Guitarists everywhere, start your engines, because your tone is about to take a new turn! Introducing the NDR-1 Nova Drive, TC Electronic's dual engine, digitally controllable, true bypass overdrive/distortion effect pedal, that features the awesome analog drive circuit ported from the acclaimed Nova System.
The TC Electronic Nova Drive pedal brings you the great sounding analog circuit from Nova System, with all the digital control that modern guitarists demand. The result: classic old school sound that ensures chills down your spine and a wide grin at every riff, lick, and face-melter with digital control options that enable you to integrate NovaDrive into your setup and tailor the sound with total precision, resulting in more control, resulting in more confidence, and ultimately resulting in a better performance. Finally you have a place to create, store and recall all the distorted and overdriven sounds you could ever need: Nova Drive.
The Overdrive Section
The analog, yet digitally controlled overdrive section of the NDR-1 Nova Drive effects pedal takes you from a clean boost plus a little extra oomph, through bluesy sting and smooth tube-like breakup to heavy, all-out crunch-a-licious goodness.
Nova Drive's overdrive section is also the perfect place to find added sustain for your existing sounds and to supercharge your already great sounds into instant classics. Its amazing analog tone will blow you and other tone purists away and though the overdrive is instantly recognizable, it doesn't mess with your original tone that you've spent so many hours creating, ensuring easy integration into your current sound.
The overdrive section on the guitar pedal features a dedicated 'mix' knob that allows you to mix in your original sound as you see fit, preserving the original character of your tone. The overdrive section of Nova Drive guitar pedal also features Level, Tone, and Overdrive controls. Added to that, the preset and control options of Nova Drive ensure that you don't have to rebuild your setup from scratch to use it”the pedal works to enhance your tone and rig. It integrates with your existing sounds so well, it's best described as adding another channel to your amp.
The Distortion Section
The dedicated analog, digitally controlled distortion section of Nova Drive's dual engine design gives you a wide range of distortion and tones from punchy subtle driving distortion to balls-to-the-wall screaming fuzz that'll drive you wild in the best way imaginable.
Nova Drive's distortion features a 2-band equalization section with Bass and Treble knobs, allowing for precise shaping of your distorted sounds and added flexibility to your tones. Nova Drive's distortion character is best typified as raw, but like the overdrive section, it preserves all character of your own sound. Used as a primary distortion, it excels at classic arena rock rhythm tones and guitar-hero soaring leads.
Do you have a powerful amp with too much headroom to crank? Nova Drive nails that sweet spot where a tube amp goes from sparkly clean to warm overdrive, minus the earsplitting volume. Maybe you already love your rig's overdriven and distorted sound? In that case the Nova Drive distortion section is the perfect solution as a boost for solos, giving you all the extra kick you could ever need.
Both the overdrive and distortion in Nova Drive have gain ranges that will take you anywhere from creamy soulful blues to a 'chunky face-melter announcing the apocalypse' type distortion. Add the 3 different routing options when stacking the overdrive and distortion (OD > DIST” DIST > OD” Parallel) and Nova Drive is capable of delivering a very wide range of tones, arming you with awesome sounds wherever your creativity may take you.
So, what good is having a wide range of tones when you can only use one of them? That's right, no good at all! With 18 instantly recallable presets Nova Drive is the only pedal on the market that allows for actual use of all the different tones you have so meticulously crafted. Recalling them is easy and done on the fly so they are ready to rock when you are.
Whether you go for the sound of the apocalypse or the sound of silence; Nova Drive is true bypass which means no sucking of your precious tone when the pedal is off.
Nova Drive can be fully controlled via MIDI. It is possible to change presets, toggle the overdrive and distortion on/off, change routing, and access all parameters in real time with continuous controllers. This is made easy and straightforward, so even if you think Floyd Rose is Axl's younger brother, setting up Nova Drive to work in a midi-based setup is a breeze. This unique feature makes the TC Electronic Nova Drive the perfect fit for any rack- or midi-based setup”even those huge rigs you'd expect Batman to use if he played.
Pimp your G-System
Nova Drive is the ultimate G-System accessory. A connected Nova Drive will automatically be discovered through plug-and-play technology. Once they are matched like Brangelina, you get full access to all Nova Drive parameters, preset select, and routing from the G-System menu as if Nova Drive was an internal G-System effect. This even includes modifiers, making it possible to control the amount of distortion or overdrive in real time using your G-System's expression pedal.
The TC Electronic Nova Drive can be used as a standalone pedal, with a G-Switch, in a rack setup, or with a G-System. Whether you're a straightforward "less squawkin', more rockin'"”stompbox guy or into freaking around with hi-tech rack setups, Nova Drive effect pedal is guaranteed to integrate perfectly into your existing rig, or that "I am SO getting that once I get me some cash" dream rig of the future.

