Overview

The TC Electronic MojoMojo Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal is the overdrive pedal that will breathe life, magic and that certain something into your sound, making your playing stand out.

Guitarists everywhere are always looking for that little extra push over the cliff, a touch of magic to their sound that gives just that extra bit of bite, body and tone. MojoMojo Overdrive will give you that flash of perfection every time you engage it, providing a crisp and clear overdrive with a rock-solid bottom end.

A sweet blues lead, an extra chunky rhythm tone or a soaring solo, it's all there - and then some. MojoMojo Overdrive is equipped with separate bass and treble controls and a bass-response voice toggle that prevents your bass frequencies from ever disappearing when you step on the pedal.

For maximum mojo, MojoMojo Overdrive features true bypass, an easy-access battery hatch, a small footprint and the highest-grade components.

One of the reasons why this is such a dynamic pedal is the fact that TC Electronic use a special circuit that ramps up the voltage to more than 3-4 times the amount of your typical drive pedals. However, this added gain isn't used to squeeze more overdrive/distortion out of the pedal, but to dramatically increase the headroom and dynamics.

The result? One of the most alive overdrives you have ever heard, a pedal that defines all that is magic about overdriven sounds and a pedal that responds to your playing in dynamic and ultra-musical ways. It cleans up when you want it to and when you really dig in, MojoMojo Overdrive is right there with you.

Features
  • True Bypass - zero loss of tone
  • Drive, Level, Bass and Treble controls - total control of your overdrive sounds
  • Voicing switch - for an awesome mid-shift
  • Easy battery access - makes changing batteries fun! (well, almost)
  • Small footprint - save precious pedal board space
  • High-quality components - only the best will do when it comes to tone
  • Road-ready design - ready to follow you wherever your playing takes you
  • DC adapter sold separately

I just picked up this bad boy the other day and was quite impressed when it took it out of the box and plugged it in. I have a Pedaltrain PT-2 pedal board, big enough board but you always try to keep space, this pedal has a small footprint. Rugged metal casing, super quick access to the battery compartment. I find the controls to be better then most other pedals as it has an individual bass and treble knob as opposed a blanket type tone knob. Another great feature is the voice switch which allows you to increase or decrease the highs which is especially helpful when switching between single coils and humbuckers. I use this pedal through a solid state amp (I am picking up a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe really soon however) and this pedal still sounds great. Whether you use it stand alone for a light crunch or to beef up a distorted channel it?s a great pedal. Highly recommended!

Comments about TC Electronic MojoMojo Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is a great starting overdrive pedal. It has a warm sound and an amazing range. Most overdrive pedal's only have a "tone" knob which isn't bad, but this pedal gives you more versatility in the specific tone you want to settle in. The Bass knob really fattens up your tone, but can flub out sometimes if your'e using humbuckers and only the neck pickup. The treble gives a great presence to your tone, but it can be a bit too bright if you turn it up all the way. However, both tone controls are very touch sensitive (which I like) where you can be at 1 o'clock and switch to 2 o'clock and have completely different sounds. If you don't mind taking time to find the right tone (which it has loads of), and you like versatility, get this pedal! The Voice switch makes little difference (compared to the Fulltone OCD), but it makes enough of a difference to choose if you like the mid's to be pushed a little or the tone to be chunky.
It's a normal footprint on the pedal board and very well built. I highly recommend it (especially for the price!)

Comments about TC Electronic MojoMojo Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

My old ailing, noisy Tube Screamer clone wasn't cutting it anymore so I spent weeks searching for a replacement, after narrowing things down to several pedals priced at $150 or more I kept returning to the videos and reviews on the MojoMojo, they seemed a bit good to be totally true considering the very low price. Saving money is always a cool thing if it doesn't mean cutting too many corners and sacrificing tone so I went for it. Simply and honestly put, I couldn't be happier, it is all that TC Electronics and most reviewers say it is and adds exactly what I was looking for to my Fender Super Champ amp, I mostly play it along with the #8 Marshall like setting on the amp and it takes it into another dimension, it gets the job done when needed on the clean channel also. The controls are versatile and sensitive, you can hear the difference with very little turning of the knobs. The true bypass seems to work very well but I can't say that when the pedal is switched on it doesn't add a subtle amount of it own coloration, in this case, a good one, I truly like this pedal and my search is over.

Comments about TC Electronic MojoMojo Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I am running this in front of a Randall Diavlo 100h - with the help of this pedal, I'm able to dial my gain back to about 10 o'clock and get some really good sounding gain from the amp at any volumes. It has given me a squishy, responsive "fill in the gaps" sound that I have been looking for - don't get me wrong, the amp supplies PLENTY of gain and tone, but I felt that it needed something else to give it more character, and this little miracle was the answer. I also really like the pedal by itself on a clean channel, as it adds a bit of warmth and some bluesy crunch. If lost or broken, I wouldn't hesitate to replace! (I've also managed to uncover an UNREAL gain tone by stacking this little gem with a JOYO Ultimate Drive...I could not believe my ears...just FYI!)

