Overview

The ND-1 Nova Delay raises the bar for guitar effect pedals and redefines what it means to be "state-of-the-art." It's built upon the legacy and knowledge of TC's world-renowned TC 2290 Dynamic Digital Delay.

With 6 different stereo delay types and the option to store up to 9 presets customizable by an array of style parameters ranging from vintage tape to digital delay. This effect pedal easily serves all delay requirements of modern guitar players who seek unique sounds.

Each of these types can be modified with a delay style - a unique feature of ND-1 Nova Delay that allows you to mix and match your delay type and style infinitely.

With the ND-1 Nova Delay, both single delay and dual delay lines can be applied to any type and style using the tap tempo switch or delay time knob to determine the delay time that ranges from 1 to 2290 ms.

Three different types of modulation (light, medium and heavy) can be applied to any of the delay types - a feature originating from the TC 2290 Dynamic Digital Delay processor.

The all-new Audio Tapping technology enables you to set the tempo of the delay by playing a rhythm into the pedal while holding down the tap tempo switch. You can now set the tempo of the delay using your most important asset: Your playing.

Other great ND-1 Nova Delay features include the pedal's ability to choose between ms (milliseconds) and bpm (beats per minute) readout, decide if you want spillover on individual settings and turn global tempo - where tap tempo determines delay time on user presets - on and off.

Between the DL4, the DD-20, and the ND1, theres really no debate as to which is a better pedal, the ND1 just has so much more functionality and personalization room! you can go between 3 different delay colors, digital, analog, and tape; you can add different levels of modulation to the delay repeats, which can range from a slight dip in the frequency of your note, to a mild chorus effect. like other pedals, it has different rhythm subdivisions that the delays wil follow, as well as a stereo delay option for each. my favorite part is the footswitchable presets, and the dynamic delay setting. Once you set up your 9 presets, you can tap between them with your footpedal! Also, the dynamic delay is a setting where basically the more signal the pedal gets, the less it will affect the output. so play your lead, and then slowly turn your volume downwith the tempo, and the effect will equally swell in...so cool. overall a great pedal, the next pedal i get wil probably be the nova reverb

I bought this about 3-4 years ago for live gigging. My biggest issue with it is the lack of battery backup for retaining custom settings. Every time you unplug the pedal from electricity (it's only source of power) you will lose your custom settings. Also to switch to a different saved setting during a song you will have to use your hand to manually select the saved setting. There is no way to use your foot to change settings (unless you play barefoot and use your toes, hint... the chicks won't dig that). Additionally, the foot selector switch tends to stick in the depressed position which makes for frantic and awkward scrambling to pull out the button in order to engage the delay. One other thing, the LED display which shows which setting you are on is not bright, nearly invisible in sunlight and also very hard to read on stage with colored stage lighting around. In all, I think it's too expensive for it's annoyances and is best suited for home recording where it can stay plugged in to a electrical outlet and not lose your custom settings.

Comments about TC Electronic ND-1 Nova Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

Awesome pedal! Sounds great and easy to use. I love the tap tempo feature and also how you can set your tempo in either milliseconds or bpm. Definitely the best delay pedal under 200. It does everything I'd need a delay to do. I couldn't see myself upgrading unless I started to tour more.

Comments about TC Electronic ND-1 Nova Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

You must read the instructions carefully particularly about GLOBAL TEMPO. Before you can store a preset you must make sure you understand to make this setting FIRST...I have not used it live yet but I think the audio tap tempo will be a nice feature. It weighs alot but is very clean and probably the best sounding one that I have found

Comments about TC Electronic ND-1 Nova Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

Love this thing. Easy to use, and sounds awesome. Tap tempo is easy to use, and works flawlessly. The only thing missing is the ability to switch prgrams via footswitch. Using this live, I have to bend down between songs to change preset programs. Not a big deal really, but if it had either another switch on the box, or a out jack like the Boss DD-20 to attach a seperate switch that would work as a program change, would take this from great to epic.

      Big Variety and Simplistic

      By Tim Reisinger

      from Ohio

Comments about TC Electronic ND-1 Nova Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

When looking for a delay it was between this, a giga delay, and a dl4. after comparisons and reviews, This one does have a few less capabilities and presents than a giga delay but the nova delay was considerably easier to dial in and work, especially on the fly if your experimenting. This thing is a tank and will take what ever you throw at it while the dl4 is more fragile and is more known to break. This has the 6 different delay modes and can be changed with a push of a button as well as the type of notes you want. The tap tempo being built in makes it significantly more convenient while the LCD will be able to tell you the tempo in bpm or milliseconds. I have had this for a year and works perfectly the same as when i got it and not a hair worse. It is lucky to find a few moments where it isn't on considering i have the dynamic delay on at all times to add more fullness to my playing. This may not be able to do multiple delays at once but using the different note styles makes it as complex as you should need. plus being able to control the sound from digital, tape, and analogue with everything between you can get any sound your looking for. If you do a lot of swells and stuff the added modulation styles that you can add make your sound more full and bring it to life. So if your unsure what one to get, this is great to use, sounds crystal clear, and is about the same price. Get it and you'd have to be mad to take it back.