This is definitely the best overall OD/Dist pedal I have ever tried. Bought one, took it out of the box and went directly to a gig. It is very simple to handle, yet quite complicated if you engage in the programming sections. It will give you all settings from "almost clean" to heavy metal distortion. I use it so that I have the OD as my standard sound and then either raise the volume on the guitar or add the distortion for solos. You can route the effects so that either of the two pedals is first in the effect loop. You can also set them in parallell. I simply set that switch to what sounds best for me, and honestly I don't really know how I am using it ;o) It is a bit expensive, but worth every penny in my opinion. It is all analog and very noise free compared to what I have been using before.
I have owned many TC products over the years and this pedal lives up to the quality of the TC name. I also have a G-System in my main rig and a Nova System for fly dates. The pedal is a great addition to either of those rigs. I love the natural analog overdrive/ distortion it provides. I can get a real nice bitty rhythm sound or a creamy smooth lead sound. It can be used in a total rock song or a r&b tune. Very versatile. My only wish is that TC would have included it in their G-System. But with an option cable you can tie it in.
The Nova Drive is a very excellent sounding and flexible pedal for the money. It sounds worlds better than the Line 6 DM4 I just traded in, most likely due to a true analog design. If you are searching for a real boutique sound like Keeley, Lovepedal, Way Huge, T-rex, Zvex or whatever, this will get you pretty darn close and have more sounds on tap. Obviously not designed for metal players, but will suit just about everyone else. Going to let a few of my friends who are professional live/studio guitarists give this a shot and see what they think. If it matters, I have guys who have been all over the Chicago and global music scene ask my opinion on guitar sound and setups. My current simplified setup is Strat->DL4->Nova Drive->Fender Hot Rod Deluxe->Shure KSM44 or Heil PR40
I bought this to work with my Line 6 M13 since I thought its ODs were too digital. The TC Nova Drive fixed all of that with its purely analog sound. With two pedals in one, it can go from low gain blues, to high gain rock, to numetal distortion. Currently, I'm using the preset-mode so I can have two stages of gain at my disposal. The one and only problem I found with this pedal was that in switching between OD to OD+Dist, there's a noticeable difference in the overall tone. So practicing by myself, I can hear it, but on-stage its negligible. Otherwise, everything's great! Switches are top-notch, control are very easy to figure out, and the versatility is unbelievable. I wish I could get the TC G-Switch so I could have more presets available...
do you want clean overdrive? or a kill distortion? you can get buth in one pedal!!! i likr it,its easy to use and suond good! i play-blues rock and heavy rock, its good to all of them. go and buy it-the best pedal thet i ever use
All fuzz boxes sound the same to me, and this one is as good as any of them. The Nova Drive's advantage is the ease of dialing in the right sound, and the fact that you can save presets. The flexible routing option combines the two drive sections for gain-stacking flexibility. My only disappointment is that I can't change NDR presets from my Pod X3 Live. The problem is in the Pod, it sends out a bunch of CCs that change the NDRs settings. I'll have to get a gadget to filter the MIDI, then the NDR will track patch changes on the Pod.
I have a TC Nova system, and I kind of liked the drive section, but the overdrive section always blended in the clean tone, and the distortion section was always too compressed to be of much use. I have also tried almost every top overdrive and distortion I can think of, and was always underwhelmed by the tones and versatility, which always led me to use the tube amp overdrive channel. This was great for playing out with my own band, as I prefer this as the best tone for me. But when i got the nova drive, it had such a natural overdrive tone, with a blend knob to control the amount of clean, it allowed me to mimic just about every overdrive pedal in my collection. I have now sold or am in the process of selling them, since I can easily replicate the tone of my favorites. And what's even better for me, is there is a distortion side with which I can always get a usable sound with, which is able to replicate most lead channels of the amps I am currently using. Along with ability to use overdrive and distortion together in various ways, and with 18 presets (how many distortion presets do you really need, anyway), it's insane. I can now go to a blues jam with my little pedalboard (tc nova system +tc nova drive+ wah/volume pedal), plug into any amp clean channel, and blow out killer tones no matter what style is going down. Any two channel amp I own is now a four channel amp. It's just nuts. Best pedal I've ever bought. And it MIDI's to my Nova System, so everything can be used stomp box style, or I can use my G switch and pull up entirely new rigs with presets in place at the touch of a single foot switch. It's like having a modeling system, but all the drives are analog. And it sounds great. I can't recommend this pedal enough.