Comments about TC Electronic MojoMojo Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I was looking for a Nice Stand-Alone Pedal to add in my other other pedals. I didn't want to pay a lot of money, as I have a lot of money wrapped up in my other Gear. I was looking for something that would have Good Tone, Versatile, Responsive to Rolling Back the Volume Knob (to use between clean & heavy without adjusting the Amp or Pedal), Built Really Solid (Metal Case) & wouldn't sound Really Thin.

Multiple Reviews I checked out, from multiple websites mentioned - This Pedal resembles a Over-Driven Tube Amp. I really like that there are Bass & Treble Knobs, Instead of a Single Tone Knob.

          - Bass Knob - Resembles more of a Sound Thickness than a Typical Bass Knob. Very responsive to slight adjustments & can be Dialed in to the exact sound that you are looking for.
          - Treble Knob - Resembles more of a 'Sparkle' Tone. The higher up you go on the knob the more Clarity in Sound you get. With having this knob turned up all the way - You get a Very Clear Sound, without having Ear Piercing Highs. Rare with many pedals.
          - Distortion Knob - Typical to other pedals - More or Less depending on how much you turn the knob.
          - Level knob - This packs a Punch & can actually increase the Volume of your Amp quite nicely.

I considered getting it's counter-part 'Dark Matter'. Videos I saw online, DM seemed to sound better. However - While I was watching them, I didn't consider that the sound I hear through my Speakers is what is recorded by the Microphone from the Video Camera used. In other words - It has a different Tone in person, compared to what you hear in a video.
--Dark Matter sounds Good for Really Heavy Metal. However - If you are one that plays anything between Folk, Pop, Rock, Hard Rock & so on - There's a lot more usable Tones with the MojoMojo.

--Haha - Yeah, I know - It has a Funny Name. Anytime the name is mentioned, most people Crack Some Kind of Joke. Until they hear the Tone!!! After that - All Jokes Stop!
          --------Give it a Chance!

Comments about TC Electronic MojoMojo Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I play this through a Sterling by Music Man JP100 with DiMarzio Crunch lab and Liquifire humbuckers, into a Bugera G5 tube amp and a 12", closed back speaker cabinet. It sounds amazing, once you facial it it to work well with the amp and speaker(s) you are using. In my case I had to cut the bass down to about 9 o'clock, and boost the treble to about 2 o'clock.

With the drive set to about 12 o'clock, playing the amp clean, I get a similar sound to the amp at a similar gain setting, but there is a bit more compression - the sound is a bit fuller and sustains longer. Setting the amp to the dirty channel with the gain low, also about 12 o'clock, and stacking the MOJO MOJO in front, I can get a very nice, liquid, sustaining lead tone. Using the pedal on its own with the gain cranked into the clean amp sounds great as well, a nice rock tone.

I still can't believe this pedal was only $50! Anyone who says they can't get a usable sound out of this pedal is more than likely not dialing it in very well at all. Excellent build quality and sound quality, and highly flexible.

This is a great pedal, but make sure its what you want. The overdrive on this pedal is meant to be similar to a cranked tube amp and it does that job great. Great pedal over all, super dependable.

          Natural Sound

          By John

          from Yorba Linda CA

Comments about TC Electronic MojoMojo Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal does everything that I expected it to do in terms of tone production. It is very transparent, but adds a nice tube sparkle on top of my already stellar tone. I am playing a DeArmond/Guild style hollow body into two amps, a Blues Jr. and a Ramparte in stereo. The Mojomojo adds a good boost, and allows me to brighten up the tone a bit, as the DeArmond is thick and dark. The switch doesn't seem to change the tone on this guitar as much as I expected, but it probably would on a strat. The breakup is very natural and the ramp up of distortion is quite discrete, i.e. you can adjust it in very natural incremental steps. My pedal chain right now is this pedal, a reverb (T2) and echo (Alter Ego), plus a tuner and an A/B switch for the Ramparte. Oh yeah I also use a looper. I'm going to have to add another switch for boost, as I like to play with the Mojomojo on all the time, which doesn't give me something to hit for lead sections, though I usually play with my volume down a bit and turn it up for those sections.

          Excellent Overdrive pedal

          By BRAD KOSOWAN

Comments about TC Electronic MojoMojo Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I was lucky and got this pedal on sale and am completely impressed with the sonic options that this pedal possesses. Having a 2 channel amp, A Bugera V22, I use this pedal to add some warmth to the clean channel and add some bite to the Gain/Overdrive channel. The "Voice" switch adds dynamics to the sound pallet while the 2 tone controls help to dial in the sound, instead of the single tone control most overdrive pedals possess. The Drive and Level controls take the sound from a simple boost to a High gain sound with minimal adjustments. I highly recommend this pedal over the FullTone OCD pedal simply for the tone controls and the sonic options.
