  • Compact, quiet stereo modulation pedal

As reviewed by daveT on 7/21/2009

I started with a Vox Tonelab which did not allow me to get modulation effects in the effects loop of my amplifiers. Then I purchased a number of individual modulation effects pedals and the size and complexity of my pedalboard grew out of control. I don't use modulation effects on that many songs, so I wanted these to take up less room on my pedalboard. I looked at the Line6 MM4 and the TC NM1. There are numerous advantages to the NM1 unit over the MM4. It's smaller, allows for 9 presets, not just 4, has two simultaneous effects, not just one, and the tap tempo is pretty cool which I don't believe the MM4 has. This pedal is dead quiet and I found that I could dial in great sounding chorus, phaser, flanger, tremolo and vibrato sounds that were not over the top. Occasionally I play out to two amps, so the stereo effects really sound great. This is the perfect modulation effects pedal. I also own the TC ND1 for delay (I like it better than the Vox Time Machine that I had) and I just purchased the TC NDY1 pedal for compression and noise reduction (even though my entire chain is dead quiet). TC pedals always seem to have more value and higher quality than anything else I compare them to for the same price.

  • TC Electronic NM-1 Nova Modulator Modulation Is Well Worth It

As reviewed by JVV on 1/22/2009

What can I say, smooth, warm, clean...everything you want for creating delay, chorus and flang in one pedal. Pre-sets are a little tricky but well worth the effort. A must have!
