Not worth the Money, incredibly over hyped

By Lloyd

I was excited when the card arrived in the mail. With all those top flight guitar players, it was easy to assume that I would get tons of great patches. Many of the patches fall into the bizarre/comedic/entertainment category. They are wild and crazy. I couldn't use them in any gigs, unless there was a brief moment of comedy. If you play retro C&W, Classic Rock or disco, you could use a few of the sounds. To me, at least 80% of the patches are totally useless with many completely ridiculous. Going thru all of the patches, this becomes really irritating. I would not use them on C&W, Jazz, Rhythm n Blues, Rock or Metal gigs I've played in the past. Why did so many great guitar players come up with so many lousy patches? I don't know. There are so many awesome chorus/delay sounds that are not used that could have been in the card (found in Rock/Jazz/Metal/C&W today). I found 18 patches that I kept. I got some awesome distortion sounds. For that reason, I will not send it back. However, it is a real temptation to return it since it is mostly useless. There is even a book that comes with it that tells you about all these worthless patches. That is a real waste of resources.............theirs and mine. I hate the TC Electronics manual written by engineers. TC Electronics thinks every one is an engineer who loves endless verbiage. There are no Youtube videos on the basics, unlike Line 6. If I would have experimented with G Force and studied the wretched manual, I could have come up with the decent patches. If you hate their manual as much as I do, you might buy this thing. However, if you spend the time and are willing to experiment, you can do everything here. You won't wind up with so many stupid and useless patches. The G Force is one of the most awesome racks out there today. To paraphrase Churchill: "Never in the course of guitar effects has so many famous guitar players put out so many stupid and useless patches." Lloyd Chappell

Been using it for a few weeks now and I find it tastefully inspiring. Most of the time I don't even realize how well the presets fit in the mix until jam night. This card also provides automatic software updates. Installation took all of thirty seconds and was refreshingly easy. Major time saver when most alterations to a preset for my personal preferences can be taken care of by kicking off a compressor, filter, reverb etc. from an easy access button on the front panel rather than delving into lost pages on a computer or menu screens that go on forever and subsequently losing the flow of creativity. With the Eventide Timefactor I found myself dialing back the mix to about seven percent for most presets. Nice to have the power when you need it, (for example the Timefactor with vocals) but for most guitar purposes the TC keeps a decent leash on this effects junkie without having the other players looking at me sideways, unless the effect is meant to be a little over-the-top. I only give it four stars because I don't like to say that anything is perfect. For less than the price of a decent pedal this card saves me countless hours adjusting every little parameter on nine different effects. What can I say, TC makes nice stuff and they are a big enough company to acquire the heavy hitters for programming this card. I enjoy playing originals and for creating music I can strongly recommend this product.

It's ok ...

It's alright, you could live without this. If you find these written down somewhere, you could reproduce them manually. Nothing earth-shattering ...
