I've always played through 15" speakers and had already decided on an amp that had a 15" speaker. As I walked past the BG250-112, I decided to try it out even though I wouldn't think of using a 12" speaker.
After trying it out, I bought it. After gigging with it, it's the best amp I've used in a long time. Being a 15" speaker guy my whole life, I found that the BG250-112 gave a batter balance of bass, mid, and high than the 15. With 250 watts, it's more than enough power as an instrument monitor. A DI provides the pre or post signal to the sound system with quite an incredible tone.
I play blues, old school funk, jazz, and rock and have played small and med/large rooms with it achieving great tone and having enough power.
It's eq system is unique and offers great flexibility in achieving a great tone, however you need to know and understand the eq on your bass in relation to the eq that you are adjusting on the amp. Also, the TonePrint function is absolutely awesome!
So, if you are looking for an amp that can give a good balance of the bass, mid, and high frequency spectrum, with some power behind it, great eq system, and the awesome TonePrint function – then this is the amp for you!

When mine arrived right out of the box the speaker voice coil was rubbing and I had to send it back. The one I tested at a local store was great but MF had better price. I have other top end amps and wanted light weight portable amp for smaller gigs, I may or may order it again as now I'm a little worry of TC quality control.

Not sure of the over all construction as for ware and tare but only time would tell. I wish they used recessed steal handle instead of cheap vinyl one which would be better for transporting, but to keep the cost down is more likely why they went that route. The tone is easy to dial in and the effects are great.

Comments about TC Electronic BG250-112 250W 1x12 Bass Combo Amp with 2 TonePrint Slots:

This is a good low cost bass combo amp. It has numerous tones that can be dialed in, though none can deliver the smooth warmth I get out of my Eden head and Ampex cabs. But that's not apples to apples. It is lighter weight which is nice for hauling around to rehearsals. Plenty of power for that. I'd be able to use this in a small club setting too. The tolex cover does seem to tear easily...cheap tolex? I would certainly consider buying another if this was stolen. At first I bought a Fender Rumble 100 but returned it because it sounded a bit tinny to me. I think that's a function of it being too light weight. GC took it back after a week without any hassle

I bought a BG250 112 combo less than two years ago and it simply stopped working. While you can't expect great tone from an inexpensive amp like this, you should be able to get more than two years of service from it. Save yourself some grief and spend a bit more for something better because this amp won't seem so inexpensive when it craps out on you.

Comments about TC Electronic BG250-112 250W 1x12 Bass Combo Amp with 2 TonePrint Slots:

I needed a good, pro quality amp for my upright. I went into a local GC that had most bass amp brands and sizes available (ampeg, markbass, gk, fender, acoustic, etc..). I set up about 10-12 feet away from the amps and tried all the amps they had 1x10 1x12 1x15. Of all the amps I tried this BG 250 112 had the most natural, good sound, and it put the low end out in the room--unlike the others that sounded beefy when near them but they didn't project the lows 10 feet away. This amp has a good consistent sound near and far from the amp, and this sold me as I came in to purchase the best amp regardless of cost. I also discovered that this amp is equally as good for electric bass, too. I use it for regular club gigs on electric with no lack of volume. A surprisingly good amp at a good price.

Comments about TC Electronic BG250-112 250W 1x12 Bass Combo Amp with 2 TonePrint Slots:

A friend has used the original BG250 for years and has told me I needed to purchase one. He swears by his and uses it at every venue for every concert. I use a 412 setup in larger venues and out door gigs and am a fan of the 12" speaker tone. This little combo rocks the tone and has plenty of power for rehearsals, small to medium venues and for larger ones where you only need it for stage monitor for the bass. The direct out is great for putting you tone or an I colored bass out to the sound engineer. I love using the Aux Input for my MP3 player while learning new tunes and the headphone output keeps peace in the house with the Old Lady! Very affordable and surpasses my expectations for a light weight bass combo. The TC Electronic, BG250 combos are well worth the investment no matter the speaker configuration. This baby would have gotten five stars IF I could use more than one Tone Print at a time.

Comments about TC Electronic BG250-112 250W 1x12 Bass Combo Amp with 2 TonePrint Slots:

I've been using a Trace-Elliot 210 combo that weighs 86 lbs. I am getting old enough that I no longer can carry it around, so I wanted something much lighter and still have the sounds I want. The BG-250-112 satisfies both! This amp is only 36 lbs. The 12" speaker still has the brightness I like without the low end muddiness of some 15" speakers. The 3 band EQ is easy to get the sounds you like. I generally don't use effects, but the tone print feature may change that. I find myself using them quite a bit and there at tons of free tone print sounds that you can load in (only 2 at a time). The built-in tuner does an adequate job, but when checked against my rack tuner, it is off maybe 50 percent. The amp has a fairly high volume output for small clubs and venues, but it probably needs to use the DI on larger rooms or outdoors. I miss the amp not having an additional speaker output jack. It would be nice to add a cab if needed. However, the amp does everything I need and more! Construction is of nice quality. I am very happy with it. I bought this amp from the "blemished" tab and when I received it, I looked it over to see what was blemished and only found a small dent (the size of a pencil eraser)on one of the case corner bump caps, and I had to look hard to find it. I wouldn't be afraid to buy anything "blemished" from GC and save a few bucks! Overall...Excellent amp, excellent quality, Excellent price and Excellent service from GC. Buy one and you'll be smiling like me.
