone mix. TC-Helicon’s adaptive tone technology intelligently controls Shape EQ and Dynamics to provide the perfect tonal balance and add smooth dynamic control to fit in any mix. An adaptive gate can also be added to help suppress feedback and reduce bleed.

Plug in your MP3 player and use the Vocal Cancel feature to make your voice stand out over the vocals on the original track. You can also record and play back your singing using the USB connection to your computer. Practice mode analyzes your performance in real-time, helping you spot your strengths as well as focus on areas that might need attention.

  • Great product

As reviewed by joseph kim on 7/5/2012

Super fun product. Been singing and messing around with it forever since I got it. So much flexibility in how you want to program it as far as voice and guitar effects. All of em sound great. I skipped on using the presets during performances. Presets felt more like toys for messing around and learning what it can do. I just made my own after playing around with it for a long time. Makes life a lot simpler than juggling around a whole board of pedals...although you lose that cool factor. It's nice and simple solution for me in a small box. Would highly recommend it.

  • Service is poor

As reviewed by DEBORAH ERENY on 10/13/2013

I love my voice-play live gtx. BUT, the lcd screen on it will flip every now and then when I press the hit button. I thought it was a setting I needed to adjust but it turns out it's a common defect with these units. I emailed T.C. Helicon. Several days went by before they even replied, they then turned the repair over to a company, LIFETIMESERVICE, INC, in New York, I'm in Texas. A few more days went by before I finally got an email from lifetimeservice, asking for my information along with request to email receipt to them before they would even converse with me. I sent it to them and they sent back an email with requirements and an outline of their many disclaimers. Here are some of them from the email. "Please note that the Lifetime Service Center reserves the final right to determine warranty status on any returned or serviced item". "Lifetime Service Center cannot be responsible for damages incurred during shipping - please ensure that the product is packaged properly in original packaging if possible." Needless to say, I'm wasn't very eager to ship off equipment that I use on a regular basis to be gone for who knows how long, to a third party company with took so long to email me. Then to receive an email with so many disclaimers, even though my receipt had been emailed to them with a purchase date of 2/14/13. When I googled Lifetimeservices, I found that they have multiple complaints with the BBB as to not fixing items, returning damaged items, returning the wrong item and keeping items to be repaired for months and referring complaints back to the original manufacturer, which would be TC Helicon, located in Canada, who doesn't do the warranty work.

  • Guitar and Vocal Superstar

As reviewed by Randy Phares on 8/8/2013

First lets start with the Vocal effects. This thing is AWESOME, clean clear and high quality effects. I had a TC Helicon Voice Prism Plus at several times this price (of course that was several years ago) and this unit sounds better. The reverbs are higher quality and the voice modeling and harmonies are as good or better as well. It has an incredible array of things you can do to thicken your voice by doubling (tripling), you can add two harmonies to your original vocal and even change the gender of your harmonies so a male vocalist can have two female harmonies at a higher pitch to accompany them. I used the VoiceLive pedal when it came out and like this pedal much more. It is not as programmable as a Voice Pro but is 1/8th the price. As far as vocal effects alone it gets 5 stars and is by far better than anything you can buy at less than twice the price. The fact that it senses the chords you are playing and matches the harmonies to the chord you are playing is awesome. No more off hey harmonies and no more programming a key for each preset. As a vocalist that sings out front as well as playing guitar and bass while singing I have always chosen MIDI controllable units and programmed a preset for my guitar effects and preamps and my VoicePrism Plus and triggered them with a Rocktron All Access MIDI foot controller. I decided recently that I want to downsize to a pedal board for portability instead of rolling a rack everywhere I go. I read about this device and it intrigued me so I went on YouTube and watched hours of videos and decided I needed to try it. I called Greg Glaser my GC Pro Rep who is Fantastic by the way. I ordered it and have programmed presets for ever song in my setlist in the first few days. For vocals the thing I really love is that it has a HIT button which means that you can assign extra thickening, delays, harmonies, etc. to that switch for each preset so you can have a verse setting and a chorus setting. I wish it applied to the guitar settings as well for solos or amp switching but it is not that big of a deal to have two adjacent presets to accomplish this. As far as guitar effects there are plusses and minuses. As far as quality goes you can't buy effects of this quality in this price range. As far as adjustability/programmability you are very limited. You have a great selection of high quality amp models with speaker emulation so you can plug this unit directly into the PA and you are ready to go. The effects are very good but you have to pick a preset algorithm of which there are a limited selection and you have very few if any parameters that you can manually control. If this was a stand alone guitar processor it would be frustrating if you are used to high end programmable guitar effects. That being said, I was able to get acceptable algorithms for all of my songs and the quality of the effects is outstanding. It would be nice if you had the ability to add or remove effects from the chain, if it had a compressor effect (it has a compressor amp), if you could program the variables on the flanger, chorus and delay, etc. like you can on the vocal side. The other downside is that it doesn't have a MIDI out so you can't use it to control preset switching on other units. As another plus it has a headphone out so you can use an in-ear monitor directly from your device if you want. In conclusion for a portable all-in-one unit that will allow a singing guitar player like me to have a great guitar sound and great vocals with harmonies that I can attach to a pedal board and take with me when I gig, rehearse or sit in with other bands this is the best value on an item that I ever purchased. If it broke, I would get another one immediately. My pedal board will have a Digitech X100 for Wah, Whammy, Detune effects, a compressor, this VoiceLive GTX a wireless guitar system, a wireless In-Ear Monitr System, I wireless Mic System and I am good to go. By the way this thing also has a great tuner built in and you should always use it for tuning so your guitar and harmonies will be tuned to the same pitch. This is an umbelievable value. These effects would cost several thousands of dollars to replace and it is in one ultraportable unit that can plug directly into the PA. TC Helicon hit a home run on this item. Check it out for yourself.
