I have tried many different multi effects, tried Line 6 X3, Boss GT-10, etc. I tried only using the effects (no overdrive or preamp), so I could have the flexibility of a digital multi effects could give you. But all of this kill the sound of you preamp. If you have a nice tube amp, G Major will works perfect, no coloring your tone at all, and the effects are very high quality. It sure worth the money.
I use a full pedal board in front of my amp w/ various high end pedals for time based effects. I added an original G Major to my amp effects loop 10 years ago to enhance my rig; good move. I recently upgraded to the G Major 2 and feel good about it so far. The improvements to the reverbs are nice and the factory presets are improved starting points for set up. I don't care for the display of tap tempo on the new unit but that's pretty minor.
This unit is a solid processor for players looking to rack units without going into the $ 1,000's budget range.

Almost settled for the Rocktron Expression...but...
This Unit replaces my old ART SGX2000 Express...
Effects are excellent, the unit does not change the tone of the guitar amp...has only what I need (and a couple I don't).
Takes about 15min-half hour getting used to the programming sequence.
The EQ is versatile in what parameters can be programmed but being only a 3 band...its still very limited.
The big seller for me was the ability to control the channel functions of my amp head through presets.
Only one midi cable and pedal needed! (FYI using and old peavy midi pedal and have a couple ART X-15 as back-ups..they all work with no programming/set up).
I run a B-52 At 100 head, through a Rocktron Super C Noise Gate, in series with the GMajor2....I may add a programmable EQ rack into the mix (different stages require different settings)...
But for now...The Rack is Back! and I am a happy guitar player again.