      BEST DELAY AVAILABLE

Comments about TC Electronic ND-1 Nova Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

If you are even considering another delay pedal, i ask that you would clear your mind of it temporarily and just consider this pedal. Look up reviews and demos on you tube. You'll see that this pedal performs. I can say from over a year of experience with this pedal that there has never been a time when I wished it could do more. 'Nuf said. But seriously!! This pedal is Amazing!! Super responsive, super customizable, and you'll never again have to worry about tapping a dotted eigth!! You can save up to 9 presets on this thing, plus using the manual delay settings, which gives you the option of up to 10 self-set delay sounds to which you have super quick access. I have used this pedal for everything from heavy metal to Hillsong and it has never let me down!! I've tried it on a number of guitar and amp combinations, and I still got it to do what I wanted it to!! If you're thinking that you may not want this because of too many features and you'll feel overwhelmed, then just use the most basic settings (Delay line type and straight eights note subdivision) and get this pedal just for the presets!! For you acoustic players out there, this pedal works amazing for you guys too!! I've tried it myself!! I have never been, nor will I ever be unsatisfied with this pedal!!! I recommend this over the Line6 DL4 Delay under any and all circumstances. The Nova Delay out performs every other pedal out there!! So don't wait if you're considering getting one!! Get it!!!

Comments about TC Electronic ND-1 Nova Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal is the best delay pedal I've seen. Delays sound incredible while maintaining a high level of customizability and versatility. The presets are integrated well and can be changed easily on the fly. With both tap tempo and the ability to set delay speed by BPM or milliseconds, you never have to worry about being out of time with a drummer. The subdivision feature is especially useful for those that like to use their delays to create rhythmic patterns (like the Edge from U2). This pedal is incredibly functional for the amount of sounds packed into it and has quite a reasonable price tag, I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quality delay.

      Its the one you want.

      By Justin Mccain

Comments about TC Electronic ND-1 Nova Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

Ive been using my Nova Delay for about 2 years now. I bought it used then, and it has been a tank since. Its construction is premium, and the features are even more premium. This pedal changed my musical life and sound. I looked high and low for a delay pedal that wasnt super hard to use and didnt take a ridiculous amount of space up. The Nova was the one I decided on. Now I am spreading the awesomeness of the Nova series around, and Im seeing a lot more Novas on boards. Just get this pedal. It will do what you want it to do. Its as simple as that.

      Awesome doesn't even come close!

      By Alan Hendricks

Comments about TC Electronic ND-1 Nova Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

Let me start by saying I also have a DL4 and a Boss DD-7 but the Nova Delay blows them both away! It has so many features and is very user friendly. And at only $50 more than the Nova Repeater it is well worth the money. The pedal is very versital no matter what sound/tone your looking for. It is very bright and cuts through very well. I love the dynamic delay mode for solos, it lowers the volume of the delays depending on the spead you're playing so that the delays are tastful and not muddy/overbearing. It will do many delay modes without a problem, including my favorite the dotted eighth. You can also run duel delays. Having 9 presets is perfect. Not to mention the modulation is a nice touch as well. If I could only have 1 pedal from my board this one would be it. The build/case is very solid. You will not find any other delay pedal with this many features and versitility for such a great price. I strongly recommend this pedal to any one. Whether you're a seasoned player or a beginner looking to buy their first delay, this thing is great.

      Amazing features for the price

      By Ian Althouse

      from Philly, PA

Comments about TC Electronic ND-1 Nova Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal is literally the most important part of my sonic arsenal. I can't describe how useful this little box is. It solved a lot of problems I had using a single box delay unit. First and foremost, it has PRESETS. 9 PRESETS to be exact! As a live guitarist/singer, I have different delay speeds and settings for different songs and this pops them all into one tight package. They are very easy to breeze through. Setting them up is a lot more complicated than it should be in my opinion, but once you get it it's all good. The dynamic styles of delays are pretty sweet as well ranging from ping pong to slapback. I really enjoyed the U2/Edge type delay that sounds like 2 going at once i.e. the "Streets Have No Name" sound. It's ridiculous how accurate it sounds. The second best feature is definitely the separate TAP-TEMPO switch. It makes it much easier to adjust to a drummer who's changing rhythms during a song or starting off too fast. Everything in this pedal can help you make the quick adjustments. Bonus points for the Analog/Digital knob to model different sounding effects. I honestly can't hear much with the modulation knob, it doesn't effect the tone as much as I'd thought, but I guess it's cool to have. It's the cleanest sounding delay I've heard in pedal form. If you've been itching for a fantastic live delay, this one is HANDS DOWN the best option. Considering that the Line 6 delay is around the same price with modeling effects and only a few presets available, it's a pretty easy choice. But to each his own, the Line 6 sounds great also. Analog users should check it out as well, if not, the Deluxe Memory Man is great.
